My girlfriend and I have eaten two great meals since the new chef took over here. The pub itself is charming and relaxed and the casual service approach they have adopted works well in this environment. The menu is short but innovative and well balanced. Most importantly, everything we ate was packed with flavour. I think the chef is to... More

A fantastic little independent place to drink and eat. Varying types of quality food, very friendly staff set within a cosy, quirky environment. Couldn't recommend more.

Two stunning Sunday veggie dinners to make a cow weep, swept down with a Gem of an ale. The carnivore amongst us inhaled his slow roast belly pork, smacked his lips and using words I can't repeat here declared his satisfaction. You should go, only not when we want a table thank you.

A wonderful find, superb sunday lunch. Small menu with three meat choices and one vegetarian. 2 or 3 starters and desserts. Lamb, Beef and Pork all mouth watering, great yorkshires and roasties, cauliflower cheese, kale, beetroot, carrots and tasty gravy. Desserts were brownies and pear crumble, good strong coffee to follow. Service was good, the place buzzing and a definite... More

Living very locally to what my friends and I call 'The Booky' I'm often popping in for a quick drink, gig or bite to eat. My friend and I went yesterday for Sunday roast and although very busy with reserved tables the staff were as friendly as ever and managed to seat us quickly. I ordered the chicken and my... More

We went here to eat Roast in December after being recommended too, by several friends and family and we were not disappointed! I would say that the main attraction here is the pub itself and its staff. All of the waiters and bar staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming and the pub itself is cosy and quirky. The roast dinners... More

Our favourite pub in Bristol, never fails to disappoint - have seen some great bands in there too! I hope they start doing their cocktails again soon, I was a big fan. Their foodie pop ups are well worth a visit and are very different from the standard pub never-change-the-menu grub. Cheer!

The Old Bookshop is a small, eclectic cafe/bar that serves good food at a fair price. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. The walls are covered in old photographs, typewriters and curiosities. We have guest chefs and pop-up kitchens each month, so menu changes regularly. Don't expect a stuffy restaurant, we are just a quirky little bar that does great food! We also serve delicious cocktails. Our smoking garden has a wood burner to keep you warm on chilly evenings.
