The positives: prawn chana and sag were tasty The negatives: stuffed paratha was doughy and tasteless, veg madras grim, chips awful. Won't be spending another £42 there anytime soon.

I am a regular Customer so Glad they deliver to Hartree Lane the Food is always Fantastic been coming here a long time
In my experienced opinion this is easily the BEST Indian takeaway in Cambridge. I’ve been using the Maharani for over five years now (both collect and takeaway) and they offer the most consistently top quality spicy flavoursome Indian food. I would also assert that the...food is better than in almost all the sit-down Indian restaurants in Cambridge.More
Its a huge request to whosoever comes over here that please first of all dont come here and if by mistake you come here please do not order food from here! They think yellow water is tadka dal and stale bread is tandoori roti because...this is what these guys serve, I request please do not order any takeaway from here because it is literally very bad Please do not order food from here If you have money to waste or throw then please donate it to some charity or give it to some poor because this restaurant does not deserve your love, The owner is very impolite and is not ready to admit his fault.More
this place once was one of the better ones now it has really started to get bad I dont know why less chicken in the curry barely any yet increased the prices !!!!!!!!
Having discovered this takeaway only recently it sadly has gone downhill rapidly. Each takeaway ivehad has got progressively worse but last nights food was the worst yet. The sauce was watery and tasteless, the chicken was gristley, inedible and the rice was hard. I ended...up throwing most of it away. Needless to say that was my last visit. I don't think the chefs care anymore and just throw the meals together.More
Had three takeaways from here and each time been really impressed. Quick delivery time, great portion sizes and really nice curries with lots of flavour. Would definitely recommend!
Ordered here as it was rated well on Just Eat... I have no idea why! Food arrived cold, chicken seemed barely cooked and one curry was overly spiced when it should of been medium. Also found a hair in the chicken tikka. Would not recommend...anyone to order from here!More
So, this was the first time I have ordered from this restaurant, found them on Just eat and thought I would give them a try as I have been disappointed with the last two places I ordered from. This place really IS good!! The food...arrived on time, delivery driver was extremely polite, food was piping hot! Portion size was very good, more than enough in fact! This is definitely my "Go to" curry house from now on. I had a Korma that was very tasty, onion bhajis (3 and they were huge!) They were perfect, not greasy or over cooked like so many I've had before, and rice that tasted fresh, not like it was out of a microwave! Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed!More
Delivered in half an hour and food was hot and tasty. Have had several meals delivered from the Maharani and have all been good.
I have been using this takeaway for over 20 years & experienced my 1st bad customer experience for the 1st time yesterday. On arrival after spending over £40 worth of food I asked for the 10% discount for collecting my food only to be told...we dont do this anymore? I took my food home only to realise 1 of the mains was wrong & at no point did they offer to bring out , there website states areas above and beyond from me but they then abruptly told me we dont deliver there and we'll credit next order. I ordered a lamb Jalfraize and I can tell you it was like eating rubber, not sure what it was but it wasn't lamb?? All in all not a good experience and I think complacency is a word I would strongly use here, unfortunately there is no room for this certainly when there is so much competition out there, real shame as I will be trying elsewhere from now on.More
This place met our lowered expectations because of how the front entrance looked, the building, and the carryout food signs. We looked at three other places on the same block and side of the street. We hesitated for some time comparing menus. But we were...trapped on this street and section. We preferred Indian and selected 2 biriyanis--lamb and chicken, to go. Six blocks later we were eating. The outcomes were as expected and did not see the ranking of 26/30 for Indian places until now. I think that spot is probably appropriate with the flavor, aroma, and texture of the food, plus benefit of the doubt for walking it to a table.More
Ordered online and food arrived late. Tried calling the restaurant to check on the order but was met with a wall of incompetence and rudeness. Staff member I spoke with clearly spoke minimal English, and should not have been tasked with answering the phone. As...soon as I mentioned having ordered online, he told me to call just eat and either didn’t understand or didn’t care when I tried repeatedly to explain I had ordered directly from the restaurants own website. When I asked to speak with someone else, ideally a manager, he tried to convince me there was no one else there. Eventually I was hung up on without gaining any clarification. I called back and the same person answered and immediately hung up again when he realised I was the same caller and a further phone call went completely unanswered. Eventually my food arrived and on unpacking the order I noticed the onion bhaji for which I paid £3.75 was missing. The garlic naan was also just a plain naan. Given my previous experience of trying to call the restaurant, I decided not to bother trying again. The food itself was average at best and I would not order from this place again even if the service had been perfect.More
I popped in after ordering from Just eat. I chose the Maharani special. This was a great deal with a mixed meat in a great sauce, with special rice and onion bhaji for £12.95. Great taste, great value. Whilst waiting, you could see into the...kitchen and it was very clean and buzzing with orders. Will be back.More
This takeaway used to be the best in Cambridge. Now, alas, a very poor shadow of its former self. The main dish sauces were floating in greasy oil and had little or no flavour. The sauce for our Biryani (which was identical to the sauce...for a vegetable curry) was a pallid and oily stew full of huge lumps of potato and little else. There was no hint of any spice except the vaguest suggestion of some curry powder. The lime rice did not taste of lime or anything citrus based but was stodgy and bland. The only redeeming feature were the popadoms which were at least dry and crisp. We shall certainly not be returning any time soon.More
