Popular brewery owned bar serving tourists and locals alike. Great views of the harbour and staff that are frantic to keep you served and happy. Have been in Nova Scotia for a week, trying many different seafood restaurants . Tried Grand banker for lunch. The seafood chowder and fish cakes were mainly potatoes. Very disappointing .

We ate indoors but there is plenty of scenic outdoor seating. Our food was delicious and served promptly. I had pan-fried haddock, asparagus and green beans, and roasted potatoes, all garnished with fried capers. I finished the meal with rum sauced bread pudding. The portions...were generous. I have been in any number of restaurants that advertise “lightly breaded haddock.” This is the only restaurant that actually delivered it. What a beautiful, fresh taste. My wife wasn’t very hungry and just ordered potato skins. Couldn’t stop eating them. Very busy at lunch.

So the main restaurant is fine, although we were seated in a (tiny) booth to the rear of the restaurant. The waitress was punctual but came back 15 minutes later having forgotten what we ordered 😳 ! We had to ask twice for the drinks...we ordered, too. We had 2 x main dishes: mine was fine (nothing special) but my wife’s salad+ was pretty much green leaves with traces of the good bits - very average. A good beer selection, but that’s where the good stopped. Better options nearby?More

Choose what you are, sports bar or restaurant. If you have screens in the wall you are a sports bar so don’t tell sport game supporters to be quiet. If you want to be a restaurant then lose the screens and step up your service.

This is a nice place to grab a bite in Lunenburg. The fact that they take reservations is problematic when you are a walk-in. They held up several tables that could have been turned because not all of the party had arrived. During tourist season,...I would recommend changing that policy.More

Stopped in on a busy Monday afternoon. We were told there’d be a 15-20 minute wait for a table, or we could sit at the bar immediately which we did. The bartender Chanelle took excellent care of us. We were unsure what beers to order...and were provided with samples until we settled on the Shipwright which was very good. We shared an order of Popeye Dip (crab and spinach) which was so rich and creamy, served with warm nachos. We also enjoyed a two-piece fish and chips which was perfectly breaded and the fish was plump and juicy. An overall delicious meal in a lively maritime environment.More
