Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just superb; go online, check out their menu and if you're over there go for lunch. Not been to the Canaries for over 50 years and that was to Tenerife when i was seven. Booked Lanzarote on a whim as desperate for some rays; we...hired a car and after seeing a green lagoon ( not overly impressive) we drove to this town for some lunch. This place seemed popular so had a look at the menu and sat down. Something for everyone; I like seafood and it was delicious. Service was great, it had a lovely chilled holiday atmosphere and we had a fantastic leisurely lunch. Highly recommended.More

This restaurant has a fantastic outdoor dining area facing the most amazing seascape. We didn’t manage to get an outside table as we had not rebooked. We were happy enough to sit inside - even though it was a little gloomy. Our food was served...at break neck speed. We couldn’t believe how quickly it arrived. We opted for the lunch menu which was fish of the day, a glass of wine and icecream. Food was very simple - a piece of plain fish, salad and potatoes. No sauces, dressing or much flavour. Again after the main course a tiny steel bowl with a scoop of vanilla icecream was banged on the table. The meal was over and done with in 30 mins. Food was average - a child could cook it. No finesse or nice touches. Service was dour. Setting was amazing.More

This is our favourite fish restaurant on Lanzarote and we drove up several times at lunchtime from Playa Blanca for their "fish of the day" which on this holiday was cherne every time which we ask to be be plain grilled with no garlic or...coriander. It's superb. The waiters are very friendly as well as efficient and for those that have never been in the evening it's a wonderful place to eat fish and watch the sun go down. Looking foward to revisiting next AprilMore

Have been coming to this restaurant for some years. The setting is just fantastic. We both felt that on this occasion we were felt the service was a little below par. Our paella was not up to its usual standard.

We arrived at 3.30pm, after checking into our rental home. We was greeted by a nice waiter, sat down and drinks arrived with a menu quickly. Then an older guy arrived to take our order. When we ordered just desserts he demanded we order lunch,...we explained to him that we just wanted dessert he made a big show, flouncing the menus about and shouting at us and other waiters. We still had our drinks but asked another waiter if we should leave, he smiled and said no no that is just the owner. We felt really uncomfortable after that. When we finished we asked for the bill but it still took a long time for someone to come with a card machine, after asking several times, we were forced to look like we were leaving before anyone would take note and bring a card machine. Safe to say we did not visit their again throughout our visit. Just so you are aware we did not get this service in any other restaurants, in fact, as we were staying in the village for a while we visited other restaurants. Casa Torano just next door were perfectly lovely, received a very good service, the view is exactly the same so we spent A LOT of money there.More

The service was great! You sit outside in front of the sea and we enjoyed our food at first. As it started raining, the waiter organized inside the restaurant a table for 12 people. Fish, chicken or pork were very good! The outside area could...be nicer, but no deduction in the rating because of this.More

I have been coming here since 1989 (6 times) and it has always been superb. Garlic prawns are a great snack or starter. The fish platter is a great lunch. Above all, was the barracuda with salad and Canary potatoes. Fantastic!!! One of the best...lunches I have EVER had. Succulent, tasty fish, well cooked and excellently served. Our last meal in Lanzarote and a great memory.More

We had been recommended to come to El Golfo and to have a wander about. Many people seem to park up right at the entrance to the village but if you head all the way to the end along the seafront there’s a car park...next to the kids playground. So we wandered by Mar Azul, Casa Luis checked the menu and sat down. Fantastic views of the sea and really friendly staff. We opted for the seafood paella for two and it was delicious. There’s plenty of choice on the menu and it’s all well priced. Plus, the view. We ate at lunch but I can imagine that sunset here is spectacular. Definitely worth a look!More

We had lunch here about five times during our fortnight in Playa Blanca and I'm pleased to say that Mar Azul was just as good as ever. It is in a delightful spot, the staff are friendly but most important of all the fish is...superb. Not only is it fresh but it is also superbly cooked unlike many other places that either overcook or undercook the fish. We will be back again in November and are already looking forward to visiting this restaurant again. Highly recommended for all fish loversMore

The Mar Azul restaurant is situated along the sea shore in the coastal village of El Golfo on the island of Lanzarote. El Golfo is an unspoilt village that hugs the shoreline. The village seems far from the many tourist resorts. The wild seas dominate...the village. There are a few restaurants along the shore. We chose the Mar Azul - and what a good choice it was. The location, the food and service was excellent. It was so nice that we returned a second time. El Golfo is well worth a visit. Great views, the starting point of the Rita del Litarol walk and dramatic seas. You can order a taxi from Playa Blanca or hire a car. Well worth a visit.More

Came here with a group of friends and asked about the fish of the day. We were recommended a cherne to share between three of us, which was spot on and cooked beautifully. Exactly what seafront eating should be. Would definitely recommend. The local cats...also arrived within a millisecond of the fish landing on our table!More
