Awesome fish fest. Visited for the second time and did not disappoint. Amazing, freshly sourced , freshly cooked seafood and sides that are in season. Must have ‘Fred’s Spuds’ as everyone has previously reviewed. Our favourite top ‘plaice’ to eat in Looe. Well done again,...Fred and the team.More
Lovely lady Emma served us. we asked how many scallops came in dish and was told x3. When the dish arrived there was just x2 scallops for £18…. 2x large prawns for £12…. Service was terribly so considering only 1 other table in. Overpriced, so...sorry can’t recommend or return…More
Myself and a good friend booked at table for 1pm Saturday the 21st of October. Emma welcomed me outside the restaurant and gave me two menus for me and my friend. She was a lovely happy lady and even took my large suitcase on wheels...and found a place for it next to our table and also at the end of the dining experience got it and gave it back to us outside the restaurant. We both really enjoyed the meal as Fred the owner and Chef worked hard in the kitchen and produced some lovely quality food. The only let down was when we got the bill and I had added a tip to the bill because No Service is included in the final bill. But when we received the bill the turbot we had that was lovely and fresh the price was £24 and not £18 like it said on that days menu. The bill come to £68.80 that was for two drinks and we had four tapas dishes and shared them. The food was lovely but the bill was wrong….!More
Lovely greeting, shown to the seats with a view!! Left to choose drinks and food, small but exquisite menu. Chose olives, monkfish, red prawns and monkfish! Fred’s spuds as a side! All I can say was WOW every dish hit the spot! Have eaten in...some wonderful restaurants in my time, this is way up there, thank you, compliments all round! Will be backMore
My mum and dad came earlier in the year and raved about the fish market. We came back to Looe with them in October and of course booked to see what the fuss was. We can confirm this has been the best meal we’ve had...in Cornwall, in fact, best meal we’ve had in a really long time! Insanely good food, portions are spot on, everything is so fresh and creative. Wine was delicious, service was spot on. If you’re a keen foodie who loves fish, then this is the place for you. Would absolutely return.More
Nice small intimate restaurant on the harbour. Really wonderful fish and seafood dishes perfectly cooked. Great service too.
An amazing meal at the Fish Market, for my husband mum and myself. As always the food was delicious and freshly cooked (and caught). We had a variety of dishes, lobster, scallops, prawns, mixed seafood, flatbread and the best olives I have ever tasted! I...am not a pudding person, but the 4 puddings the 3 of us shared were delicious!More
Lovely little restaurant ! Unpretentious but fabulous cooking which restored my faith in restaurant visiting. 2 small plates each of beautifully fresh seafood and 2 sides ( Fred’s spuds are unmissable ) left us full but feeling greedy, we managed a delicious lemon posset between...us. Interesting wine list too. Staff were attentive and efficient and we felt our bill was good value for the standard of the food and drinks. I can’t wait to return and will go back to Looe especially to go there. Thanks all !More
Fred and his awesome team never fail to knock it out of the park when it comes to their exquisite fish tapas / small plates, immaculate presentation and friendly service. As locals, we’ve visited many times since they opened for business, and it’s one of...our favourite places to dine in town. Returning time and time again for our fish-kick. It’s a relaxed, informal, intimate dining experience - situated right on the harbour front so you can soak up that stunner of a view. Fred, very focused on quality, freshness and sustainability, sources most of his produce from our local waters and does his upmost to work with what’s available. His flair and obvious passion for producing well executed dishes with maximum flavour, without overpowering the delicate fish, is evident in each mouth watering bite. If that wasn’t enough, his amazing front of house team are there to greet you with a smile, some friendly banter and offer great recommendations on wine pairing - of which they have many options - again doing their best to spot light local artisan makers. Always uncompromising, always amazing, and if you adore exceptional fresh fish tapas, you’ll be in awe of this little gem of a restaurant, and its cheeky chef / owner Fred. P.s. you can’t dine here without ordering a side of Fred’s spuds - amazeballs 👌More
An amazing fish restaurant! Food is served as small plates so between 2 of us we tried 4 different fish dishes and 2 sides. All the fish is caught locally and each dish is cooked differently. Super friendly staff and lovely cosy atmosphere. I highly...recommend this restaurant and I look forward to returning soon.More
A local fish restaurant that is small but perfect. The staff were very welcoming and the restaurant décor was perfect. We had a selection of dishes, including lobster, mackerel and prawns. The portions were a decent size. The food came out hot and cooked to...perfection. The wine list was good, and with help from the staff, we had a great white wine to accompany the meal. For dessert, we had the limoncello posset, which was a great pallet cleanser and the perfect way to finish the meal. We will definitely visiting again. If you haven't been, you are missing out.More
This small restaurant is on the harbour next to the river by the rusty boats and sounds of the seagulls. Fred the chef describes himself as eccentric, the food combinations are excellent and he has a skill for making good fish taste delicious with his...sauces and flavour combinations. We’ve been quite a few times and tend to have four fish dishes and two sides, the sides are always the potatoes and then a salad or vegetables. This time we had prawns (gambas and chimichurri), John Dory with chicken amontillado sherry sauce, Sea Bass with wild mushroom bordelaise sauce, and lobster with tomato, bloody mary mayonnaise. The salad was a variation of a caesar with 3 types of lettuce leaf with different flavours. With two of us this is plenty of food for me, although my husband did manage a flatbread and dessert this time! All of the food was delicious.More
We were very disappointed in the fish market, we booked for 1.15 and arrived slightly early, we did have a great seat outside which is the only saving grace of the visit. It took a while to take our order and we didn’t actually receive...our food until 2.30. This was after checking with the waitress. Some of the food when it arrived was not great, some was over cooked some was under cooked. The dishes even though shown on the menu as between main and starter size were small. They say to share but this was tricky given the size. To their credit they did acknowledge the wait time and deduct the sides but the whole experience was tainted by the poor service. We booked the table knowing it wouldn’t be a cheap meal but to pay £100+ for lunch when it was substandard is not great.More
You get a warm welcome here and a scenic position overlooking the marina. Juicy Spanish Gordal olives and a cold local beer get things off to a promising start. The menu is tapas-style, mostly fresh fish, so there are lots of tasty dishes to sample....The cooking combines the trad with the more inventive. Inevitably some things come off better than others: we loved the char-grilled sardines and the gurnard cured in citrus and spicy green peppers. Garlicky potatoes and flatbread added sone ballast. The fritto misto was heavy on the calamari and the lobster rather nondescript. The Ceasar Salad was also unrecognisable. We skipped the icecream or sorbet puddings. The relaxed service ground to a halt completely when it was time to pay, which was a flat end to an otherwise enjoyable meal. The bill, with a few glasses of wine came to a whisker under £100 without service.More
