Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

To begin on a positive note, they seem to be well on top of the COVID measures and everything is in place. However, the general “couldn’t care less” attitude towards new customers is a real negative. We waited nearly an hour for our meals (the...place wasn’t busy, but we only saw two members of staff), and no one bothered to see if were all right whilst we waited. When the food arrived it was lukewarm and I had to leave a third of my steak because it was inedible. They even managed to miss one item off the plate. The whole feel of the place is not overly friendly. No one came to ask us if our meals were okay, probably because they either knew what the answer would be or they just didn’t care. Needless to say we will not be rushing back.More

Just popped in on the way home. Only had burgers. Well cooked with a nice portion of chips and side salad. Staff very helpful and friendly. Young man serving didn’t just ask if the food was okay but took time to explain all the activities...during the week. Asked us to make any suggestions to improve the pub and hoped we would visit again. Sincere young man and yes we will pop in again. Nice to be welcomed and our custom appreciated.More

Went to see a band at the cross keys. Feeling can be best summed up by someone I spoke to. 1. "You won't get pissed in.here tonight'. He's right, two bar staff and the place was busy. Wanted to get a round of drinks but...waited half an hour for the que to die down. 2. The guy I spoke to mentioned the attitude of the staff and he was right. They were down right miserable. Without doubt the most unfriendly place I have begged to take money off me. Thankfully, they were that inefficient I did not spend much. 3. The guy said " they need at least another two bar staff, and at least one that smiles". Again, perfectly correct. The staff were down right miserable and whatever you asked them was treated with "why just go somewhere else". The band was fantastic. The management and staff a disgrace.More

Have been to this pub a few times when jan was landlady always good food and friendly atmosphere went into day just for a quick bite to eat and a pint to be met by a sore looking landlady who informed us that there would...be no food as there was a party booked for that evening and they had to prepare I’m sure the brewery would be surprised at customers being turned away at lunch time this place has rapidly gone down hillMore

We came for a nice quiet drink with a few friends, we ended up having food. The food was just horrific, cold and stale burgers along with chips. The food was served with attitude, we asked which burger was which. In response to that we...where told 'How am I supposed to know'. Once our food was served to us, the lady that served us then said 'can I go for a f**king fag now'! We then asked for some sauce which was then thrown at us in temper, we obviously didn't rise to this. We requested off the manager an apology, we didn't an apology (the manager had no discipline towards the situation at all). On our way out I put my coat on the rude lady that served us then pushed past me and stormed off. This is horrendous embarrassing behaviour and you should be ashamed of your staff, if the pub was part of a chain I would have taken this a lot further. We are locals to this pub and have been for quite a while, we bring them good custom and have spent a lot of time and money in here. We will NOT be returning. I am annoyed we didn't take photos else I would have had to write a review and would have done the food justice.More

Visited the newly refurbished public house. Early evening. Food served quickly, I ordered fish and chips - fish lightly battered and served with nice crispy chips. My partner ordered chicken Tikka , very flavoursome, could have done with maybe an onion bhajg. We ordered apple...pie to follow - very nice deep dish pie and custard. Would recommend. The only thing one wine on the pull.More

The cross keys is our local. It was very run down and the previous landlady put us off. Last year it was refurbed and along came jan and ivor. They have completely turned the cross keys around.....so much so that it seems to be really...busy when we want a quick bite. Friday dinner time a function was expected. We were kindly informed and jan found us a table on other side of pub. Food as always good and as requested. As we go in at least twice a month we have got to know the team. Jan makes you feel very welcome. Its the type of place you walk in as a customer and leave as a friend. If id known you could review pubs id have done it ages ago.More

After it having a refurb, the pub looks fab. The staff are very friendly. The food is fab, and even my fussy eater enjoyed her meal. Lovely to sit in the garden with the sunshine but, still just as nice inside.
