Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It’s definitely worth a visit to Timanfaya National Park and a lunch at the restaurant El Diablo. It offers a unique experience: food is prepared on a volcanic heat. Just as a suggestion: Maybe a bit more attention to how the food is presented and...served…since it looked more as a canteen to me…. Don’t mind to pay extra for the experience but wanted something a bit more special… we travel a lot and trying unique foods and attractions in every place we go and this is definitely something special… however a bit disappointing… also waiting staff can be a bit more friendly. Nevertheless it’s worth a visitMore

If you are looking for a memorable meal in Lanzarote, you might want to visit the restaurant at Timanfaya National Park. This restaurant, called El Diablo, offers a stunning view of the volcanic scenery and a menu that features dishes cooked with geothermal heat. You...can watch the chefs grill meat and fish over a large pit that harnesses the natural temperature of the earth, which can reach up to 400 degrees Celsius. The restaurant also serves traditional Canarian cuisine, such as papas arrugadas (wrinkled potatoes) with mojo sauce, and local wines. The restaurant is open daily from 12:00 to 15:45, and you need to book in advance to secure a table. You can also enjoy a guided tour of the park before or after your meal, and learn more about the history and geology of this fascinating place. The restaurant at Timanfaya is a must-see attraction for anyone who loves nature, adventure, and gastronomy.More

Positively Plinian - not the volcanology, my enthusiasm (if you know you know). I’m a geologist and also a fan of grilled meat. Eating grilled meat cooked on the earths internal heat whilst beholding a panoramic view of several caldera across a field of aa...and pahoehoe lava only 300 years old made me a bit giddy. I’ve never eaten a steak so slowly. Turns out the restaurant was designed by cesar manrique - check out that dude- he also turned some lava tunnels into a home - looks like a real life Bond villains lair. I shan’t hear a bad word said, this was awesome. If you don’t find this experience fantastic then get out of the lava field loser!More

Great spot for a coffee after visiting the national park, loved the style (by Cesar Manrique). Serves coffee, soft drinks, decent sandwiches etc. Relaxed spot from where you can look at the park & enjoy a coffee

DONT go.. unless you are desperate! We drove there on a recommendation. Firstly, we were charged €20 each to get up to the restaurant. We were not told, nor was it advertised, that you pay 20 euros to get up the the restaurant which then...allows you to get on a coach travelling around a volcano supposedly. We just wanted lunch so forfeited the coach trip for which there was an awful queue!! The food in the restaurant was gruesome! Steak had absolutely no flavour at all.. no ' searing' over the 'hot lava'. The bbq was not that hot and the food when it came out had no colour at all. Vegetables were some sort of boiled coleslaw and were awful. Its not a local place full of charm. Just a 'bang em in, bang em out' restaurant. Dont waste your money.. We did!!More

Look. You have gone to visit the national park. There are no other eating establishments for miles around. Staff have to travel long distances to work there. Opening hours are very restricted. To eat items cooked over a volcano is an experience. Tables overlook the...park with great views, have proper tablecloths and cotton napkins. Bearing all this in mind; what do you think that BBQ chicken with trimmings and a beer is worth? If you eat in a basic cafe in Costa Teguisi you will pay at least E15; here it is E20. It's got to be worth the extra.More

Except for the location, that's nothing special. The food isn't that good and definitely not worth the price. I suggest to take the sandwich insted of the meat (for a good price-quality).

Really enjoyed a nice coffee, baguette and cake during our coach trip to Timanfayu and the volcano. The price was very good considering location, they do not charge excessively.

Went on a your with P&O cruise ship. Lots of food, amazing views. Would recommend. Outside there are experiments showing the heat of the volcano. Food is cooked from the heat. Desert in the shape of a volcano. A really nice day out.

I went on a shore excursion whilst on a cruise. The food was excellent and plentiful. The worst thing was the heat in there. It was a very hot day anyway but it was so hot that everyone including myself was sweating so much it...stopped us from enjoying the lovely food which was very good and the Servers were very helpful and friendly.More

We went for an evening tour of the volcano and national park and had an 3-course evening meal in the deal. While the views were amazing, and the demonstrations of water in the heat looked great we were really looking forward to food that was...cooked from the heat of the volcano. It was quite late by the time food came (after 8pm) and We were greatly disappointed. The food was awful. The starter salad was nice but that is all I could really eat. We were given a plate with a sausage, something resembling potato, a tomato and green pepper, and a very dry piece of chicken and a bit of belly pork that was more fat than anything else. When you sliced into the potato it was more a powder and smelled musky. Everyones looked the same and as plates were collected, I could see the sausage and veg gone from plates with everything else left. When we got back to our hotel, we had other food although very late. The dessert was something nutty based so not suitable. My partner got fruit as it was an allergy but I did not get it although I do not eat nuts (safer for my partner) and not an allergy. We got some good pictures while we were out, and the view from just outside the restaurant gives a great sunset view but we will never return.More

We did the evening tour of the national park and went for the sunset three course meal. Welcome drink on arrival friendly staff and seated quickly despite being in a large coach party. Starter of salad on table lots of included drinks flowing staff very...friendly. Collected our main BBQ course and returned inside, food was lovely and drinks still being served. As sun was about to set almost everyone went out to see it, on returning back to our tables a few minutes later all tables had been cleared of all food. Us and those around had only eaten half of our main courses, staff must know people have only gone out for a few minutes yet all our food had gone. The drinks suddenly stopped and on asking a waiter if my wife could have some more wine he scowled returned to fill her glass but left so quickly he left a red wine trail across the table narrowly missing my wife's clothing. Dessert was equally as lovely as the rest of the meal and I would have given this a five star review but for the behaviour of the staff and sudden change in their moods.More

Moved from our original table for Russians. My girlfriend was vegetarian and her risotto was like a student curry. The food was very average and the chicken was dry. The dessert was very good and some of the food was okay but the overall experience...was very average compared with the amazing views from the restaurant.More

I understand this restaurant is for meat eaters and the experience of the grill, but I am vegetarian and I was given a small portion of risotto, and 2 pieces of asparagus tips , which I personally believe to be flavoured with a powdered curry...sauce, a woman at my table could not finish the portion she was given due to the glutinous consistency. The waiters were good, a lovely waitress whose customer care skills were of a higher standard. Sharing a starter plate with strangers seems s bit weird too but luckily the people who we were sitting with were nice. There were plenty of spare tables. If you are looking for a romantic meal chances are you’ll be sat looking at a stranger across the table. If you are vegetarian or other dietary requirement, halal etc and need the veggie option I can’t recommend.More
