Great country pub, rustic in a charming way, lovely food, attentive staff. Meet up with some family on their way back to Heathrow, 6 adults and 2 grown up teens, all very happy with the food and drink.

Very very disappointed! We hired this pub for a family event. Food was good. But the staff were not ! We were told to keep the door shut “ I’m paying the heating bills “. The pub was soo hot. We were ushered to a...private room at 1700 as a quiz was due to start at 8pm !! The pub had 3 people in it. The room we were put in was NOT set up for a function and we could not all fit in it ! Loads of stored tables, a couple of chairs , no bar. It was not a function room. It was terrible and unnecessary! 1900 pub still VERY EMPTY. Definitely will not be returning.More
I came with my whole family for a birthday meal, Very friendly service, very attentive staff with lovely manners and served lovely home cooked food, cocktails and all set in a traditional pub manner
What an absolute gem! Great location , 5 mins off of the M40 j3 and so much nicer than the service stations. Good size car park, lovely fresh food and a great hostess. We had halloumi fries and black & blue burger, cooked to perfection...- so thank you chef! Will definitely visit again!More
Very helpful staff and lovely food , will go again Has a lovely garden out the back which feels like your on holiday
Cracking christmas lunch. Thoroughly enjoyed our time on christmas day. Thanks danielle and family x
Excellent service with excellent food … the chicken wings were superb! The staff were very friendly and efficient….. so glad we found this pub … just what we were looking for.
Myself and 5 friends (not for the first time) visited the Old Bell last night and it was just so lovely. I don't ever write reviews but the staff was friendly, happy and nothing was too much trouble. Whilst all my friends went for burgers...or pizza I wanted to be a little healthier and got the ceaser salad thinking it would be quite boring but i have to say it was AMAZING and i fully enjoyed it where i could easily have ordered another one. Definately recommend and would definately go back again... VERY SOON!!More
My in-laws live in High Wycombe and for years we've enjoyed going for lunches at The Old Bell when we visit them. On this occasion it was Mother-in-Law's birthday. Booked but didn't realise it has been taken over from the previous owners. Greeting was friendly,...starters came super quick and were tasty (Mackerel Pate and Chicken Wings). So far so good, 4 roasts and a Caesar Salad for mains. Worryingly, mains came out literally seconds after the starter plates were taken away. What a horrible sight (think of School Dinners); everything already served on the plate (no helping yourself at the table) awash with watery brown liquid (NOT a rich gravy), the yellow mush turned out to be Cauliflower Cheese, beef look alright but turned out chewy, roast potatoes weren't - they were the shape of a frisbee and looked like they'd been fried on one side (and were now waterlogged sitting in the puddle of brown liquid) and the huge Yorkshire was burnt to a crisp (dark brown/black). The waitress came past asking if everything was OK, before I could answer she walked off. As she passed again, I explained I was not happy because of the above. She informed who I assumed was the owner/manager who asked if I wanted anything else, I refused (if that was the standard of food, no thanks and I had lost my appetite). Nobody finished the roasts but salad was finished. Desserts were 2 x ice cream (can't get that wrong) and Apple Pie and Custard which came upside down resulting in soggy pastry. On receiving the bill (over £150) I noted no concession at all for the appalling meals, I did raise this with a waitress who just walked past. I decided not to make a scene and upset the family so paid and left. Clearly the owner/manager who we walked past on leaving didn't care, she had our money by then, as no apologies were offered. Spoilt a Birthday treat and we will never ever return to The Old Bell. A real shame as we had been looking forward to returning to an old favourite.More
Did not stay in hotel, so this review is for pub lunch only. Warm welcome, full table service, good selection for food and wine. Food was delicious (steak salad, chicken burger, beer battered Haloumi) served piping hot, well presented and generous portions. Will certainly be...back!More
Never really visited the Bell before the Covid. However my wife and myself have used it since reopening. The food has become amazing as has the service. Had a roast today which was great quality and just the right size Would highly recommend this eating...house as it amazing the change the new owners have madeMore
Not a brilliantly sunny August day but the garden is very well laid out and provides plenty of cover, The staff are lovely and the service was quick.
Thank you very much for your lovely comments and for choosing our pub to enjoy your lunch with your friends. We hope to see you again soon! Best wishes, Daniela
Visited on Saturday lunchtime and were really impressed with the friendly welcome. Well written menu, good range of choices and sensible prices We both had burgers which were delicious. We'll be back.
