Change the chairs! Great place, excellent food and service, but omg the sound of the chairs in the gazebo is like nails on a chalk board but 50 times louder!!!

During a visit in search of Mothers Day gifts, and without a reservation, we enjoyed a wonderful Sunday roast, which my partner and myself both agreed was faultless. The portion sizes were generous, hot, and tasty, our granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed her kids meal ( plus...some of our roast ), snd the staff were accommodating and efficient. We left extremely satisfied with our shopping and dining experience. Many thanks to all at La Hogue.More

Firstly I was myself enjoying Sunday lunch yesterday and witnessed the way a customer barated the staff because there was no Roast Dinners left ( at 2pm). I’m not surprised as La Hogue Sunday lunches are extremely popular hence why most folk book or at...least turn up a lot earlier. It certainly didn’t require the tantrum that ensued. My hubby and I have been visiting the cafe for many years now and have always found the staff very friendly and accommodating and the food great. During the last couple of COVID years particularly everyone in the shop and cafe has gone above and beyond to look after all their customers through a very difficult time, and in my opinion not enough praise is given. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍More

We booked a table for 2pm and we’re told we’d have to have eaten by 3pm. Fair enough but a bit blunt. This wasn’t a problem though as there wasn’t any food! Initially we were told there were roast dinners. Then they came and said...there weren’t. Went to order to be told there weren’t any jacket potatoes or soup either. This is attached to a farm shop that sells potatoes! How hard is it to put some in a microwave and oven. Been here lots of times before and used the shop but now wont bother anymore.More

We are very sorry that we had run out of roast dinners by the time you arrived for your booking. We had had an unexpectedly busy Sunday lunch service. We had prepared our usual number of meals which are usually ample. At La Hogue we...More

A quick stop for lunch on the way to Centre Parcs. Lovely cooked breakfasts and tasty wraps. You can also visit the lovely farm shop afterwards!

The cooked breakfast is the best around, with high quality sausage, bacon, and bread for the toast. The coffee is nice too. My only gripe is that you used to get two sausages in the big Farmer’s Breakfast and now you only get one. I...had to borrow half a sausage from my fellow diner!More

I visited this afternoon and our group was provided with generous amounts of sandwiches, scones and delicious cakes. Since I never drink black tea, I requested lemon and ginger which was not available. The only alternative seemed to be coffee. All the tea drinkers were...provided with pots of tea which yielded at least 2 cups, I have a less than full cup which was inadequate for me and so I, together, with several others, requested a second cup of coffee. I was told I would have to pay for it, I grudgingly agreed and subsequently found that for a little extra I could have had a larger mug. At the end of the meal, there was quite a lot left over, some of which was admittedly taken home by some of our group,. It seems to me that if the cost of providing adequate beverage is too great, it might be possible to compensate by reducing the amount of food I am left feeling that if this is the image you wish to portray, I will think twice about returning.More

La Hogue Breakfast - very good - really tasty bacon, great homemade sausage, beans, perfectly cooked fried egg, toast - and added hash browns. Pot of tea, plenty of milk. Tables sensibly spaced - all staff in masks/shields.

We were in need of a quick lunch stop, saw the sign on the A11 and popped in. A good full menu of options, plenty of seating (this place is obviously popular with locals), and tasty food - my halloumi salad with balsamic glaze was...delicious, I am still dreaming about it! The shop has a large variety of food and gifts, and the whole set up is very good.More

We are regulars at La Hogue, and usually cannot find fault with the food. However we were left really disappointed with the Christmas dinner this year, the vegetables were raw and even after they sent us out a fresh bowl they were still raw, not...undercooked but raw. We noticed that other customers were also leaving them. The roast potatoes and parsnips were inedible, a rubbery texture. We were booked in at 1pm for lunch, so not late comers experiencing the dregs. However the desserts as always didn’t disappoint and the staff are friendly and pleasant. The Christmas Barn is full of beautiful decorations and a quick trip round lifted our Christmas spirits, but the Christmas food was far below the standard I’d expect from La Hogue.More

The food quality and poor portion sizes have now influenced us not to visit. We were there on one occasion when a diner was complaining about the pate being too salty. The chef came out and said she made it as she likes it... More
