Four of us visited Friday 20th May. The booked table was in a great location. The waitress although new was very charming and most helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was really nice as was the food which was exemplary, well presented, and...cooked to perfection.More

First visit here catching up with a friend. Absolute cracking Sunday roast. Had the topside of beef. Perfectly cooked, nice and pink and tender as anything. Accompanied with roast potatoes (with that lovely meat juice / chew to the skin), parsnips, red cabbage, creamed cabbage...and massive Yorkshire with parsnip skin roasted shavings on top. Gravy 👌🏻 Really good lunch and the service was spot on. Staff so friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble. Bit of a drive for us but would definitely be back again. 10/10More

We've always loved the food and ambience at the Old Spot, but haven't been for a few years. It's definitely not the same vibe. Friendly staff but for the price, food portions were small. I thought I'd been given a kids portion burger! And my...daughter's macaroni cheese was laughable, could have fit on one spoon! Sorry Old Spot you were our fav once, but I think time to move on.More

Thank you for your fantastic service tonight. The waitress was so lovely, making us feel welcome and giving us blankets and hot water bottles to keep us cosy! Good food, arrived really quickly too! We had a great time! Congratulations on doing such a good...job!More

Visited here last week. Shown to our table. The manageress was interviewing a guy at a table the other side of the room. I'm afraid that she had not a scrap of self awareness. She was so loud that we joined in the conversation. We...now know that they give 0 hour contracts at minimum wage! Etc. Meal was quite good but for the price I would have expected something a bit more special. O However the real surprise that they offer is that when you get home and look at the bill they have added a 10% service charge ( optional) already onto the bill which in our case was an additional £10.80! Would I go there again? Not unless they change their practices and their manager.More

Start with positives - staff very welcoming, friendly and attentive. The not so positives - myself and partner both had roast beef - which was pink as advertised, but really stringy and tough. The potatoes were also overcooked. We both felt that the portions sizes...were really quite small, especially when considering you're paying £16 each! Think we'll stick to the Lazy dog.More

Visited this Sunday and was not disappointed by the Roast. Beautifully made and worth a little wait due to very busy time of day. Excellent service, very personable staff. We were out on the heated terrace and didn’t mind as it is super cozy with...the many blankets and hot water bottles for everyone’s use. Look forward to going back soon!More

Went for a last minute roast with my friend and her daughter, hadn’t booked but an outside table was found complete with blanket, heat lamp and hot water bottle (nice touch). Had the beef and the pork and both were very nice, sausage, chips and...beans went down well with the sprog and she enjoyed dipping her chips in the yummy gravy too. Great attentive staff and will be returning again soon 👌More

Visited yesterday for a family Sunday lunch. We were nervous to be out with covid figures so high but staff were so accommodating and charming. We felt safe and happy to be there. Food was extremely good and we had the best time. Merry Christmas...to all the staff!More

Read the reviews, heard great things.. gutted I couldn’t say or write the same. I’ve worked as a GM for enterprise for many years, I get the tidal wave, and the impact of the pressure from covid. We were greeted promptly- all good. Polite and...welcoming. Placed at a table, that was almost adjoined to another. I’m sad to see that covid measures are not only relaxed but non existent. The next table placed, meant we were blocked in and had to ask the person seated at the end of the table to move to get out! Drinks and food ordered quickly, waitress was super polite. Less than 5 minutes later the food arrived. We then had to wait for the gravy, then I had to get up to find a waiter for horseradish. The beef looked incredible, pink, thinly sliced. The food looked great and well presented. Unfortunately the beef was tough, this happens. The food was warm at best, the potatoes were hard and almost hollow. I get that it is end of season. The veg was hard and sparse on the plate. The cauliflower cheese was good, but again warm. A check back came just as we had decided to leave. We were offered desserts based on the above feedback, but on the grounds the general service, attention we felt it was right to leave. £16.95 was removed from the bill. I was happy to pay the full bill, but appreciated the gesture. Across the board it was poor show. Attention to detail, the main points of service missed. The outcome could have been very different if addressed earlier. Underwhelmed at every point.More
