Was looking for somewhere good to eat in Ely, the top one on trip was fully booked. Was not disappointed with this choice. A lovely setting and atmosphere, attentive service, a really good value evening menu, tasty food and wine. Would definitely return.

Six of us turned up for an early light lunch. The Almonary was already busy. There was not a table for six available and so we were happy to occupy two tables with three of us on each table. The friends on the other table were served with their food before we even had our order taken. We were the... More

A day trip to visit Ely Cathedral and decided to visit this place for lunch Had to wait an eternity to get seated, then just inside the door where we were cut in two with a cold draft coming in from outside, very nice young inexperienced girls served us, food reasonable, not cheap but hot. The rather large gentleman who... More

Visited here with a friend last week for first time. The table had been booked by another friend who then was unable to come, so when we arrived there was some confusion with the waitress as she had presumed we had booked for afternoon tea, so instead of bringing or offering us menus just showed up and said 'so what... My Husband and I booked a little trip to Ely a few months ago and I immediately got to work researching on Trip Advisor the best places to go while we were there. The Almonry (in the grounds of the Cathedral) was quite high up there for light lunches and a brew, so we made that one of the first... More

Visited on a Saturday afternoon. Average menu. Food was served quickly. Waitresses seemed very young and lacking in experience. Could have been so much better.

At the entrance, there is two large signs asking to wait in the lobby for attention. We did so, for 10 mn or more. Despite eye contact with the staff nobody came to us. So, we came in to ask what is the hold up: response: there were no table open. Would have been normal to inform us beforehand.

We popped in here late one lunchtime whilst looking around Ely. There are several fantastic rooms you can choose to eat in but as it was nice, we sat in the garden overlooking the cathedral. Being gluten free, it's not always easy to find a decent lunch but here was superb. I had the Brie and bacon toastie, which came... More

Called for dinner last night and the whole experience was an absolute joy. The fish cake starter was beautifully presented tasted great and the perfect size for a starter. The pork belly with black pudding mash fantastic and the mousse was the perfect end to a lovely meal. We both had the table wine by the glass which was fine... More

Best on a summer or spring day, the outside seating area has the best view of Ely in my opinion. With scones and tea or coffee, the experience is quite unbeatable. A small piece of Lotus Biscoff is served with hot drinks. Otherwise, in the cooler seasons, the inside of the restaurant offer warmth and prompt service with your drink... More
