Very small and intimate thai restaurant about a 10 minute walk from West Road concert hall and on the river. Food is good, but oh so spicy. Menu is quite small, and has all the dishes you might expect. Fairly basic furnishings and decor. Staff...friendly enough, service is good. Good place to visit.More
We bidited this lovely place on 12/11/23. Had some finger-lickingly delicious food and provided excellent service! Waiters were very approachable and attentive with great personalities - they managed to anticipate all our needs. Thank you, team of Sala Thong! We'll have to come back.
We have eaten at this restaurant many many times over the years and always enjoyed it until recently. In June two of our family members were very sick after eating here although we cannot prove it was the restaurant’s fault but we are suspicious. Today...we ordered a take away and it was very poor. We spent £17 on crispy squid and the tiny portions were laughable. I even phoned up after we opened the packaging to question how they could serve up so little. To be fair they offered us a free portion next time…. The chicken satay was inedible. We all spat it out immediately and I’m tempted to take back the sticks that were untouched because the manager needs to know how bad it is. It was burnt but not before it had been totally over seasoned with star anise which did not combine with the peanut sauce at all. We all agreed it was the most disgusting satay chicken we had ever had. Shame, we have ordered it hundreds of times over the years at Sala Thong and it’s always been pretty good but the last two meals we have had have been really bad. I can’t recommend this restaurant to anyone anymore sadly.More
Our favourite Thai takeaway in Cambridge. The chicken and cashew nut, Pad Thai and pineapple fried rice are our favourites. We order from here every time we want Thai food!
rice under cooked the same vegetables, very spicy and not enjoyable, went after high recommendation on internet, but most of the food landed in the bin: duck curry with rice and also duck with noodles nothing special
We had walked past this the day before but really weren't sure but I'm so pleased we went back. The food was great. We chose a selection of starters, a rice dish and a noodle dish. It was all nicely presented, hot and very tasty....The staff were so accommodating and helpful. Such a shame we live so far away because we would definitely be regulars.More
We ate twice at Sala Thong in 2022 after a break of two years due to the pandemic. I am pleased to say that it is as excellent as ever and the food is all well cooked and delicious. I always have the thai green...chicken curry as it is so yummy I cannot bear to miss out on it! This is a super restaurant which has been there a long time now and I hope remains for many decades for my return visits. Try and get a table away from the door as it can be a little draughty there.More
Had a great family meal on New Years eve 2022. Staff where accommodating, friendly and the food came on time and was very tasty. I'll certainly head back here when I am next in Cambridge.
We have come here a few times before and it’s always good. The staff are friendly and service is prompt but not overbearing. We love that they serve proper Chang beer! The food is super tasty. This time we had the duck spring rolls which...were crispy and hot, and the pad Thai and udon noodle dishes were excellent. The kitchen was very happy to leave out spice for me which I appreciated greatly. It’s a small place but everyone is working hard and each time we come there are occupied tables. My husband and I also love the soundtrack in the background! Thank you for a lovely evening!More
Feels like a family run restaurant, really great atmosphere, too busy to eat in. Food was pretty great: stir fry, rice and prawn crackers. Recommend!
Can’t fault this , squid amazing , at last big pieces of squid 😀, spicy dressing that didn’t overwhelm the dish and plenty of it Stir fry full of flavour great spice ness , friends belly pork was excellent , we had lovely efficient service...( we had to be early and quick as off to they’re ) Will return to take time over a lovely experience !More

Visited here with a group of work colleagues, very nice food with plenty of vegan options and great wine.
Really lovely food, freshly prepared and quality food, never had a bad meal there, have been 10-20 times. Only negative is the building hot in summer and cold in winter, due to large glass frontage no doubt.
We arrived at 7pm and ordered promptly, after ordering, an hour later we are then told our order was not process in the system and had to reorder. Mains arrived 2 hours after us being seated. We understand mistakes are made however would of appreciated...an apology or an accurate time of how much longer we would have to wait. (Bar man was lovely)More
