I was honestly very surprised to read such negative reviews as I've not had any bad experiences here at all. I enjoy the coffee and find it very well priced, the same goes for the smoothies. I've never eaten a meal here but I've had the cake on several occasions and it's always fresh and very tasty! The atmosphere is... More

I really hate to be negative about what is obviously an independent outlet that's got some enthusiam, but we really didn't rate this place. The coffee was nothing special, we asked for white coffees but were given black ones with no space to add milk. The mugs were absolutely filthy and hadn't been cleaned properly at all. The price was... More

Well, I enjoyed the coffee here! The food is also really great, especially the cakes. The café has a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. Yes, the loo is in the basement, but it is very clean, as is the whole establishment.

Visited early on a Sunday morning for a coffee. Ordered a black Americano and could barely swallow a few sips. Horrible, soapy, acrid taste. One of the worst coffees I've had in Bristol. Also visited the toilet in the basement and the smell of dirty mops was quite overwhelming. Would not return.

Lovely cafe front, friendly staff and a large garden, that I imagine would be lovely in the summer, but I have reservations it will make it through the winter as its overpriced and not great quality. Sadly, a real anticlimax.

A welcome addition to Cotham Hill l have become a regular customer at various times of the day for lunch or just coffee and cake - the garden is a delight and l have always been 'most welcomed' by the owners and staff. The home made quiche and cakes are superb - yes a limited menu but l have eaten... More

We visited just after the lunch rush on a weekday. The guy behind the counter took our orders and was not rude - just profunctory. We had our drinks in the garden, which is lovely. A really nice courtyard, looks recently renovated. Once we had finished our drinks, we wondered where our cake had got to, and despite ordering another... More

I ordered an iced coffee, expecting it to be vaguely cold, but instead I received an ordinary coffee made using warm milk with a couple of ice cubes chucked in! The ice didn't cool it down at all, just melted into it and I ended up with a weak, warm coffee. I asked the woman serving (possibly the owner) whether... More

The area around Cotham Hill is awash with places to while away your coffee breaks. I stumbled on this new venture a week back and returned today to sit in the sunny back 'garden' area with a delicious coffee and chicken panini. Had a nice chat with the new owners and they seemed charming, so was surprised when I read... More

Today I returned to Le Provencal Cafe after a nice visit a few weeks ago. The coffee wasn't up to much, though the food was very good. Unfortunately, the owner/manager seemed to spend all his time being rude to customers and shouting at his waiting staff in front of everyone. The atmosphere was terrible on a day when the street...
