A Christmas gift to us from family, so we were very excited to be able to book in knowing it is closing in May. We were not disappointed! Quirky venue, amazing food and friendly and welcoming staff. We had scallops, lobster and mussels all if...which were delicious. The locally made bread and white wine complimented beautifully.More

We visited Falmouth last week and before arriving I put us on the cancellation list not expecting to get a table, however, we got a call the day we arrived to say there was a cancellation. From the moment we walked in we knew this...was going to be a great restaurant, the feel of the place was lovely, the staff were so friendly. My 13 and 11 year old had never tried lobster and scallops before and were not disappointed! The couscous salad and chips on the side were lovely. Would highly recommend this little gem.More

Absolutely wonderful place, I love everything about it. Food is truly amazing, yes, there is only shellfish, chips and very delicious bread on offer, but that is what really makes it what it is - shellfish and crab restaurant. Wine list is not the longest,...but the wines there are really good. We love Wheelhouse and will be very sad when it will close the door in May. We will miss you. Thank you for all the fabulous time we had!More

The place is tucked away down a little side street and is spread over a couple of buildings and a kind of courtyard - where small structures ( eg. Half a wooden boat standing on end) provide the accommodation. The concept is simple - a...limited menu - shell fish only when I visited, - and a very basic wine list 'the red or the white' which doesnt t really meet the requirement to be called a list even. I didn't really mind the quaint boat structure we were directed to - despite the actual self/ seat being very small and uncomfortable- I felt we could just about manage in the small wooden thing that passed as the table- because I love shellfish What spoilt it all for me was the service. We were shown in seated then a wait of 10 minutes during which time another party arrived and was seated. A waitress performed the menu to both tables- then took the other tables' order and left not to return. After 5 minutes I found another waitress instead. Cutlery was missing and involved a wait, the wrong bill was brought, . Picky ? Maybe but it spoiled my night. My daughter- who knows about these things told me with a snigger that our 'waitress' was "baked,' The place is super popular because how can it not be when you're serving fresh shellfish so it doesn't need my endorsement - but seriously waitresses - save the happy stuff til you're off duty -More

No idea what the fuss is about. Ate their on two occasions (hoping it would get better) and it was disappointing to say the least. Lobster over cooked the first time, with forgetful calamitous stuff. Limited drink options. Second time half the menu was off,...no lobster or crab. Staff all over the space. As a result I cancelled my 3 and final booking. Genuinely don’t get why it’s rated. Nothing special at all, so many better options in Falmouth.More

This was our second visit to The Wheel House and we've booked our next one already! The staff are extremely friendly, knowledgeable and polite. The food is absolutely exquisite. We had the scallops, prawns and mussels which were divine! Can't wait for our next visit

Used on-line booking system and Face Book messenger to communicate with the restaurant regarding booking a table. Member of staff who replied to my message was extremely polite but very unhelpful. This restaurant is busy and always booked up in advance, so do not expect...to be accommodated no matter what your special circumstances are.More

Had an amazing visit here last night. Relaxed and quirky atmosphere. The staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable. They make the place feel like you've been invited into their home for a fabulous feast - and my goodness what a feast it was!! The...chef did an excellent job of creating a variety of flavours and all the fresh shellfish was cooked to perfection. The oysters were wonderfully cold and salty too. I'm just salivating whilst composing this in preparation for our next visit - hopefully there will be a table available!!! (Well worth putting your name down on the cancellation list - you may be lucky). Thank you to all the guys and gals for making our meal a wonderful experience 😀More

Third time here, never been disappointed, food always first class as is the service. Was slightly worried when told we were being seated in 'a boat' rather than the restaurant. No need to worry, was really cool, sitting in an upturned half boat...nice personal space...and cosy with an outdoor heater....think will request this next time!More

It's a seafood restaurant. That's it. Definitely the best in Falmouth if not Cornwall. If seafood is not your thing probably best to choose a different eatery.
