Been visiting Wax for many years. Out of season so very quiet on both of our visits. We didn’t eat but had many drinks. Matthew worked hard cleaning and sweeping. It was my birthday and I had a great evening. Matthew played our favourite songs...and sent photos of our evening to me (upon my request). We will return.More

We have been visiting Wax for nine years but this year will be our last visit sadly. We have always loved Wax and feel like it’s like revisiting an old friend however this year the legendary nachos were were dry and had obviously sat under...a heat lamp for ages before being brought out you had to literally fight with knife and fork to separate them and the portion size was so much smaller than previously. Restaurant was very quiet so cannot blame it on being busy but main courses same thing maybe nice when they were first prepared but seemed like they had been sat somewhere before being served pizza crust cold and Rick hard pizza tough the seafood linguine had virtually no sauce as all sunk into pasta. The place seemed scruffy and tired and in need of a revamp won’t returnMore

Some friends and I visited last night (Thursday) for the Tapas menu. We were blown in the door by the wind ! But they had the log fire going so sat by that. The lady serving us was very friendly and helped with our choices....3 tapas and a glass of wine for £20, we thought was very reasonable as the portions are on the larger size for tapas. I can recommend this for a fun evening with the girls. All the food was lovely but the meatballs and chorizo skewers were my favourites.More

Absolutely delicious food again! This is a consistently good restaurant with food that never disappoints. The staff are friendly, kind and attentive. They check your food is okay and always ask of there is anything they can get you. I love that nothing is too...much. I will often go for a long walk along the shoreline with my 3 dogs. Then come in for some food, my dogs are wet and sandy but they are always attentive to them too. There is a water station for the dogs and biscuits. And when mine make a mess (having a drink) they don't get cross. They give my dogs attention and that means so much to me that they are welcome too. They host lovely events, such as point break cliffside cinema...which was on phenomenal!! Dog walk events and support local charities and businesses. Really is a lovely community of staff and patrons. Could not ask for more.More

An absolute amazing place, the food is amazing… sometimes you have to wait if it is busy but that’s what you would expect for freshly cooked food. If you want fast food go to McDonald’s! The venue is second to none and the staff couldn’t...be anymore helpful and professional. I would highly recommend a visit.More

Great for a casual night out - food was delicious, fish of the day (haddock) was very tasty, the pizza was also very good. Very pleasant staff & reasonable prices, so would highly recommend.

Awful. Chicken wings were ridiculously spicy it was burning our mouths. The squid was clearly frozen from a big food supplier. They were cold and barely fried. The pizza was edible but disappointing. £58 down the drain. Avoid.More

Okay so I’ve experienced Wax’s pop up’s many times and although pricey I’ve always bought their food as it’s always been of great quality. So today! I went to their latest pop up at Watetgate and choose them over their competitors because I’ve had a...great experience before but this time I requested a refund and in fairness to the lady who served me I got no quibbles. Wax has grown and grown so today should never have happened. You had a chef and a retailer. Two people at a very popular motor event how on earth could they have kept up with the demand? Not only that money was taken at a rate of knots but the food was not being served. The chef was okay with hygiene but the server was taking money and preparing food not ever sanitising, NOT ONCE. The vegan and veggies orders were not being prepared properly AT ALL. Wax help your staff members and do better. I got a refund after waiting over 24 minutes for a burger that had been cooked and stored in a hot storage thing!! I’ll not bother with Wax again today was disgraceful.More

Food looked great when bought out. Shame it was all out of a packet. Salt and pepper squid was clearly frozen, tasteless and over cooked. Beef brisket on the nachos was dry, cold and flavourless. Guacamole and other toppings where clearly out of a squeezy...bottle. Fine maybe for a Wetherspoons but not something you’d expect from somewhere with such high ratings. Was disappointing.More

Pleasant staff bring our food but otherwise sadly disappointing food. Tasteless salt & pepper squid (couldn’t even taste the salt or the pepper), ditto the mozzarella sticks. Standard frozen chips which were fine but expensive. There are better places to eat in Watergate BayMore

We’ve been coming to Wax most years for the last 10 years (was the Phoenix previously) We love the fabulous spot on Watergate Bay, the views and chilled vibe. Noticed a few annoyances this year- hope the owners look to invest in this bar as...it’s a fabulous place and as we know from previous years- has the potential to be outstanding. The staff are a credit, all warm, friendly and smiling- but you can tell they are under immense pressure (under staffed?) We arrived early for our table so decided to enjoy a drink first. I went to the downstairs bar to order. I wanted a Prosecco- was told none left. Ok, I’ll have a glass of Sauvignon instead. Was told only have a bit left in a bottle and no time to go to fetch more?! Ok, I’ll just have any white wine then! No wine glasses left, so came in a gin glass. When ordering our food we wanted starters and mains- told it all has to come together as that’s what they do in summer. If that’s what they ‘have to do’ in Summer to cope with the peak season rush- they need to invest in more staff, in my opinion. We scrapped the starters off and just had mains. Food was nice- burger, fish and chips and a pizza. It was the week before Boardmasters, so who knows how they will cope next weekend.More

Visited for lunch with family. On a positive note the staff were friendly and efficient. The downside is the food. Overpriced with often poor quality ingredients. £16 for a plant burger, with quite a poor quality roll, hardly any salad, and 2 hash browns put...in the middle. £6 for onion rings that were simply overprocessed mush. It all felt pretty mean spirited. We won't be backMore
