Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is one of the gems in Guernsey to eat at. I have always had a very warm reception by the staff. Food is great quality and one of the best Full English’s on the Island. On the one occasion I had a problem, the...manager was quick to respond, sorted it out and were attentive to make sure the replacement was to my standard. It i la increasingly rare that you find attentive owners and staff where service matters. This is one of the places where all the warmth is present. I would recommend for breakfast or lunch, especially Sunday Roasts in winterMore

Sadly a very disappointing meal; Sunday lunch should be the highlight of the week but not at The Kiln! The first plate of roast beef had to be returned as barely lukewarm. Eventually a replacement arrived and while hotter, the beef was tough and sinewy,...4 half slices of carrot, soggy parsnips and potatoes all swamped with gravy, which had little flavour. We left over half of each meal but the staff clearly did not want to discuss when they collected the plates. £17.95 per head is up there price wise with other establishments in the area but quality incredibly poor. Will not be returning!!More

I agree with comments about the rude and grumpy staff. The setting is lovely, the food is good but spoilt by the attitude of the staff who obviously don’t want to be serving customers. I have been there for brunch, lunch and tea but I...feel sad that I don’t feel like going again because of three so far of unpleasant staff. The training in most other establishments on the Island are a credit. Someone needs to train the staff here.More

Visited the Kiln for refreshments following a fun game of crazy golf with my family. With just one exception (the lovely, polite, and happy lady who was on the till when I went to pay), everyone else was miserable, rude and impatient, quite obsessed with...the power and control bestowed upon them by 5 words: "please wait to be seated!" The garden seating needed a tidy up as contained lots of cardboard and broken pots. This should be a pleasant and beautiful place but the staff ruined it. By the look of other reviews about the Kiln, the poor attitude of its staff is a common experience, and letting it down.More

Great vegan options! And really nice food. The service was really fast and the price was pretty good and reasonably especially with the food and drinks being such high quality. When I come back to visit I will be coming back here.

Nice food but pricey. Waiting staff not happy especially the bloke seating people. I had a prawn jacket potato and hubby had a croque monsieur but considered them both to be overpriced for what we got. Not even any butter offered with the jacket

I didn't expect to find a café / restaurant this good in a shopping village, a nice outside shaded seating was just what we wanted on a beautiful sunny day. Welcoming staff and very efficient service, the choice , quality and quantity of the food...was brilliant. Definitely visiting again the next time we're in Guernsey.More

Good vegan options can be hard to find on Guernsey but I was spoilt for choice here. So good we visited twice on our weeks holiday. On the first visit I had the beer battered banana blossom which was 5*. I wish I had taken...a photograph but I was so excited to try it and then proceeded to absolutely demolish it! On the second visit I had the crispy tofu stir fry which was very tasty, totally loved the prawn style cracker crispy strips that came with it. If you're still hungry after mains, there's vegan cake available! There were 2 different cake options available when I visited. My parents (definitely not vegans) enjoyed the daily specials of quiche lorraine and wild mushroom risotto on the first visit. Followed by fish & chips and scampii on the second visit. Both thoroughly enjoyed! Service was friendly and efficient on both occasions. It's great to find a place that has such good offerings for everyone regardless of their dietary choices - cannot recommend enough!More

Very ignorant waiting staff. One specific lady left us disgusted. Food was bland and presentation unimpressive. Hence we were left hungry after disappointing main, we had a go with cakes, which sadly was stale and inedible. Definitely don't recommend!

Food delicious - our burgers were moist, chips fluffy inside and crispy outside. Portions were generous and delivered quickly. It would have been 5 stars if the waitress had left her sarcastic attitude at home.

Went for brunch in a group of five. Food was great, prices reasonable and the person I believe was the manager (a blonde lady) was very good. Unfortunately, two of the sides we ordered never came. When we paid, we asked for these to be...taken off the bill. These were done by the young man, no problem - but then a different blonde lady behind the bar came over with a rude tone and said “Did you ask for these?” to which we replied that we couldn’t get anyone’s attention. She then said that the staff come round and ask and we mustn’t have told them, to which we replied that they didn’t come round to ask if everything was fine. I’m very surprised we were blamed for the food not arriving and it really put a downer on the whole brunch. She proceeded to try and argue with us, no apology. Such a shame that the whole thing was let down at the last moment by one member of staff - everyone else was great and I would ordinarily give a much higher review, but the feeling of the group is that we won’t return in a hurry.More

Specials were definitely not special. Blue cheese and caramelised onion quiche was a complete disappointment. No blue cheese, overcooked and eggy. To top it off cold chips on the side. We were offered free drinks and a discount off the bill. The manager did apology...but still not The Kilns best day. Sadly disappointing.More
