Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We didn’t need to book and we seated and serviced quickly. We had a variety of small sharing plates, and the waitress was great at explaining the few things we hadn’t heard of before. Nice quality food and good service. The only improvement area would...be to have a better choice of wines by the glass, this was pretty limited.More

Looked forward to coming after hearing about it opening last year, sat inside which felt very much like the tables are on top of each other. Was greeted by a gentleman and seated and asked what type of water we wanted, no greeting of hello,...are you having a good day or heaven to bid a smile! By the time he came to take our order we had decided on both drinks and food, he abruptly told us just drinks order!? Finally after getting to order food and it arriving it was nice, cheese pies and calamari were perfect but the mussels were quite poor quality and very small (there were a few that were grey so didn’t eat them). The sharing pork gyros was tasteless and disappointing. First time in my life I didn’t leave a tip!More

A really light, bright and cosy restaurant on the quayside with indoor and outdoor seating. All of the food was really fresh and tasty. We particularly enjoyed the cheese pies, halloumi, sausage, prawns, and gyros. Restaurant works well for vegetarians as well as meat and...fish eaters. Service was excellent. Would definitely go again.More

We were underwhelmed. The food was average and the wine expensive. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was lacking. A shame really.

We first visited Yamas for lunch last year, when it first opened. So we decided to take friends there for dinner while we were back in Looe last week. The restaurant was full, and doing a good trade which was good to see. However, the...room is fairly small & the buzz of conversation rose to the point where it was difficult to chat on our own table. The walls are still bare 12 months on, & some good accoustic panelling would certainly dampen the sound somewhat so that each table could enjoy their own conversation. The Sardines Factory have put in accoustic panels on the ceiling which have made a great difference to the sound levels there. 3 of us had souvlaki for main course which was delicious & beautifully cooked but 3 skewers on a plate with a small pot of excellent oregano fries just looked a little beige. “. Maybe a little salad garnish on the plate could be added just to lift it & make it more pleasing to the eye. We did not want to buy a full portion of Greek salad as an extra, we just felt that it would have more sensory appeal with a little colour on the plate. The house wine was quite acceptable, although the alcoholic beverages are not cheap. But all in all, we enjoyed our meal & with a few minor tweaks it could be an excellent addition to the Looe restaurant family.More

Delicious authentic Greek food at a great price. A sunny day sat outside by the sea, Greek music and a delicious meze of probably the best Greek food I've had outside of Greece. As a vegetarian I was able to try Briam, Gigantes, homemade dips,...cheese pies, and Greek roasted potatoes. Not expensive at all. Our table was bulging with goodies including stifado and it still only came to £25 each. Excited to return and try more.More

After a day's fishing, my daughter, son and I had dinner at Ya Mas. It was a real treat and a pleasure to find a Greek restaurant serving authentic Greek food and wine! The chef and owner Nikos took time to explain the dishes on...the menu and prepare them with enthusiasm and love. A class act all round!More

Well, had a couple of buddies down for the weekend, wandered into town for a couple of beers and early supper in Yamas, booked ourselves in for 6:00 and all good, rock up at 5:30 and asked if we could come in from the rain...and have a drink while we wait for our table, we are told that’s not possible as they need to clean the bar and toilets (if you book on line you can select ever half hour including 5:30, 5:00 etc, so not sure what would have happened if we had booked earlier). So of we stroll to the Fish for a pint and back again pretty much bang on 6:00, when we are told, “we’ve put you in the corner and we need to finish and leave by 7:30”, I queried the rush, bear in mind we, we are the only people in here,so look out for the rush, and am told we can go upstairs for a drink after, shame they didn’t offer that before the meal. Anyway! We left them to thier clearly ‘busy to be’ evening and went around to Fifty’s, where we were right royally looked after, with a great buzz, food and staff. Thanks loads guysMore

Nikos and his team were an absolute delight. The food was better than some of the food we have had in Greece! My Athenian dad was hesitant to go to a Greek restaurant thinking he would just be disappointed. But very far from it. The...octopus was amazing. The calamari was fresh & tender - just as it should be. The moussaka was light and fluffy - cannot recommend highly enough. And the Greek wine selection was delicious. Not one to miss if you are visiting Looe!More

We’ve been wanting to visit since Yamas opened last year and finally made it at the weekend. Perhaps we had been waiting too long and were expecting too much, but we were very disappointed. Firstly, which door do we use? The single door in the...side or the double doors leading off the outside seating area? We chose the double doors and had to squeeze past other diners to announce our arrival. Having booked, our table wasn’t ready. We understand that. The previous occupants were enjoying themselves and weren’t rushed, and we were invited to go upstairs and have a drink at the bar whilst we waited. Sadly, there was no barman so drinks weren’t forthcoming. Once seated, again squeezing past other diners, we chose from an excellent menu and eagerly awaited our Greek food. More disappointment, disappointing beef stifado, oregano fries with no obvious oregano, bland chicken skewers with an equally bland paprika mayonnaise and overly salted prawns. Having since seen the reviews, Yamas have clearly listened to some of them and increased portion size (we had too much) but they also need to remove a table so that diners and staff can move around the restaurant. It would also behove them to respond to reviews instead of completely ignoring them! Our evening was not the authentic Greek evening we were looking forward to, we hope that others have a better experience.More

Great service! Yummy food, beautiful setting. The menu appears quite rigid with minor changes to meals not possible (ie no tzatziki) so not. Great choice for any fussy eaters (I assume they would accommodate allergies but we had no experience of this so can’t comment)....The staff were lovely, the cocktails and wine delicious and the menu authentically Greek with gyros, stifado etc. on the harbour front with lovely views. Would recommend highly.More

Me and a friend visited on Thursday, we love Greece and love Greece food but did not realise that this restaurant had Greek chefs cooking authentic Greek food. I can’t not possibly put into words how delicious the food was and how lovely the restaurant...is. The customer service from Nicki who waited on us and Nickolai the chef was amazing even going as far as letting us try the fresh baklava and packaging up some to take home. My friend was in Cornwall visiting but I live here and this will definitely be somewhere I will visit again regularly!!!More
