Chef's Table has received a blend of feedback, with guests praising its exceptional and creative cuisine, although some travelers have experienced frustrating service delays, from seating to meal service. While the service is generally recognized as attentive, there are reports of inattention at times. Opinions on the atmosphere are divided; some find it vibrant and relaxing, while others feel it lacks character. Patrons appreciate the food's quality and presentation, but some are concerned about the value, given the service inconsistencies. The new location, however, has been met with optimism for maintaining the restaurant's high standards.

We found this place on trip advisor and having looked at the menu and reviews we decided to book it for an evening meal whilst staying in Chester. We arrived and there had been a large Christmas party in there before us who were just finishing off which meant there was a slight delay in us being seated. The staff were very apologetic and offered us a free drink whilst we waited. After all it was not their fault that a table of 20 people all wanted to pay separately! We were seated and ordered off the Christmas menu. Being coeliac my gluten free requirements were not an issue. I was given a separate menu with plenty of choice The food arrived promptly and it was delicious. I had a beetroot salad followed by roast duck. Having eaten at a Michelin started restaurant the night before I can say that we both enjoyed the meal here so much more! We will definitely visit the next time we are in Chester.

Never had anything other than a great meal, with fantastic service and atmosphere here, visited today and it was very much business as usual despite the Covid reshuffle of tables etc. The food is amazing, no need to say anything further - although it wouldn't be fair to not comment on the fantastic flavors and presentation. The service is friendly, relaxed and pleasant - with staff being attentive but not intrusive and this helps the easy ambiance. The prices are reasonable for a mid-range eat, but I think the food punches about the price in all honesty, I'd pay slightly more for what I received, which is a great compliment to the team. We finished our food and bought a voucher for Christmas for relatives who who also been before, knowing this experience would be welcomed and looked forward to given the Chef's Table's outstanding reputation.

Four of us ate at The Chefs Table on the evening of the 31st December and we were all very impressed by the quality, presentation and delivery of service at the restaurant. I had the cod main and could not believe how delicious it actually was!! It was nice to have some festive options on the menu, the Christmas pudding dessert went down a treat. Would highly recommend.

We arrived for a 12am booking at 11.54 we where turned away from the door and told we do not open untill 12am . Any reasonable place would have sat us down to peruse the menu and offer us a pre lunch drink. Which of course would have paid for and would have been extra revenue for the restaurant and would have encouraged a nice tip for the waitingstaff but no we where turned away. its a wonder we came back but of course you had my credit card details so we didn't have much choice In my opinion this wasn't a very good start to the experience and in my opinion not the best customer service. Where are the owners or managers are you aware that you have staff that will turn customers away less than 10 minutes before the booking?? maybe they are minimum wage and think its not fair to have to start work before the pay starts? I can see the issue but this could be resolved by paying them from 11.30 am or 11.45.am . By the way we had booked online and left our credit card details but where still called on the mobile and asked to confirm. How many times do I have to say i want to try your food??? Anyway we came back reluctantly and the rest was just ok. I loved all the food the starter was great sole Veronique and the desserts where excellent so all good except the beef . The beef was tough so we sent it back and suggested that they carve against the grain ( I am a trained chef myself) as it makes it easier to eat and it was replaced, but it wasn't much better still carved with the grain not much better than the first meal but at that point we couldn't be bothered to complain again. The starter and dessert where as I said excellent. I would go back there are very good chefs in the kitchen maybe you just need a better meat supplier. However my husband said he wouldnt go back and has been put off by the customer service. Sorry hope you veiw this as constructive criticism and improve on what could be perfect but I think it's better you know. what's going on.

We dined at Chef's Table on their first Friday evening back in the 'pop-up' location (which is their previous space on Music Hall Passage). It is amazing to have this restaurant back and realistically, nothing in Chester compares at the moment! We both enjoyed the beef blade to start, which was a really delicious starter. I had the pork belly, which was exceptional, and my partner had the faux rossini which he really enjoyed, as well as a chocolate fondant. Everything served is finished with so much attention to detail and, it might sound strange to say, but served at the perfect pace. The signature cocktails are of a very high quality, albeit seem very small in their choice of glassware. Wine pairings are thoughtful and the wine itself reasonably priced. In fact, we felt the whole meal represented great value for the quality we enjoyed. All the team were really friendly and obviously happy to be back up and running. We can't wait to come back here with family soon and eventually enjoy the new location, too!

After our visit to Chefs Table I cannot think of any other dining experience I have had that was better. The food was simply amazing, cooked to perfection with every element of every dish complementing each other perfectly, from the burrata with pistachio and pickled vegetable starter to the steak, truffle mash and bone marrow main - absolutely delicious. The waitresses were great and made it a really genuinely, happy experience and I couldn’t recommend it more. Thanks for a great evening 👍

Greeted like a long lost friend, you are 'virtually' embraced into this pocket of wonderful food and service. Staff are extremely knowledgeable about the food and wine and the dishes tantalise your eyes and taste buds. I have never been disappointed with this little treasure. Thank you

Came here as a treat for 3 hospitality professionals after working extremely hard over the Summer period since re-opening. And we were all very happy. Food was excellent, really enjoyed the Ceviche and the Surf and Turf. Chefs in the open kitchen were all working very hard and the FOH service was nice and friendly. My only quibble was the wine list could have been longer, only 3 reds and 3 whites, and given the quality of the food I would have liked the choice of spending a bit extra on some premium wines (best on offer apart from Champagne was a pretty good Mendoza Malbec at £45). The Chardonnay we also went for was served in an ice bucket which was too cold but that’s just a little detail. Overall, loved it, prices were very fair as well. Thanks to those who looked after us. It really was exceptional!

When we heard that the reopening of Chef’s Table after the lockdown coincided with my birthday we just had to get a table and we were so glad we did. All the usual highlights were there despite the long closure - warm, friendly and attentive service and stunning, beautiful looking and awesome tasting food. In some ways we were disappointed that the tasting menu wasn’t an option as it would have made the choice even harder, but at least it gave us a great reason to go back as soon as possible

Up there with the best food I have ever tasted! We had frogs legs, surf and turf, focaccia, steak and chocolate fondant for dessert and everything was just faultless. The pork belly omg!! And all the staff were just so lovely. We will definitely be back!

We had such a lovely meal here last night. Fantastic food, exceptional service - everything was spot on. The attention to detail was superb. My hubby loves ribs so was pleased to see them as a starter but they had sold out. When our appetizers arrived, the waitress also brought over a plate of ribs which was the last few that were left as the chef had heard us ordering them. It was such a lovely gesture that really made our night. I would definitely recommend a visit.

We were finally back at our favourite restaurant for the first time since before lockdown, and you really did not disappoint. The food was superb, the waiting staff were as ever both knowledgable and friendly and the atmosphere felt safe while somehow maintaining the Chef's Table buzz. See you again very soon!

What an amazing surprise meal and first experience (for me) at the Chef’s Table. I must say I am a person with a very basic palate, vegetarian and picky so I was filled with trepidation as I entered the restaurant. Firstly I must say, the service was spot on. Despite the blockage of facial expression due to face masks the staff’s friendliness and warmth came through. Excellent! The food was DELICIOUS. I had the beetroot to start and the nut roast, roast dinner. My boyfriend had the surf and turf followed by the lamb. We both had the fondant for pudding. Both of us cleared our plates in record time. I would love to provide a more descriptive flurry of words to explain how good the food was but I would not be able to do it justice. If you get the opportunity book, book, book. I’m very much looking forward to going again and am very keen to try to grab a slice of that nut roast for my Christmas dinner!

Outstanding service from start to finish. Front of house were extremely helpful and eased any worries about allergen requirements. All staff were friendly welcoming and made the experience one so relaxing and comfortable. The food was exquisite and by far the best meal my partner and I have had in a very long time. We highly recommend coming to eat here to anyone who enjoys phenomenal food especially when you have dietary requirements. This establishment goes to show that gluten free and vegetarian/vegan food can be at such a high standard without compromising on flavour, quality or presentation. I honestly cannot wait to come back and try other dishes. Thank you to the whole team for a beautiful evening.

Well here we are in a very strange world following events which delayed my planned return. Today we are here with friends for lunch and we are all kitted out with masks and strategically seated with deference to personal spacing etc in what is already a rather small dining area it feels a tad weird. The weirdness continues with masked staff doing their best to make our visit as pleasant as possible which they did with flying colours. Add to that a very nice Italian red house wine (pricey though) and my appetiser of beef cheeks in a samosa with chilli dressing and lime - sublime. A starter of grilled smoked salmon followed and it was thoroughly delicious cooked to perfection. My main dish was a bit of a leap for me, Picanha steak which was served pinkish and although flavoursome it felt rather chewy and a little sinewy and salty. I checked out that traditionally this is a Brazilian favourite and apparently is only supposed to have salt seasoning which this did indeed but for me it did rather lack the “piece de resistance “ I was hoping for. My partners enjoyed their various platters and we none of us could manage the deserts which was sad really but we are older specimens with limited capacity🙄 The Chef’s table is always worth a visit and it’s good to see they are still managing to keep afloat in such trying times.👍
