I've been in this pub a few times, but never eaten here....Until now. We arrived without booking as it was a last minute thing, and we were made to feel immediately welcome. We were invited to sit in the bar whilst a table became available in the restaurant. Drinks were brought over, together with menu's. One of our party were... More

Real ale, fires and pie gravy and chips. What more can you ask for. Well actually the Lakeland Lager was rather good too.

Visited as part of a party of over thirty and impressed by very high standards - service, food and customer care. Exceptionally well organised team work. Food great standard given numbers. My needs for gluten free totally covered. Many thanks and congratulations to all.

We enjoyed dinner here on a Saturday evening. The menu was varied but we all elected to try the pies for which it is renowned. The choice of fillings is large and caused dilemmas. We made our choices and nobody was disappointed. The pastry was excellent and the fillings tasty complemented by a selection of vegetables. The slight downside was... More

Been visiting this pub when we are in the area for over 25 years. Called in this weekend and got a good Sunday lunch for a reasonable price. They do have other options on a Sunday, both vegetarian and a couple of other mains for those who don't want a roast. A very traditional pub. Friendly landlady and staff.

even though it was bank holiday weekend, food was served promptly for good price. The garden is large and has a playarea for children.
