We booked a table for a Tuesday night in August at 9pm. When we arrived, we were shown to a spacious booth near the front of the restaurant which was separated from nearby tables by a plastic screen. We shared a bottle of wine and ordered the avocado in kataifi pastry and the marinated mushrooms for starters. The starters arrived quickly and were both delicious and ample in size. We chose the kangaroo and chicken supreme mains which took a while to arrive, owing to the restaurant being full to capacity. The mains were beautifully presented and cooked perfectly and we left the restaurant feeling full and very satisfied. This restaurant also had the best covid measures in place out of all of the restaurants we visited during our stay. Due to the Eat out to Help out scheme we only paid £51 for our meal which was amazing value for money. We would 100% recommend Bush Pepper, make sure to book a table if you want to visit.

Amazing food which tasted as fabulous as it looked. I would definitely recommend the bush tucker starter and pork belly main, the chef is really talented. With generous portion sizes, we felt this restaurant was very reasonably priced. Kind and attentive service, I would definitely recommend this restaurant for gluten free guests as I never felt overlooked or forgotten. The complimentary gluten free bread was a lovey surprise, making gluten free guests feel immediately welcome.

Had some lovely food. Really excellent. Had a lovely two course meal with a lovely bottle of white wine. The menu is very good. It’s a small restaurant on the front so I would advise booking ahead especially with many more people staying in the U.K. these days. I had kangaroo for main and it was lovely. Forgive me for the poor description but all the staff were very helpful but the young tall lady with blonde hair was excellent. Apologies I didn’t get her name. I was given a free homemade type baileys drink on the house which was very nice and I was allowed the recipe as well. I would 100% come back.

We had booked a table but when we arrived we were told our table had been given away and the family were not finished yet - we could wait outside or sit on a small awkward table next to the door. We chose the table next to the door due to the 40mph winds. When we sat down we asked if we could have a different table further into the restaurant that had just become free, this was allowed however we were later told just before sitting, that due to cleaning these chairs were now soaking wet. Appreciate the cleaning effort due to current pandemic but they could have been dried a little? We sat on the wet chairs and waited to place our order. Ordered a medium rare steak that came overcooked, and waited another 10 minutes for a new one. The staff were clearly trying and it was appreciated, unfortunately they didn't seem able to handle the situation or maybe we just came on a bad night. Overall rushed, poor service with no care for each table.

Disappointing visit. The food is pricey so we expected service to match. How wrong we were. Felt like a complete inconvenience like we have felt in a couple of other places in Newquay. The waiter had a stinking attitude and shouldn’t even be in this trade without the basics needed to be human to customers. The food was okay but not worthy of the prices charged. The staff seemed very uninterested and absent....shame. This time of year is busy, we get that, but when we want to spend our hard earned money eating out it should feel appreciated not welcomed with such attitude. We won’t be coming here again.

Booked a table of 8 for my partner's birthday brunch. We own a cafe and so we are very well aware of the stress new policies and procedures are having on hospitality. However, nothing excuses the rudeness displayed by the waiter with pink hair. His attitude stank and really made us feel uncomfortable. An example, after waiting nearly half an hour for two vanilla milkshakes, we politely asked if they had been forgotten. Five minutes later, he brought them to our table and slammed them down in front of my very well behaved daughters with a face on him like thunder. This continued throughout the time we were there. To the point that when my food arrived, I was too nervous to ask for any condiments for fear of riling him up. The restaurant was not overly busy, so I'm struggling to see why such a blatent, obnoxious attitude was called for. It really ruined the occasion. As regards the food, it was absolutely delicious. Just a shame it was tainted by the awful waiter with pink hair. We have eaten many times in Bush Pepper, but I would not want to return incase I had to encounter him again.

Whilst looking for some breakfast / brunch we’ve come up trumps and stumbled across this beauty. We had walked past it previously and was intrigued so checked out their reviews. Great result as the food has been excellent. We went for a full English, Dukkah eggs, a flat white and a latte. (Dukkah eggs are poached eggs avo and mixture of crushed nuts sprinkled over the top of you were wondering 10/10) very helpful staff and were more than willing to trade out items off the full English for extras at no extra cost - always a big win as I hate mushrooms. Chilled vibes and very reasonably priced too, £20 for two people is just right! Look forward to coming next time.

So pleased we could get a table here. Simply excellent in all respects. Front of house staff delightful, helpful, and unobtrusive. Food simply brilliant. Braised shoulder of lamb and kangaroo steak, was beautifully cooked and presented. Sweet potato wedges to die for. Stir fried vegetables wonderful. Australian wines just superb. Can't wait for the next time.

Visited here recently with friends from up country. Living locally, we have been here a few times. Pre-booked the day before which is required at the moment as they were turning a lot of people away who hadn’t pre-booked. The Calamari and the King Prawn starters were fine. The Prawn Katsu Curry was very tasty and had a bit of a kick to it. The sea bass looked very nice as did the Hake dish. We all enjoyed the upside down Mango cheesecake. Only minor criticisms would be that they give you one small bread roll to share between two people. The trade cost of another bread roll would be minimal. By the end of the evening, a large number of empty glasses and bottles were left on the table but not cleared by the waitresses at any stage. Overall, we enjoyed and would return.

Just had an outstanding 3 course meal from Bush pepper this Evening! the daily bao bun is a new addition to the menu and an absolute must have. Everything we had was packed full of flavour and very well cooked. My fiance who is vegetarian was also well catered for as they have a refreshingly different vegetarian/vegan menu with no mushroom risotto or halloumi burger in sight! We had a lovely evening and will definitely be going again soon. Thank you to Bush pepper team.

The first time we ate there we pre booked without knowing the restaurant after reading positive reviews, We had a warm welcome and were shown to a safely distanced table in front of the bar area. Like many small restaurants, the PB doesn't have a lot of space to play with in order to spread people out, but we felt safe at our table. Although this no longer applies as waiting staff now have to wear face coverings, we would have felt even safer if this had been the case on our first visit, as the waitress got quite close to us. We both chose Chicken al Forno and it was excellent - a very much more interesting, and very filling, version of chicken topped with bacon and cheese. It was the best meal in our 1 week stay in Newquay and we were far too full for a dessert. As we hadn't yet booked anywhere for our last night and had enjoyed our food so much we asked if they had a reservation for 4 nights later. By then the 10 pm closure had come into being and we were told that we could have a table for 9 pm, bearing in mind that we needed to be out of the restaurant by 10 pm. I have only given the PB 4* as while our meal was superb, it took a while to have a drinks order taken on both occasions. This was particularly crucial when we only had a hour for our meal.

We visited this week while on holiday and, while the food was good and as expected, the service was very unenthusiastic. Waitress didn’t know the menu, the waiter or Maitre d would put menus or food down and just turn his back while he was doing it as if he had something better to do. Maybe he did. He tripped out the same line with no enthusiasm about 15 times during the meal “thanks guys” while looking the other way. No real engagement . Such a shame as could have been 4 or 5 stars. Training needed to achieve that .....

We pre booked due to COVID - so glad we did. Although fish delivery had not arrived had a great laugh with the waiter about this and ordered the mushrooms and prawns to start with rump steak and mushroom tofu nodule main. Freshness of ingredients presentation and taste amazing - staff fun friendly and attentive- cheers guys awesome!!!

Called to see if we could book and Rosie booked us in for the following night. Menu looked great and we were really looking forward to our meal. We arrived and our booking seemed to have not been made. Waitress wandered off and pulled some chairs around. After waiting she took us over. No apology. We sat and waited a while. Two waitresses had a chat behind the bar. We felt throughout the meal that we were a burden on the waitresses‘ time. Drinks had to be requested twice. Starters arrived and were nice. Mains arrived. Two of the family had steak. We requested a steak knife. One was brought so we had to request another. Food was mediocre, too many flavours being put onto the chicken dish, steak quite fatty, large roast potatoes rock hard in the middle. No evidence of cleaning beyond a wipe over tables. Didn’t see staff sanitising hands. Feeling like we were asking too much to be served we decided to forgo the dessert. We went on a eat out to help out day so can’t complain about prices. For a standard meal it’s acceptable. For the experience the website offers it’s disappointing.

From the nibbles you're given upon arrival to the main course, the food was stunning and full of flavour. The pudding was a bit mediocre but only because my main tasted so good it was difficult to beat. We visited 2 weeks ago, it was so good we're going again tonight!!
