I had dinner and breakfast at The Punchbowl, as it feeds guests of the other pub in the village. Both meals were good pub food: veggie lasagne and a fried breakfast. Lasagne was excellent and the other diners were clearly enjoying their meals too. For...More

The lunch was good. Essentially English pub grub. The service was most attentive. The only problem was the number of flies. With a working farm next door, I felt more could have been done to control them.

Two pubs in Askham, about 400 metres apart. I can't vouch for the Queens, though it used to be rather grim and gloomy. The Punchbowl is at the lower end of a village green - well worth wandering around to look at some very... More
