Try and get a table upstairs by the front windows if you can, but any other table would still be worth having. From the moment you step inside this place presents a warm welcome and genuinely personal service on a level that is hard to beat, but without being intrusive or overly familiar. The menu has something for everyone and... More

I've been visiting Alderney around twice a year for at least fifteen years. In all that time I've never had a poor meal here. The service is informal, but never lacking and the welcome always warm. Rita is to be commended for the consistency of her standards over that time. It's no surprise that there are always locals eating here.... More

A very fine restaurant, great food and excellent service. Smoked Haddock ramekin a great starter and the rest of the meal was just as excellent. A very tasty selection on the menu. A must for a meal out.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal; the crab bisque will live long in the memory - it was just outstanding. The rest of the meal was lovely too and we were very well looked after by the staff. It's homely and traditional, not cutting-edge or contemporary, but none the worse for that.

I have again visited the First and Last 3 times in 2016 and this is simply the Best in the UK . I always order my Bouillabaisse 48 hours in advance and am never disappointed. This is quality and 4 times the size of the rip off I had at Hell Bay Hotel in the Scilly isles in June. My... More

This restaurant is unique - it is run by two ladies - Rita and Sarah - they are amazing and just never change - we are always greeted like long lost friends and they give the whole place and amazing atmosphere - the menu is first class with always a choice of fresh local fish which is delicious - the... First visit to Alderney and pre booked a table for dinner which turned out to have a fantastic view out over Braye harbour getting the evening off to a great start. The whole meal from start to finish was a joy particularly as we love seafood and any questions about the menu were explained in full with recommendations given. The... More

I first ate at the First & Last in 1982 and, at least in more recent years, in some respects nothing has changed. The colour Beken photographs have faded and I'm sure the mobiles hanging from the ceiling have been there for more than a few years. The food might be described as traditional. You have no choice of vegetables... More
