I rarely write reviews but sometimes its essiential. As somebody who is closely involved in the brewing industry, I had heard that Andrew keeps a mean pint. We booked dinner and had a fabulous experience. The menu catered for all tastes - we all had different dishes, and all were delicious, generous and great value. The service was excellent and staff were fully informed about dishes on the menu. My particular interest were the cask ales and rarely find the need to congratulate a publican, but here was one. Andrew, your pint of Butcombe was amazing. I wish we were closer to you than in our brewery in Kent but admire your fierce loyalty to the local brewers. Its what we all work for. Thank you so much for a great evening and your engaging conversation. Beat a path to The Cats Head everyone, you will love this place. Rob, from CellarHead Brewery in Kent

I do love a pub with warm fires (2) on a Chilly Sunday. Came here with a friend last Sunday , and we weren't disappointed. I had the lamb which was cooked to perfection, pink in the middle, just as I like it and it came with all the trimmings. The Service was excellent, we didn't have to wait long even though it was very busy. The staff were very friendly and professional. Will come again! Highly recommended!

Despite current coronavirus restrictions, we were welcomed to The Cat Head and steered to our table through the most attractively lit Christmas trees and decorations. This beautiful pub is on our very short list of must-go-to places for lunch and as usual the food was delicious, just the right size portions for a three course meal close by a large inglenook with a wood fire blazing away - not too hot of course, just comfortably warm. The menu has just the right amount of choice for delicious, freshly cooked dishes and Annie in the kitchen has a real magic touch preparing food that looks and tastes amazing. Andrew runs The Cat Head with the most friendly, welcoming and efficient manner and it would be difficult to imagine a better place for a relaxing meal at either lunchtime or in the evening. Already looking forward to the next time, hopefully sans covid rules.

we were a party of 10 for lunch.Service was poor and had a long wait for our meals, which were extremely disappointing. Poorly presented, uncooked lamb, and the beef was thick sliced and so tough that you couldn't cut through it. We were expecting so much more after reading the Trip Advisor reviews and the price (£19.95 for two courses).

We had a lovely meal here on Friday. The gammon I was told by my partner was really nice and a different combination having blue cheese and apple with it. My katsu chicken burger was really nice. Deserts, wine and beer all excellent! All in all a lovely evening. The landlord has worked very hard to ensure all social distancing and Covid measures are in place for the safety of his customers and staff and it was a pleasure to eat here. It was a shame a few of the customers felt the need to moan about the Covid rules in place but that certainly wouldn't deter us from visiting again.

I had lunch here with an old friend one Thursday lunch time. We both had an excellent very tasty 3 course meal from the specials board (there was also a normal menu with 10 or 12 mains courses to choose from plus a reasonably priced 2 or 3 course set menu). I would describe it as gastro pub and all of the food is cooked from fresh. It seemed quite popular and I can understand why. The staff were efficient and very friendly. There is no car park, but ample on road parking is available in what is a very quiet village. The pub is only about 50 metres from the village church of St Peter & St Paul. Whilst not the cheapest place it is very highly recommended as I feel you get good value for money. It’s worth booking a table to avoid disappointment.

I came across the Cat Head Inn by chance whilst on the internet looking for new places to eat within a reasonable distance to where I live and it is a real find. The Landlord is very welcoming and the food was tasty and portions substantial. One thing to note is that there can be quite a wait for your dinner to be delivered, but this is made very clear on the menu before you order and it wasn't a problem for us as we just sat back and enjoyed the ambiance and our drinks and the music playing softly in the background. We have booked again to take friends who are visiting shortly from London and I think the Cat Head Inn is going to become a real favourite of ours. Lovely pub and experience, so glad we have found you.

Recommended to try this pub as staying locally. A great place to spend a Saturday night, friendly staff and proprietor, well cooked food at reasonable prices and a cosy atmosphere in a wonderful old building that has been modernised with care. Andrew the owner is rightly proud of his pub, long may he continue. We hope to come back when in the area again.

We visited the Cat Head Inn for luncheon a Friday. We always take my 95 year old father-in-law out when we visit him and have recently tried some new pubs in the area. The Cat Head Inn did not disappoint. Chiselborough is a beautiful village and a warm welcome awaited from Andrew, the owner when we arrived. We all ordered different dishes and were advised that my gammon may take a little longer but that was not a problem as we were out for a relaxed family lunch and were happy chatting. Our food was beautifully fresh and piping hot from the kitchen, it was full of flavour. We would have no hesitation recommending the Cat Head Inn. A local business well worth supporting.

My wife chose the Cat Head Inn for her birthday meal and I'm bloody glad she did! Really warm greeting on arrival and fantastic service throughout the meal. The menu isn't the most expansive you will come across but our party had a good mixture of the dishes and everyone agreed the food was delicious. Will definitely be back to enjoy it all again😊

This was a return visit to try the Sunday Lunch and we weren't disappointed. The menu choice was excellent, with traditional roast meats and appropriate vegetarian options. The staff were friendly and attentive, which created a warm and relaxing atmosphere, where we had a fantastic time and time just disappeared. We will definitely be back.

We had dinner at the Cat Head last night as we are in the area for our first break away since the lockdown. The food was presented attractively and tasted fantastic. The gammon was delicious, as were the sardines and my glass of wine was cold and crisp. Atmosphere cosy and the social distancing rules didn’t spoil a lovely atmosphere and great service. This is a lovely place and definitely worth a visit.

We lunched with friends in this charming pub. There is no car park so one has to park in the road which is quite narrow. The welcome was warm and friendly and we were seated at a large table by the log fire. The tables were widely spaced and we felt safe. The menu offered a choice of nutty nibbles and then a range of 5 starters. We passed on the starters and decided to go straight to main courses. There was a board of dishes of the day and a range of offerings including burgers. One chose the dish of the day which was trout, one chose a Spanish Meatball dish, one chose a sirloin steak and one a chicken breast. All were beautifully cooked, nicely presented and were very tasty. Alterations to the dishes were happily accommodated. For dessert - 3 chose mixed ice creams from a choice of 5 or so dishes. We finished with coffee. We all drank soft drinks. At no time did we feel hassled or rushed and service was friendly and proficient. The bill for was £102. We have already booked to return for their Christmas lunch in early December.

The warm welcome, friendly service, great range of ales, and above all for us the amazing choice of starters, main courses and puddings made The Cat Head a really great choice for an enjoyable Saturday lunchtime. This is proper food - local ingredients cooked to perfection. Nothing to improve on here. Highly recommended.

We selected this online as a geographically suitable place for a friends lunchtime reunion. What a delightful place! Following a warm welcome by the staff we were comfortably seated and furnished with menus. The choice of food was varied and interesting, some traditional fare but a number of dishes with an interesting twist. We chose a variety of dishes, each of which was artistically served and proved really delicious. Desserts were equally tempting and we were not disappointed. The prices were reasonable for such delicious fare. The best country inn I have visited in a long time. All in all a great success!
