The idea was to pop in for one as we were staying over the road and ended up having a few ales and food. Was a really nice place, the bar was busy but had a quieter bit at the back. Had a large selection of ales and did lager and cider, the food was amazing and reasonable priced. Definitely... More

A wide choice of beers and great food. The portions are decent with good quality chips. All the food is freshly cooked. Prices are reasonable.

Be prepared to get a stiff neck looking upwards at the incredibly high ceilings of this 'beer hall'. The building is magnificent, partly dating back to 1620, with a grand fireplace incorporated into the bar, creaky wooden floors and tapestries on the walls. I am not a beer expert but there are about a dozen fine tasting ales on tap.... More

We were visiting close friends in Chester who invited us to join them at The Brewery Tap which they described as their "local that serves good beer and good food". What an experience. This is a must-visit place if you are in Chester. It's a beautiful building on Lower Bridge Street that has been tastefully decorated. They have a wide... More

Went to the Tap for the wide range of real ale available and reccomended by CAMRA. The menue was quite unusual for a pub, interesting food with lots of fish all expertly cooked and presentd. Very enjoyable and reccomended.

Great pub out of the way of the usual tourist. The selection of real ales is fantastic and the food is fab also. They do a lot of of what some would call 'Offal' based dishes but really i would call them more 'unusual' and they go with teh ethos of using more of the animal. Braised pigs cheeks are... More

We stopped for a quick drink and a snack- would thoroughly recommend their chunky chips! Lovely to be in a place full of history.

Great place to visit with a good choice of beers. The menu was attractive too and we would have eaten but for the lack of tables but it was a Saturday afternoon and it is an ale house after all.

Thank Cameron M
