Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went for Sunday lunch as party of 6 to celebrate a 50th birthday. We chose this place as it had a good online menu (under sunday lunch) with about 5 vegetarian options. On arrival no staff around. When they arrived and were told we had...a booking we were told " just sit anywhere" without taking a name. (both bar and restaurant were empty) We asked for a menu and were told "you don't need one it's only a roast" we queried the vegetarian options and were told (they can have veg and potatoes !!!!) The staff member did mutter that she would ask the chef but hadn't returned in 5 minutes. We left very disappointed and hungry.More

We ordered white bait and garlic mushrooms to start. Very tasty. Steaks and lasagne for mains. Plenty of it. Steaks weren’t medium rare more like medium well but were still nice. Good to have the option of a jacket potato as alternative to chips. Reasonably...priced and friendly staff. Dog friendly in the bar. Worth a visit if you are in the area.More

We booked a table for 2 for last serving at 2.45 of Sunday roast for my birthday dinner. Quiet until a group came in. The food looked well but the beef, potatoes & y pub were luke warm. It tasted lovely tho & I cleared...the plate. Felt the owners could have been a bit more upbeat & person centred given it was my birthday -and someone else’s in the other large group. They were too late for dinner & I feel the pub owners missed a trick as they could have attempted to accommodate them a bit more too. No room f pud as was stuffed..!More

This was one of the worst meals I’ve had. A meal in a chain pub would have been better, which is so disappointing when you try and support local businesses. - 2 menus provided for 5 people - the restaurant was completely empty, yet we...were not offered more menus (a family tried to get a table, but told a 45 minute wait) - the starters arrived cold and uncooked - the mains (burgers) were hard and inedible, again luke warm, with a hard bu - the reviews all rave about this place, they must either be made up or there’s been a change in circumstances. I would have complained, but this couldn’t have been rectified. I just wanted to leave and eat a sandwich at home! One positive thing was the music playlist!More

Cat and dogs also very friendly. Didn't get chance to try...the food but it did look lovely. Will definitely go back if in area... Well worth a visitMore

Call in for Sunday lunch after being once before about 2+ years ago. Did not disappoint, we were the last booking of the service but still got an excellent meal. Roast Beef & Turkey excellent, Roast, New & Mash Potatoes I would have done with...new and more mash but no complaint I just like my mash. 5 veg all nice and cooked through. Dessert Lemon sponge & custard & a tiramisu sundae. Takes a lot to fill my son and he was full, as was the reason for a new visit and it was last time. Plus he said best int of Guinness he's ever had. Keep it up I'm not tell anyone as don't want you getting to busy :)More

Stopped in here for Sunday lunch and wished we hadn't bothered. I had lamb shank and husband had beef. The meats were ok but vegetables were almost raw I couldnt even cut through the carrots. The Yorkshire was alright but not very warm. I then...made a big mistake by ordering my favourite sticky toffee pudding & custard. I was served with a cold thick blancmange substance on top of the worst sticky toffee pudding I have ever tasted. It was hard and old tasting and left the whole thing. Couldn't wait to get out of there and would not recommend it to anyone. Didn't even stay long enough to take a photo.More

We arrived at the Wheel Inn late on a Friday evening after arriving at our weekend break, greeted by Sue the landlady, she couldn’t have been most hospitable. We visited again on Saturday eve, again we were greeted with the best hospitality (we were even...sent some some free home chips from the chef!!) the locals were welcoming and friendly. We then popped in again for Sunday Lunch. It was the best Sunday Lunch we have ever had. The food was plentiful, all cooked to perfection. We couldn’t recommend the Wheel Inn enough! Thank you Sue and team for your wonderful hospitality and food. We will be back!More
