Charming little restaurant nestled in between some side roads and pathways in central Cambridge, The Cricketers offers a really relaxed, casual vibe in the front part of the restaurant, with seating for bigger tables at the side and further back. The service is fairly prompt and our waiter and waitress were smiley and looked happy. Crispy chilli squid and prawn tempura to start (note: one starter plate of squid could be enough to share between two). Both plates were really nicely cooked and the batter was pretty decent. The Honey Duck though.... man. That was to die for. Served on grilled pineapple with salad leaves and rice, the duck itself was cool perfectly, with the fat rendered crispy while the meat was tender. Absolutely will be ordering that dish again next time! The waiter did seem to forget that we were waiting for the bill at the end but other than that I’m the whole experience was pretty good! :)

Have been here a few times and never had a bad meal. The food is always cooked to perfection with beautiful flavours and outstanding presentation. Chilli squid is a firm fav of ours and we always try something new from the menu which has lots of choice. Friendly family run restaurant who always make time for a chat can’t recommend this little gem enough, try and u won’t be disappointed.

Followed recommendations of Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed a Massaman curry and a yellow curry with rice and naan bread. Both were delicious with generous portions and served promptly. There was good spacing between the tables, hand sanitizer throughout the restaurant and staff maintaining social distancing whilst ensuring friendly and efficient service. Excellent meal and good value. Would definitely return

Had a takeaway this evening, the papaya Salad was delicious, very fresh and fragrant. The pad kra poa (beef) was very tasty, however the meat was really chewy and tough. My partner had the pork Siam, again very tasty and delicious flavours but the meat was very tough. I would understand if it was a cheap takeaway but when your paying £14 a dish I would ideally like slightly better quality meat. They were very busy and honest about that when we ordered, they also gave my partner a free pint whilst he was waiting, so the staff are very friendly and accommodating. My only complaint is the meat quality.

To start with, it's important to say that the meal we had from Luk Thai came via Deliveroo and it's the first time we have used this service (and, on the basis of this experience, probably the last). Our meal of two starters, a stir-fry and a curry arrived promptly. The Corn Fritters were soggy, under-seasoned and about 70% thick batter to only 30% corn; the Golden Bags were also pretty bland and dry in texture. Both starters were accompanied by dipping sauces that were unpleasantly gloopy and incredibly sweet. Prawn Pad Kra Pao contained a total of five prawns and some vegetables that were more braised than fried - not crispy or aromatic, or even particularly spicy. The red chicken curry was also insipid and bore no relation to any Thai curry we have ever tasted in Thailand or in the UK. Even if this had been a cheap meal we would have felt disappointed but given that it cost nearly £50 including delivery, tips etc., we feel pretty cross!

We visited for lunch. Sole diners in a slightly scruffy garden. Food was reasonable and predictable. However the fixed price lunch options had been withdrawn (despite still showing on their website) and the main menu quite expensive for lunch. In addition the prices did not reflect the reduction in VAT so that had not been passed on to the customer. Poor show really. All in all we won't return.

This traditional pub that I used to like a lot now says it had a Thai restaurant in the pub we booked for a family group three adults four children service was to be kind erratic two of the meals arrived only after the main group had finished their meals. Given the excellent Thai meal we had enjoyed at the Thai in the Old Cricketing Pavilion a few weeks earlier these Thai dishes were nothing special. Do they even have a Thai chef? The pub landlord appeared to be hiding when I reluctantly paid the bill!

Firstly, it must be said that The Cricketers serve up attractive, sapid food with great flavours and have a wide-ranging menu. Our food was dished up quickly and service was generally okay on that front. All good when you read this, however, I have to be critical. For a starter, I ordered vegetarian spring rolls. This is because I am vegetarian. Disappointingly, I was served duck filled spring rolls. I am so thankful I did not swallow any of it (only because it was so hot!) I had to crack them open, but in doing so spotted the meat inside. All four of them were not what I ordered. Promoting the staff resulted in a muted apology and the spring rolls I wanted. Given there didn’t seem to be too much remorse at first, I needed to cajole the staff into appreciating this was not okay, and ultimately got a free pint of IPA as recompense. Wholly, though, this wasn’t great.

What an amazing place. This is the best Thai food I have ever eaten. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here and would heartily recommend this restaurant. It’s very low key, comfortable and understated; the food speaks for itself. Wonderfully fresh and tasty. Great service too with very friendly staff. And extremely reasonably priced for such high quality dishes. The duck spring rolls were hot and crispy, packed with meat and accompanied by a lovely dipping sauce. The green curry was fabulous. A great experience.

Why "shut your eyes"? Simply because this is the most authentic Thai food We have experienced in England. We had 2 visits in a week to the Cricketers which is tucked away from the main roads near Parkers Piece. We tried a range of dishes, all of which had a true Thai flavour and taste. We would recommend the Issan Somtham, the pork ribs, Thai pork, duck curry and the mixed platter starter. We thoroughly recommend a visit to the Cricketers when you are next in Cambridge. A tip if you are driving, park in the Adam and Eve Street carpark. It is the closest and never full.

Since this Thai restaurant was conveniently located near our accommodation, we decided to give it a try. We ordered some tom yum soup, prawn toast, papaya salad, green curry, spicy chicken stir fry and phad thai noodles. The food was fine, except the tom yum which tasted a bit unusual, while the service was quite good.

Lovely Thai tucked away in an unassuming pub. Don’t be put off by this as great authentic flavours and great cooking are inside. Lovely fresh mixed starter and huge bowl of Thai crackers were yummy. Then amazing massaman curry! Duck was bit fatty and chewy but the sauce was incredible and very good chicken pad Thai!

This was the first time I had eaten here although my husband has been a number of times. In my opinion the decor could do with an update, however the food did not disappoint we decided to forgo the Thai Prawn Crackers and opt the Mixed Starter for 2 this was enough for a starter and very tasty, I had the Giant King Prawn with Panang Curry and my husband had Crispy Sea Bass with Thai Herbs both were delicious. Everything is cooked to order and although they are dealing with a constant stream of orders for delivery, our wait was not that long. The restaurant wasn’t busy and it was a weekday but I would recommend booking a table if you want to specifically eat here am sure the weekends are busy and noisy so possibly not suitable if you are celebrating something special however, if you are looking for somewhere that’s friendly with good food then you should definitely try here.

We popped in here on route back to our Air Bnb and were really pleased we did. Having already eaten we selected a mixed starter x 2 between 3 and I had the Jungle Curry. We asked for it all to be brought together and the staff were more than happy to oblige. Essentially an English Pub on the outside and a Thai restaurant on the inside its quirky mix actually did remind me of the bar/pub/restaurant type establishments you find in SE Asia. You can just order drinks if you wish but the smell of the food soon gets that tummy rumbling. Very reasonably priced too for both food and drinks.
