Popped in here for a quick beer, which was good if not expensive. Interesting layout over many levels. The decor was a little clinically rustic, the atmosphere inside was lacking (may of been me!) leaving me a bit cold.

Went here for a lunch time gathering for someone leaving work. Atmosphere was pretty quirky and cool , not to sure about the play list though. Ordered some great food though , all freshly prepared and was delicious. I went for the burger and fries which were home made old school ones ! Winning Thought it would be rude not... More

This pub is always busy and its easy to see why. It looks great, very olde world on three different levels. But the food is by far the best part. Its better than most high end restaurants and the prices is such good value. The quality of the food and veg is top end and the service is quick and... More

This delightful tucked away pub in Bristol was a winner. We ordered a beef pie with mashed potatoes with gravy and also a home made toasted bacon sandwich not forgetting a sagovasie and Malbec wine. Delicious! The staff was polite and helpful. Nice ambiance and warm once you are inside the pub.

My wife and I had an early Christmas celebration at The Christmas Steps today. It being a Monday, the pub was a bit on the quiet side so - aside from a few lunchtime drinkers - was devoid of other diners and a little lacking in atmosphere. This did however mean that were the sole focus of attention for the... More

I'd booked this pub for a Christmas do with some friends. When we arrived, I was told that they had the booking in for 3.30 rather than 2 which I had booked, but Josie quickly got us a table and drinks and the delay was hardly noticeable. The food was absolutely delicious and Josie was a fantastic host. We all... More

This is a great, cosy, historical pub with a woodburner, and fresh flowers, which are a nice touch! Really nice atmosphere with friendly staff. We went there for Sunday roast a couple of weeks ago and the food was great, perfectly cooked with really generous portions. There was a good vegetarian option too and it was refreshing to see that... More

A popular and lively pub in this historic part of Bristol, it’s advisable to book if you’re planning to eat and we were certainly very lucky to bag a table on a recent Saturday evening visit. The pub is quite atmospheric with plenty of exposed brickwork and arches and is certainly much improved from it’s days as the Three Sugar... More

I went there last night, with a colleague, for food and a pint. Despite being one of my favourite pubs in Bristol, I don't go there often, so I didn't know it was pub quiz night, so it was more noisy than I anticipated. I had some really nice sausages with mash and gravy. The right portion. My colleague had... More

We were in Bristol for 3 nights. We went to see the Christmas Steps street and this pub/restaurant was at the bottom. We just went in by chance and we were happy that we stopped! It is a labyrinth of small rooms inside on different levels. The toilets are off the bar and upstairs. It has an outdoor space with... More
