I had never heard of this Marina or it’s restaurant but my husband declared as a surprise we were going for afternoon tea. What a beautiful location, it’s like driving over a little hill to a hidden gem. The afternoon tea was just amazing. Two cake stands, one sweet one savoury with the most delightful home-cooked food. Sandwiches and scotch eggs and dinky cups of the most unbelievable Thai soup I’ve ever tasted. We had scones with jam and cream the size of our heads! Cream and chocolate buns, chocolate cake, chocolate dipped strawberries and pear crumble, obviously we couldn’t eat it all so the cakes came home with us in boxes! We had a huge pot of tea that gave us two cups each too. All for £13.50 each, brilliantly worth it. Well recommended and I can’t wait to visit again, nothing was too much trouble and the setting was lovely!

Visited The Boathouse at Tattenhall Marina midweek, as we had been at the Ice Cream Farm and wanted an alternative choice for lunch. Six of us had a very enjoyable light lunch - soup, paninis, cheese pie with salad, bacon butty, fries. Soft drinks plus one alcoholic! Food is freshly prepared so we had to wait a while but all very nice when it came - all of us were very happy with what we had. Recommend the coffee and walnut cake, made on the premises. Staff very friendly. Nice little cafe, all very clean. Not well signposted - head for the marina opposite the Ice Cream Farm. We will certainly go again if we are in the vicinity.

We are currently mooring at the marina and so have sampled their cuisine on several occasions, it is consistently really good. Home cooked fresh food, reasonably priced and served by really friendly staff. Bacon on toast is a winner, fish a d chip Friday is a must. Really clean and welcoming, well worth a visit.

Found out about this marina from local advertising and thought it would be a safe corvid free place to visit. Unfortunately we felt very let down.... we traveled over an hour to find the place then found it very difficult to gain entrance (we had to be let in by another person visiting who had the "secret" code number for the barrier) We managed to find the toilets, only to find one cubicle had no toilet paper , the hand drier was not working AND there was no paper towels to wipe your hands !! and this in spite of corvid regulations. The permanent menus were handed to us then taken back but I did not see them sanitized during our stay. There was plenty of sanitizer available for customer use by the doors although I did not see it used much!! After requesting our table be cleaned, we ordered drinks - but had to send BOTH glasses back as they were dirty!! We were then told as the electricity had gone off it was cold sandwiches only!! Had we not been waiting for a while by now, we would have gone somewhere else but being new to the area we didn't know where to go. Our sandwiches were very nice though and we enjoyed them. People serving, including the chef, were pleasant enough but I do wish they would all wear masks and wear them properly. Also ensure that the one way system was adhered to - people continually coming in the "No Entry" door instead of walking round. We are sure this is a good place if you want to moor your boat but not really suitable for a family day out.

Visited Tattenhall yesterday with visiting family as I recently bought a narrowboat. Decided to have lunch there and wow they didn't disappoint. I have Coeliac disease and follow a gluten free diet and they went above and beyond to ensure they could cater for me. A delicious ham salad sandwich, chips and side salad ensued with 3 dressings. They have a new chef and she is fantastic. If you want awesome food, great company and beautiful surroundings, Tattenhall Marina is definitely a place to add to your adventures. Bailey, my cocker spaniel and I will definitely be calling in again.

Visited here for lunch during a short break in Cheshire - it was a little difficult to find being based on the marina, but we received a warm welcome and the staff here are so helpful and friendly. Our food was piping hot, and delicious. Can't fault it at all. The setting is lovely by the water and it had a nice atmosphere as there were clearly lots of regulars enjoying Sunday lunch. We will be back to try the roasts next time we're in the area.

I have to start this by saying that there was an accident stopping the delivery from the butcher and breakfast was neatly cancelled for us. However, we were offered a lovely pot of tea and time to decide on what to eat instead of the full English. The chef was lovely came out to discuss and suggested the very nice toast and cheese I ended up with. My partner had scrambled eggs and truth be told the way both meals were cooked combined with the pot of tea that magically kept giving, we forgot all about the butcher and his offerings for the full English we had built our selves up for, ... sorry mr butcher .. I’m sure when you did get there it was wonderful. Pleasant surroundings and we will visit again.

We arrived after what had been a busy service, so had limited options, but this had to be a good sign! We ordered a hot beef sandwich and a hallumi panini, both very tasty. In fact the review of the beef was that it was the best hot beef sandwich ever. The views are amazing here, it's a lovely setting Staff were pleasant and not overbearing. The only thing we would improve would be better signage to get here, boat owners only is off putting, and more soft drink options.

We went there yesterday to get a late breakfast/lunch and arrived just before 12 noon. When we entered there was no greeting or even acknowledgement of us coming in. Clearly we must have unknowingly must have slipped on our invisibility cloaks. We took a seat and saw that breakfast was only served up to 12, so decided to order quickly. The invisibility aspect was clearly still an issue as we were still being ignored by the staff. So at about 5 past the hour my wife sought out someone to speak to and was quickly refused service of breakfast, she then enquired about lunch and was told they weren’t going to be serving any. Only option was to leave and seek a better reception somewhere else, which was obviously not going to be too difficult. As we left at about 20 past the hour, a good supply of delicious looking full breakfasts were still being delivered to tables, quite a paradox. So, not a great impression of the place in terms of service and despite being local, it’s unlikely we will be bothering to venture in again. Poor service and no desire to be a little flexible despite causing the issue in the first place by ignoring us. Thanks very much.

Came here with a friend as it looked lovely on the website. However firstly not signposted and almost impossible to find. After asking a local we eventually found it and had to be buzzed in to get our car through the barrier! When we got into the cafe we were disappointed. We were sat there for 15 minutes waiting for menus and two other couples/friends walked in and got given menus on the spot. The guy could see we were looking around and waiting as we didn’t want to be rude but in the end we just left out of embarrassment at being ignored by staff! I wouldn’t bother with this place.

Absolutely super. Lovely location and great food and service. I was celebrating a special birthday (there were 10 of us) and even though some were delayed we were not rushed and could wait to order once we'd all arrived. Oliver was very friendly and we were hiring a boat after brunch so he served us at the cafe and tutored us on the boat. Would recommend on all fronts.

We cannot thank Olly and T enough for their warmth and kindness as we have joined the boating community, mooring up at this wonderful marina. They have provided excellent service with flexibility and professionalism. Olly is clearly a very skilled chef pulling out all the stops for our late notice meal. T dealt with a variety of unusual requests with enthusiasm and expertise. Together they make a great team and we look forward to seeing what they achieve in the coming year.

Stayed two nights in the floating pod. The welcome was very warm. The pod was beautiful and very comfortable. We had a fantastic sleep on both nights. Enjoyed hand feeding the swans and watching the birds in flight of an evening. Had the sun all day. We ate in the boat house it was full very good atmosphere the service was fantastic. The food was gorgeous and the handmade mergine for desert was out of this world. Loved the weekend away it was very relaxing and for the money this is a bargain for what we got. We have paid more in other places and not had the quality as this place has. Highly recommended

Had a great afternoon cruising on the Shropshire Union Canal. Our boat was the Endeavour and it fit 3 adults and 4 teens comfortably on board. There is a toilet, inside and outside seating , tea and coffee making facilities too. After a safety briefing amd instructions, we cruised out of the marina with the instructor's help, dropped him off on the towpath and continued on. We cruised for about an hour , then moored up for a quick packed lunch. We passed The Shady pub and shortly after that, turned in the special turning area before returning to moor at the pub and nip over the bridge for a quick drink. Took us about an hour or so to get back, all in all the trip was 3.5 hours. The whole experience was very relaxing , the canal boat owners we saw all seened very friendly as we passed. Most of us had a turn at the tiller and its quite simple , plus you can't exactly go fast. Not much phone signal which was great as the kids weren't glued to their phones either. Would definitely recommend hiring a boat , would be good fun to go with friends for a whole day too.
