Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely little village pub. We had dinner a few nights there and each time it was very tasty . Extremely friendly staff but unfortunately the lovely tenets are leaving. Such a shame as really friendly people. I'm sure they are going to be missed

What a lovely friendly pub at the start/finish of many walking route. Cosy, friendly staff just what I’d hoped for for a quick drink after walking Gunnerside Gill circuit.

A lovely small pub in this small village. It has a great range of drinks and a varied menu, not a traditional village pub menu. The Steak and Ale Pie was not great, far too much Thyme resulting in lot's of stalks and thyme leaves,...maybe I had the bottom of the pan?More

Nice roast beef on a Sunday. Thoroughly enjoyed. Closed Monday and Tuesday, so thought we’d have a nice lunch there on Friday. Says outside hot and cold lunches but when I tried to order from menu was told that was evenings only. Had the choice...of 3 sandwiches, ham, cheese or tuna. Very disappointed. Sandwich was ok but very expensive. So I’d say ok in evenings but unless all you want is a sandwich avoid lunchtimes.More

The King’s Head is cosy and friendly. They had brilliant local real ales on tap from the Yorkshire Dales Brewing Company and local Spirit of Swaledale gin. The menu had a good variety. It’s advisable to book a table.

Our second visit after a beautiful walk up the ghyll. The menu is interesting and the chef is very skilled. We had penang curry, steak pie, scampi and stuffed chicken breast. All were delicious and were matched by old style perfectly cooked puds. Served with...a smile this is a humble pub serving excellent food at very good value prices.More

Always great food and service. Recently had a superb rack of lamb and love the curries. Some of our own guests eat there every day that the pub is open.

The Kings has really improved and upped its game since Steve took over. There is a warm friendly greeting on arrival and there is ample room for singles, couples or families. In the warmer days there is a nice seating area outside. There are a...nice choice of beers etc ibn the bar area and there is a menu of good pub grub. The atmosphere is good and when the locals visit the vibe is nice. We will be going back shortly and are really looking forward to it.More

Yes. Lovely, friendly service. The website says food served until 8.45 but I would go earlier. Before 8?
