It’s a hidden gem. The food was great and the service was great too. White table cloths and a view of the river - perfect.

I booked expecting to order the £18.50 two course dinner but that's no longer offered. The offer is still on the Graduate Centre page for the restaurant but it seems to be under different manganese now with its own website. The charming waiter explained that...the University is tardy in removing the offer from its website. There is a link to the new website showing a correct sample a la carte menu. We were all happy with the food except me. My sea bass was the smallest fish I have ever been served. The minimalist decor is smart.More
Four of us went to the Cambridge Hotel last Wednesday for a catch up lunch. The Cambridge Hotel is right in the city centre and stands next to the river. This hotel used to be a Hilton hotel but has new owners I believe from...the USA. They have plans to give the hotel a full makeover although what we saw looked very good. We had coffee in the bar lounge before we had lunch in the hotels Brasserie which had lovely views of the river. We had a Groupon lunch deal which was very nice. Food was excellent as was the service. Very friendly staff both in the Brasserie, the Bar Lounge and Reception. The parking charge is what you would expect to pay for an inner city hotel £3.00 per hour. We had our car parking ticket validated at reception when we left which was a nice touch. We would definitely go back to The Cambridge again for lunch or afternoon tea which also looked very nice. Getting out Cambridge was a bit of a nightmare as it was very busy when we made our way home at 5pm. Next time I think we will use the park and ride and walk the short distance to the hotel.More
A really great Christmas Lunch for our group of 15. A pre-order made things simpler, but little place cards with our orders on them meant the service was super efficient. Food was excellent - Bloody Mary Prawns, follow by Steak and Cheesecake for me, was...really, really good. Service was friendly and attentive, wine selection good and the dining room overlooking the Cam made for a special day. Pricing was reasonable and represented good value for money.More
had a lovely birthday meal here for my daughter food was great service brilliant and views were wonderful definately worth a visit
We went looking for this place, having read previous reviews, and it is slightly off the beaten track. It very close to the river and a Hilton Garden Inn, you could be put off by the building it is a 1960/70s concrete building resembling an...office block. We certainly were not sure we were in the right place when we entered and went upstairs The restaurant on the first floor gives some amazing views of the river and fields and you can watch life go by. Service is good, unobtrusive with some good food to match. Being part of Cambridge University and being used by the university for functions it is best to book so that you know it is open. The only downside is because of the university connection they do not have any background music and lunch can be a bit sterile - but it gives you all the reasons to concentrate on the food, which is good. Highly enjoyable quiet and good views, in as we found out a listed building. A very good option for lunch Thank you.More
This Restaurant is a little hard to find. It’s basically at the side of the river. More or less opposite the double tree Hilton. It’s in the university building on the first floor. The reviews are correct the food is lovely & they cater to...Vegans & have gf dishes. They are also very keen on allergies. Which is what you need in a restaurant. Maddy, the waitress was also lovely. A very nice place that due to its location maybe gets overlooked by alot of people. Start looking for it. It is worth itMore
The view of the river and the ambience here are a far greater and more enjoyable experience than the actual afternoon high tea. There was no choice in tea served, and we had to ask for more tea bags as it was struggling out of...the pot. The sandwiches were boring and the edges were dry. Where were the expected fingers of soft pillowbread with delicious fillings. No we got triangles of cheap ham and mustard, cucumber, tuna and lastly a cheddar with brown pickle. Not refined at all. The scone was delicious, the cream good but the jam was like jelly. The pastry was nice. The small cakes were clumsy. Lemon possett was difficult to eat without a spoon!! All in all, it's a disappointment. However we loved the outside terrace. Watching the antics of the punters on the river was entertaining. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They did a splendid job on a hot busy service.More
Dear customer, Thank you for the review, but I think you reviewed the wrong restaurant. We are located inside the University Centre and we do not do afternoon tea yet. I hope we will see you soon at the restaurant. Best wishes
Situated in the University Centre this modern building has a rather sterile appearance. However the views of the restaurant itself over the river and punting are quaint and interesting. If you like a more formal style of dining with silver service then this place is...for you. The food is good, wholesome and well cooked but not so exquisite that you would rush back or savour it in your memory. The whole experience is easy with friendly staff and you may feel a little more engaged with university academic life.More
The staff is very helpful in selecting the vegetarian dishes and with the drinks. The service is a bit slow. The food is sumptuous and presented well
