My sister-in-law had her wedding celebration dinner here a year ago. Reports were excellent. Al Bacio appears to have given up! My wife and another couple booked a table but after the poor service, less than mediocre food we wish we hadn't!. Rude, disgusting food,...dirty glass, too expensive. Four small prawns in my linguine gamberi. Fritto Misto had huge straps of calamari fit for dog food and only four prawns...21 Pounds. Had to leave my table twice to look for non-attentive staff. Too many good Italian restaurants to waste your time and money on this one. Watch out for the (discretionary) service charge added to your bill!More

A very disappointing and very expensive evening at Albacio. Our previous experiences here were so pleasurable with smart professional waiters, white table cloths and great food..... BUT this time after around a year, the service was sloppy, the waiters, in the main were indifferent, and...we had chase a them a lot of the time. The food was sub-tandard, carbanata was completely tasteless, spinach side dish was inedible, tasted awful, way too salty and watery and almost tasted as if it was off. A starter for 3 people of fish platter was way overpriced and far too few prawns, calamari was huge pieces and not nice.... And to top it off, one of our party had a brandy, Courvoisier, a single shot, not in a brandy glass, a wet glass, £18.............HOW MUCH😩😡 Rip off Albacio..... You won't be having our custom again.... A real shameMore

Love this place. Wonderful to sit outside in summer or enjoy the great atmosphere inside at other times. Staff are always extremely friendly, helpful, and hospitable. The menu has an excellent range of real Italian food to suit any tastes. The wine list is also...very good and staff give excellent recommendations. Prices are very reasonable and the lunch time deal is really great. Ideal for families, friends and couples - as well as lone diners too !More

On the 7th of June this year I telephoned Al Bacio asking if they could accommodate a group of 11 diners on Saturday 21st August at 8pm they could and they verbally confirmed my booking. In the week leading up to our trip to Bristol...I tried several times by telephone and once by messaging them from their website looking for a final confirmation that my booking was still good but the phone just rang out and there was no response to my message. On arrival in Bristol I went to check with the restaurant in person only to find the front gates to the property chained and padlock with a note saying they were on their "summer holidays" and would reopen on 23rd August. So I had a last minute rush to find another local restaurant that could accommodate our group! At no time did Al Bacio contact me regarding the fact that they would not be able to honour the booking that I had made over two months earlier. I was ant still am absolutely disgusted if that's Al Bacio's idea of customer service and I pity anyone who goes there because I certainly won't be!More

This was our third, and last visit. Our first visit was excellent, but this place has gone off the rails. Our second visit was not great (but we thought that might have been a one off so we gave it another go), but our last...visit was poor. The quality of food ingredients used by the kitchen is average. All dishes were at best poor and tastless and appeared as reheated glop. There was zero skill, passion or interest shown in any of the cooking. It was like eating supermarket microwave instant food, not home cooked Italian. We were served warm white wine. They appeared incapable of getting anything right, and we even hd to chase the bill several times to leave! Perhaps most surprising and disappointed is the service, or lack of it. From our first visit this was where Al Bacio stood out. But the owner and waiting staff seem to have given up. The friendly welcome has gone, and the new waiting staff are rubbish and disinterested. Our bill also included items we had never ordered or arrived, with no apology given. The writing appears to be on the wall for this place. Overhearing other diners during our visit, we are not alone in expressing fustration about how Al Bacio has gone downhill and expressing a view that they also would not be returning. Looking at the online reviews this is a major issue, which the owner appears unwilling to address. I will be surprised if it hangs on until Chrstmas as the owner appears to have given up. You should too. There are many other Italian resturants in Bristol that will welcome your custom.More

Went with a group of friends, I will never ever be returning. The Staff are incredibly rude, I have never experienced rudeness like it. The older men pick on new staff, young lad called Luigi had only been working there for 3 days and was...the nicest guy ever, the older ones were so rude to him in front of us, just made the whole experience really awkward. So 5/5 for Luigi but the others just rude. I asked for some ketchup with my pizza, the response I got was incredibly rude and made me feel stupid, sort of looked at me and was like “you want ketchup with that pizza”. Looked round the table like I shouldn’t be having it with the pizza, He then rolled his eyes. Went and got some scummy bottle of ketchup and slammed it down on the table. Waits for drinks were 30 mins plus even though they were not busy. Asking for things which never arrived. Asked for some water, waited 20 mins, asked again, still nothing. Luigi was the only one who apologised no one else cared. Sat in some white marquee thing, my other half was sat where the gap between the two was so was getting soaked as it was raining, he was freezing. Coming to pay the bill was a joke, asking to take the service charge off was a effort in its self. It’s optional so I’m not paying it when staff are AWFUL. Things were on our bill which we didn’t have, things we had ordered were not on there. Just wanted to get out from the awful experience. Luigi was the only one who asked us how are night had been, the other older ones just didn’t care. Overall a awful experience and will never be returning. DONT GO HERE unless you want to spend hundreds of pounds for mediocre food and poor staff. Would be nice to get some responses from the restaurant on our experience.More

Booked ahead on the phone but they didn’t seem to expect us, offered 3 of us to sit inside on a 2 seater table very squished, or to have an outside seat, it was cold and raining. Took a while for them to get our...table ready outside. Brought 2 dirty glasses out with our water. Aranchini ball was cold in the middle, lamb was very very rare and we hadn’t been asked how we wanted it cooked. Also an hour long wait for our starters. Staff seemed nice but absolutely would not return.More

Al Bacio has been serving superb Italian food in Bristol for many years and I’ve visited regularly with my family for the last decade. It takes real skill to make very simple dishes delicious such as a margarita pizza, a side of spaghetti in tomato...sauce or the girelle Di melanzane. You can feel the warm welcome at this family run restaurant. Our latest visit was yesterday when in addition to the above we had pollo regina and a sole in cream sauce along with a delicious Sardinian white wine of Pino’s recommendation. Despite being packed and entertaining a wedding party and another large party everything went smoothly. Many thanks.More

Prompt and polite service, lovely surroundings for the tables outside, green and leafy. Delicious focaccia and generously sized starters. The seafood dishes were particularly good. Lots of choice on the menu and we will definitely be coming back. Would be good to see a couple...of alcohol-free cocktails on the menu.More

Order a glass of Rose which came warm - asked for a new COLD glass which they said they can bring ice instead and never brought. Arancini came as starter which was cold in the middle. Main course Penne Pollo, asked to re-heat as very...cold. Waiter said what did we expect as it’s cold outside!!! When the bill came they had added on an extra bottle of wine and a bottle of beer and the owner asked if I thought it was a genuine mistake or not and told my friend that she looked tired. Disgraceful service very slow, very rude and need to be trained properly to run a restaurant!!!!!!More
