Situated overlooking Fistral beach with its amazing views. As the weather was very mild some diners were eating outside!! Visited this place 2 or 3 times a year since it opened and have always had fantastic meals there. An added bonus this time was a separate veggie menu, as we had 2 vegetarians in our party. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable and you can see your meal being prepared in the kitchen. The place was full and we could see many diners who hadn’t booked being turned away. Can recommend this place without reservation. Can’t wait for our next visit. Well done to ALL the staff concerned.happy 2020 to you all!

Dinner two nights in a row. Seafood Risotto sublime, Balinese Monkfish the second night so ‘meaty’ with the carrot and ginger leaving a glow on the palate. I didn’t choose a dessert either night as I didn’t want to lose the taste of my main course . Each main course remained unusually hot throughout the meal. The flavours in the Risotto, the Moules, my wife’s Seafood Linguine were everlasting. The staff were so friendly and often very tolerant ! One cannot fault the Fish House, the effort put in by Elise, Paul and team in responding to e-mail requests late at night whilst maintaining the business 7 days a week from lunch until close - so why the hell do people book tables and NOT TURN UP! Shame on you. The Fish House doesn’t have many covers, reduced further by lockdown restrictions so for those insensitive selfish people who make reservations at a variety of restaurants in popular destinations to keep their options open - SHAME ON YOU. Some caterers offer so much passion and commitment not just to make money but deliver joy and help make memorable dining occasions. The people who make these phantom reservations are often not short of money but clearly lack some class and respect. I’m no foodie, just a tourist who would rather spend £100 for a lovely dinner with wine for two than 4 Dinners at a branded establishment offering food I could cook at home. Rant over !!

Thank you for your rant!! We really appreciate your support, it is very frustrating when we only have 5 tables left inside when large bookings don't turn up. It does seem to be a huge problem at the moment They don't consider the costs for the business, specially post lockdown. Anyway, we are so pleased you enjoyed your evenings with us and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Taking an early autumn break and using Newquay as our base, we wanted to find a fish restaurant to eat in. Unfortunately, there didn't seem to be many proper restaurants at all in the town, but this one came to the top of the search engine lists! The reviews do not let this lovely little place down. We didn't book and just turned up on the off chance that we could get a table. We were extremely lucky that we did! Its a very small rustic place with a warm and friendly feel. It is very clean and they have paid particular attention to social distancing and hygiene without making it look 'OTT' like the supermarkets do. Our waiter was lovely. He greeted us at the door and explained the hygiene procedures whilst showing us to our table. Once seated he took a drinks order and explained the specials (fabulous) and gave us plenty of time to order. The food here is outstanding. The owner is also the head chef. This guy knows what he is doing. We loved every single bite of starter and mains that we ordered. We were that full we couldn't manage a desert, but that didn't matter. Service was very attentive throughout and I liked the way the staff knew immediately when you wanted their attention. In terms of value for money, I would say that the menu pricing was spot on for the quality of food and the service that we received. I cannot recommend this lovely little restaurant highly enough. Shortly before we left we asked the waiter what the bookings were like and were very surprised to hear that they were fully booked for the next month, right into November (we visited on 06th October). ** Make sure you call and book in advance if you want to visit is my advice to you ** Perfect is all I can say. We WILL visit again when we are next in Cornwall... Beats Rick Stein in Padstow any day!!

Amazed to get a reservation given how packed this place is, but so happy we did. Came here for partners birthday, sat on the terrace which was gorgeous, can't beat the view. Had the shellfish hotplate and shellfish gratin, both to die for and very generous portion sizes, given the quality of seafood. Had their homemade bread as well and that was perfect to mop up the sauce! Had the lobster special, which was amaaaazing. I know some people think the prices for lobster at a restaurant are high, but genuinely saw fishmongers selling lobsters for the same price that day. Lobster came with sides, which was almost unnecessary as the lobsters were HUGE. Had some lovely wine with the meal. Really want to compliment the staff, who are genuinely passionate about their job, and make you feel so welcome. The friendliest staff I have met at any restaurant in the UK. Also, the staff had to deal with a vast amount of tourists who were looking for Rick Stein's place, the toilets, surf shop etc. Some people were incredibly rude to the staff, but the staff were so good and helpful to people who weren't even dining with the Fish House. Have nothing negative to say.

We visited last year and it was incredible so decided to ring a month in advance to make sure we had a table booked (it’s always busy in the summer holidays!). We saw on the specials board that lobster was on the menu, brought in earlier that day so we both went for a 1/2 a XL lobster each. It was INCREDIBLE. Thanks again and can’t wait for our next visit! (I was too busy making my way through the lobster to take a picture so I’ve added our desert sharing board from last year instead)

This place, just wow. From the minute you open the door you feel welcome, warm inviting and the smells coming from the kitchen at the back? just.. phenomenal. Everything is spotless and food incredible. We had the home made focaccia plate, roasted seafood platter, kids spaghetti and crabmeat and aioli special. It was something to behold. Honestly, probably one of the best things I've ever eaten in a restaurant. Service good waiter polite and my little girl demolished her pasta. Two glasses of dry White House wine later.. we were all smiles and happiness. I thanked the chefs and they waved to my little girl. honestly.. great vibes from this place and we will be back, that's for certain

My husband and I visited the restaurant for an evening meal to celebrate my birthday. I'm so glad we came here! The staff were excellent, attentive but not over bearing, and the food was amazing! We had trouble choosing as it all sounded delicious and actually ended up having a sharing board with our starters because we didnt want to miss out. You must book in advance though as its extremely popular, we booked a month ahead and could only eat at 5pm. We can't wait to come back!

In Newquay it was virtually impossible to get a table anywhere for any food, so to be able to get a table at this restaurant (albeit by being very persistent with the phone at 11:00) was incredible. Unfortunately we were note able to get a table in the evening, so we had to go at 12:30. For clarity, none of the above is a criticism, purely an appreciation that they have a system whereby if you choose to sit outside once you know what the weather is likely to be, you can book the day before. They only have a small number of seats outside so you have to be quick. There were 5 of us and it was 27 degrees outside, but we had excellent protection above us so the sun was not on us. The service was brilliant from start to finish, and the food excellent. We shared a starter platter along with an extra starter, all had different meals from Monkfish and Sea Bass, to fish finger sandwich (which while on the lighter bites menu were still very substantial), and enjoyed a bottle of wine. We were there for well over 2 hours with no feeling of any pressure to vacate our table. Given the location (overlooking the sea), and the quality of the food and service, I would consider it very good value for money. If you get a chance to go to this place I would highly recommend it.

We were recommended ‘the fish house fistral’ by a family member as we were visiting Cornwall for our minimoon having married in the days before. We tried to book a few times but weren’t fortunate to find a space due to its popularity, I emailed in to ask if there was anything that could be done, I was given polite and clear advice to keep checking the online system incase of cancellations or to try for a table outside as a walk in. I’m so glad I did keep checking the online system as a spot came up at 16:30 on a Saturday !! Lucky us. We arrived and where met by two glasses of fizz and congratulations from the staff which was a loverly touch. The specials where explained along with the menu, I don’t personally eat much fish at all however thought where better to try than the top rated restaurant in the area. We ordered the fish sharing platter to start, then the hot shell sharing platter with the seafood risotto and prawn and crab linguine, yes we went all out and decided to be greedy guts !! The food was delicious so fresh and flavoursome, I’m so happy with the dishes we chose, we really did make the most of the experience. The only criticism which wouldn’t at all stop us coming back at all is that we felt quite rushed, we thought the hot shell platter would come out as it’s own course however it didn’t it came with the main meal choices meaning we struggled to eat everything hot, I can only imagine this is because of the sheer demand for the tables and the bookings already in place so in a way it’s understandable. We would have stayed longer and ordered desserts and a few more drinks if we felt we had the time to enjoy them but didn’t want to over run and cause issue for other customers or the staff. All in all honestly if you can visit please do it’s such a loverly location and restaurant and the prices are beyond reasonable for the quality of meals, other places are charging more in the area for a fraction of the standard of the fish house.

Our first dinner out of lockdown and we were not disappointed . Lucky to get a table but they managed to accommodate us outside with a table with a breathtaking view . Front of house was exceptional and food did not disappoint . Crab was fresh and delicious for starter and the hake main was cooked to perfection , wine chilled & Fairly priced . They have created little booths due to Covid which make each table private and safe without feeling clinical . great work from the fish house team !

We visited twice in May when we still had to sit outside . Both times were wonderful. The evening visit was magical, watching the sun go down and the food was superb. I always love the panko fried prawns and the fish curry was a delight . Lunchtime was wet, but the staff managed well and kept us dry with the awning and umbrellas and offered rugs to keep us warm . They kept apologising for the rain! The only thing I found was a few drips in my wine glass, but it made for a very enjoyable atmosphere. We had a quick lunch but I can’t tell you how fabulous the home made fish finger open sandwich on their lovely home made bread with their special sauce was. In addition the price of it was extremely acceptable unlike some other food served not too far away ! Can’t wait to visit again ... if only I could get a booking !!

The seafood is the best we have ever had. You have to try the Fritto Misto, the batter is so light, stunning. We’d mentioned it was our anniversary when booking and the staff had scattered sparkly stars over our table and brought us a complimentary glass of Prosecco on arrival which was very sweet of them. The view is amazing, the staff were lovely, the food is out of this world, but be warned, you need to book well in advance.

We happened upon this place quite by accident, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our weekend. The staff were very accommodating to our one year old, who ate a combination of their food and food we had brought with us. We shared some homemade bread and the crab special to start, and both were delicious!! Especially the bread, I have to say. There were so many tempting dishes on the menu but I ended up choosing the fish curry. I can’t even remember what my husband had as I just remember how nice mine was!! Ha! We had no room for a dessert, but maybe next time- as well definitely be back again.

We had a voucher from our children and were excited to visit. The starter was the best part of the meal. The main dish was over seasoned and the fish was overpowered. . It was okay. I wouldn’t rush back. Nice ambience tho. Do give it a try.

This restaurant not only has the most beautiful views across the beach and light, fresh decor, but amazing food to match. The scallop starter was amazing and the bacon was so perfectly crispy. I had the special tuna and it was amazing so well cooked and the sauce was awesome. I also think for such a prime location and very fresh fish it was reasonably priced. My partner had fish and chips for £14 and it was a big portion (he said this was really good and ate every bite). The service was friendly and efficient and we felt very welcomed. Would throughly recommend coming although you will need to book well in advance as it is very popular (please note the scallop starter had 3 although there is only 1 in my photo as I shared)
