Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This business has moved since the last time we visited and now there is even more space but the food is just as good as the first time we visited. Staff really friendly and helpful, all of our food was fantastic, my son is 8...and he loved it all. We will definitely be back.More

Delicious Nasi Goreng that took me back to Bali 20 years ago. Lovely atmosphere and staff, will definitely be going back when I’m next back in Newquay

What a find, a real diamond in the rough that is Newquay. The staff are friendly, attentive and efficient. The decor is tasteful, the ambience calm and welcoming. They serve a mixture of Indonesian & Asian food and the dishes we had were superb. In...addition, the cost was very reasonable. All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience and a lovely meal.More

£5 for prawn toast, £9 for a couple of Gyozas and £18 for a massaman curry. The prices are way too high. Service was poor too. Waited ages for our starters and they bring the mains out instead. She said it’s a mistake and we’ll...bring the starters. Another 10 minutes. Gyozas we’re tasteless. The massaman curry was nice but not much chicken in it. They had the cheek to include a service charge too. Wouldn’t return.More

We'd been looking forward to coming here for a while as we couldn't get in last time we were down in Cornwall. But in summary, the portion sizes weren't that big for the price. But mainly, the pad thai was very unbalanced in the flavour,...way too much lime. And for us, as a restaurant that specialises in Thai food, to not be able to get Pad Thai right - that's a worry. Spring rolls were nice but you only get 1 each (that they cut in half to make it seem like you're getting more)More

Not sure what the hype is about… We visited after being recommended by multiple people and seeing glowing reviews online. It was nothing above average. Basic looking restaurant (not aesthetic like it looks online) toilets were very dangerous and didn’t close or you’d get trapped...in! Greeted by a rude lady who was too busy on her phone when we walked in and didn’t raise her head to greet us. Waitress was okay but hardly spoke. Took our food & drink order awkwardly by just staring at us not even asking. Never checked to see if our food was okay. At the end of the meal we hadn’t even asked for the bill and she put the card machine in our face! We still had 45 minutes left on our table but they couldn’t be quicker to hurry us out! Food was good but way over priced! I had the Tempeh Korean Bibimbap which was £17 for some greasy tempeh, plain rice, stale Asian salad & an egg. Overall very average, glad we went to see what it was about but we won’t be back again 😊More

I love a pad Thai and I was looking forward to tucking into one after a long day of walking on the south west coastal path. We got two pad Thai’s and some prawn crackers with dips to take away. We enjoyed our dinner over...looking the beach which was lovely. I did enjoy it but it was much to spicy for my liking. Normally pad Thais are mild so I didn’t think to say not spicy. Loved the prawn crackers and the dips they came with. I like definitely return but would ask for it to be less spicy next time.More

Whenever we are in the area this is the first place we book. The food is first class and the staff are so friendly. The Korean people ribs were excellent. Can’t wait to return!

Lovely restaurant with fantastic food and reasonably priced drinks. The restaurant serves Asian food from Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and China. We had duck and pancakes and chicken and beef for starters - the duck, in particular, was as good as I’ve eaten. We had...Chicken Rangdan, Chilli Beef and Thai green curry for mains. All were delicious but the chilli beef was the best I’ve ever eaten. Ice cream and sorbets were on offer for dessert and they were amazing - served with lovely little side interested - mini meringues, lime gel are two I remember but I think there were 5. Highly recommended.More

In Newquay for one evening after completing a section of the SW Coastal Path. We were somewhat underwhelmed by the town, so didn’t quite know what to expect from the restaurant. Very happily surprised by Kahuna. Nice buzzy atmosphere and good decor. Welcoming and friendly...staff. Varied pan Asian selection on the menu. Authentic tasting and flavoursome food. After some very crisp and tasty prawn crackers, we chose the aromatic duck to share for the starter. It would have been a nice touch for the waiter to prepare the duck at the table. I like the crispy skin mixed with the meat, but there was no skin. Not sure if the duck comes already prepared? That’s not a complaint, just a personal choice. It was tasty and the sauce was great. Plenty of pancakes too. Maybe a little more cucumber and spring onions. Mains were beautiful! Chilli beef and the ribs! Rice great too! All in all, highly rated and highly recommended. Made our stay in Newquay!More

We arrived early and sat down for a drink but a table was cleared and we were squeezed in earlier which was great. Service was prompt. We enjoyed the gyoza starter, prawn crackers and seaweed which was all fresh. The pad Thai came out in...reasonable time. Both nice and tasty. Plenty of food and good value for money.More

This is a great spot for an early dinner with the family. Our two children were adored by the staff and Sophie in particular was great with them. Whilst it took a while for the food to come out the children were well cared for...by the team and it was certainly worth the wait. With two fussy children and a vegan to cater for the menu was a real treat. Flavoursome and delicious as well as well presented. The food was utterly delicious and there were some interesting beers to try as well. Parking at the station was a little tricky as it was a busy time of day but there are a couple of parking places nearby so not an issue. A definite recommendation from us!More

Had a really nice meal here, food was amazing and service was friendly and efficient. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was the price of the drinks - nearly £5 for a coke!

Just had takeaway from kahuna. The tempeh jungle curry is amazing (hot but super tasty) tofu penang was equally tasty. Rice perfect and spring rolls perfect. Thanks so much. 2 happy vegans.

Booked Kahuna for a birthday meal during our trip to Newquay. We had read good reviews and we love thai food, so were excited for our visit. Unfortunately, it was all very underwhelming. I'm confused as to how our experience was so poor compared to...others, but we did have a 9pm table booked as it was all that was available, and it pretty much felt like we were an inconvenience to the staff. Whilst the food was okay (wasn't anything to rave about), the service was shocking. It felt like the staff were really moody and couldn't be bothered to serve us. There were no smiles, check ins, basic manners, and it just seemed really off. The lady who served us, who I think might have been a more senior member of staff, was so grumpy. We ended up leaving straight after our mains as they brought the birthday vibes down... wouldn't go again.More

I have never seen dogs in this restaurant, maybe guide dogs or dogs for the disabled. This may have to be by prior arrangement for table placings. Hope this helps.
