As visitors to the area we picked this pub out pretty much at random but as it turned out we were thrilled with the choice we’d made. The staff were relaxed, friendly but efficient. The ambiance was great, with seasonal decorations, pleasantly spaced tables and a cosy atmosphere. The menu offered good, varied choices, with a few slightly more unusual dishes, plus there were loads of specials. All 4 mains our family had were fantastic, well-cooked, good quality food, nicely served, with generous portions. Desserts too were delicious, the brownie being particularly well-received by one group member! Prices were a little higher than we’re used to in the north but given the superb quality it was well worth it. The only tiny problem for this pub is it’s limited parking, but we had a brilliant evening, and if we lived in the area we’d go here regularly. Thanks to all at the New Inn.

I never write reviews but use trip advisor for suggestions.
It was absolutely incredible, perfectly cooked food, wait time was 10-15mins as everything is cooked fresh even including the sauces.
Never had a better meal in my life. Don’t be scared of the specials board either, it’s just as fantastic.
We had pork belly and pork loins. Wow is all we can say!!

Our party of five came to the New Inn for lunch as part of my mother’s 91st Birthday treats. We were warmly welcomed and shown our reserved table in the bar. While several other groups were also eating there we were all safely distanced. We were given our own printed daily menu to share which would be disposed of at the end of the meal.
Our drink orders were taken and brought to the table. There were a variety of very tempting choices both on the menu and specials boards. My husband I chose the pan fried Tuna with risotto which absolutely delicious. The fish was perfectly cooked and the rice rich and creamy. My sister’s Chilli Chicken was also deemed really good. The other choices of Ham Salad, soup and filled baguette were excellent too. Although we deferred on puddings (we were going back for tea and Birthday Cake) there were several slightly different ones in addition to the usual choices which was good to see.
We noticed that tables and chairs were all sanitised after guests had left.
The New Inn is a reliable stopping point for meals on the A38 or if staying at The Old Manor House across the road (which we have several times). Food is consistently very good which is why we came over from Wedmore. It was really lovely to have enjoyed a great lunch in a safe and friendly venue. Well done!

We booked for a Sunday teatime. On arriving at the bar we were told that there were no Roast dinners left and were given a menu and directed to a table. No one came to take orders for anything so we went to order at the bar. We ordered food and drinks and sat back down, noticing that other people were having orders taken at the table. When we received the food it was ok but nothing I couldn't make better myself. We were going to order dessert and waited for someone to ask if we would like dessert but no-one came near. We heard the table behind saying they had ordered dessert 3 times and it still hadn't arrived. The atmosphere wasn't great so we paid and left feeling rather disappointed.

The New Inn was very close to a B&B we were staying in, and rightfully recommended by the owners. My partner had the sea bass with a butternut squash risotto, which she found to be delicious and full of flavour. The fish was cooked to perfection with a nice crispy skin. I had the fish pie with salmon and prawns, which was also very tasty.
The waiting staff were attentive and friendly, and offered advice on local drinks according to our tastes.

This pub is on a pretty road with a few parking spaces opposite (all were available when we arrived at 4.30pm but full when we left).
Ordering is at the bar which is fairly unusual in the current climate, so you will need to be ok with waiting closely alongside other people.
The staff were very accommodating and helpful especially with advising on meals for our coeliac family member (they have vegan and gluten free options available & actually a choice too).
Service was a little slow - the food took quite a long time to arrive. When we had finished our main course, plates were left a fair while before they were taken when they took half & then I am not sure if they forgot or were too busy for the rest as it had got quite busy by that time.
We did queue for a while to order desserts, but while waiting changed our minds as it was already getting late & with the main course plates not taken and the pub filling up, we thought the wait might be too long for the children so we called it a day.
The staff were lovely and the food was nice. The menu is extensive (although there is no wine menu). The photo shows a lovely pork chop gluten free option.

We were staying in Wedmore for a week, arriving on Saturday. Unfortunately we didn't visit the New Inn until the Wednesday. We were lucky to get in as Wednesday is the popular Steak Night and the pub was very busy.
The Steak was so good, perfectly cooked as requested, it was so good we returned on Thursday and we were equally pleased. If you find yourself in the village, we really recommend a visit.

Last Thursday my Father in Law took me and eight other family members to celebrate the birthday of my Grand-daughter and the end of a great family weeks holiday.
The setting upstairs in a small alcove was perfect. Service was always with a smile and very efficient. For starters we chose the Antipasti board with cured meats, homemade pickle, olives with warm crusty bread and olive oil. Plenty for all of us to freshen our taste buds.
Five of us had the 8oz seasoned sirloin steak with hand cut chips and either peas or side salad. I had this medium rare with salad. Quite suburb, juicy, very tender and for me one on the best steaks ever. The other four adults had various main courses and all said Great. Nothing remained except nine empty plates.
A few hardy souls managed a desert. I was full to bursting. My red house wine was also up to the first class standards of this wonderful Inn restaurant.

We asked friends to organise somewhere we could eat, spend the evening that was dog friendly as they were local and we were staying nearby.
We went on a Monday evening mid June and if we hadn’t booked we wouldn’t of got a table.
Good choice of gins and local beers.
Lovely menu and great specials on top of the menu. We had the haddock with bubble and squeek and poached egg (specials board) the egg was lovely and runny, and lasagne (main menu), all was used with fresh ingredients.
It was a lovely evening, the service was attentive without being intrusive and the dog was made to feel very welcome, with other customers saying hello to her.
We had planned to go to a local cafe for lunch on our last day but they had closed for equipment maintenance so we decided to go back as we’d enjoyed the food so much.
This time we had baguettes one with pulled pork and the other was BLT. Both were lovely, freshly baked, great amount of filling, they came with side salad and home made coleslaw and we shared a portion of chunky chips. We had the rhubarb and ginger crumble with custard, and honeycombed, strawberry and fudge ice cream for desert.
This is a great location on the way to or from Bristol airport for us and if we are travelling and need a meal we’ll pop in.
We sat inside both times as it was very hot at the time but they have a beer garden and also gave parking.
Thanks for two wonderful meals, that were very well priced, we will be back.

Perfect spot for a family pub tea with the kids. Beautiful views, great staff and perfect garden for the kids to play in. We bought, 2 main meals, 3 kids meals, a large wine, pint of beer, 2 colas and an apple juice and the cost was £63. The food was a high standard, hot, tasty and seasoned well.

Booked for my mums birthday and have never been before. Great little pub and atmosphere was nice too. Great menus options. Had vegetarians in the family too so catered for everyone. Roasts were great, nitroast included, great portion sizes and lovely home cooked food. Staff were very friendly and amusing. I would definately recommend reserving as very busy on a sunday evening and I can see why! We will go back again for sure!

Couldn't fault this pub, fab food, fab staff and a lovely cosy atmosphere. We stayed at Cheddar Woods from Monday to Friday and this was our go to pub for three nights of our stay, the staff go above and beyond with thier service, and we couldn't fault the food. If you're local or staying in the area on a mini break, I would highly recommend a visit. Also, the staff are constantly on top of keeping all areas clean and sanitised in the covid situation.

We had visited this Inn previously and had always wanted to go back which we did on 23rd August. When we arrived just before 2PM we were told that no food would be served until 3PM as a large group hade turned up, this was not an issue and we were willing to wait.
I went to order our food jus before 3PM and were the told that no food would be available until after 5PM, this was annoying and we decided to go and find some where else to eat. As we were leaving a member of staff stopped us and apologised for being let down and said that she had spoken to the kitchen and that we could order food. We order our food and did not have to wait long for our meal and the bonus was that it was brilliant and tasty and was worth our wait.
Our thanks to the lovely lady who was appalled at how we had been treated but her actions rescued this venue and we would recommend that staff and the quality of food.

Haven't been here since before lockdown and was very pleased that the standard of food hadn't changed. Ordered the vegetarian lasagna which was delicious and came with a decent side salad and garlic bread. The other orders included the fish and chips which was huge and looked amazing! Received a very warm welcome from the girls behind the bar and the waiting staff were friendly too. Definitely will be back! The only suggestion I would have is for 1 or 2 more veggie/vegan options on the main menu.

We booked to come here as a large party for a Sunday lunch based on the reviews and the lovely looking photos.
Unfortunately it didn't live up to these precedents.
We had a mixture of roasts and main meals, adults and children.
The roasts were very average, the beef and lamb both tasted like pre cut/prepped meat rather than a freshly cooked joint. The pork was better quality and the crackling to be fair was huge and lovely.
The Yorkshires were shop bought which was a real shame as one of the photos we saw in a recent review showed a beautiful huge homemade Yorkshire. I really don't understand why pubs do this, you're selling your own food skills and quality not a shop's product!
The cauliflower cheese was outstanding it has to be said, piping hot and flavoursome. The rest of the veg was cooked well (as in just right, not over done), carrots were pretty flavourless though. Brocoli and cabbage was good.
The roast potatoes were not good at all, fried maybe? They weren't roasted and were just yellow tasteless balls with no crisp.
The main meals also varied, the special was large and tasty although came with what looked like a whole bag of peas, might have been nice to have one other veg with that. The veggie lasagne was also huge and came with salad and garlic bread but again quite tasteless. Unless we all have covid (in which case I'll remove this review) there was a theme going on....
The children's meals were enormous, the roast was the only sensible sized one. Some may say don't complain about this but while we have so much food waste in the world it was awful to see so much left. The spag bol was too much for even an adult, the portion of spaghetti was ridiculous. All children like their meals and all ate well it was just a shame to see so much waste, I think only the roast was eaten, the other 5 children plates had lots of leftovers.
The staff were really lovely and the atmosphere was also good, there's a garden with a play area and nice toilets.
I would return if I saw a quality improvement on the food (please cook your own yorkies and do a proper joint)!
