Our first visit here and worth every penny. Definitely not expensive for the quality and quantity of meals served. Unpretentious, rustic charming restaurant and it was a joy to be served by enthusiastic FOH staff, and to be able to see the kitchen team working...seamlessly together. Beautiful fresh Cornish mussels, chowder, hake with a stunning whiskey sauce and mash, and a superbly cooked wrapped monkfish. Every mouthful was a pleasure, all cooked freshly to order and didn't want it to end. Small can be beautiful too! Thank you to the whole Fish House team!More

My daughter and I went to the Fish House for her birthday dinner. The place was pleasant enough and staff friendly and accommodating; the food however, was a disappointment and not up to the raving 5* reviews. A shared Fritto Misto at £11.95 was well...cooked, the tempura fairly light and crisp -but the accompanying chilli dipping sauce had an acrid aftertaste, which marred its flavour. Neither of us could finish our main courses: ‘Indian Fish Curry’ (£22.95) and ‘Crab and Tiger Prawn Linguine’ (£23.95) as they were too rich in oil. My linguine was entirely sodden with it: a knife under the plate drained it somewhat; a pool of it ran from the pasta but did not help the dish. The sauce was too oily and too watery at the same time and there was too much of it. There was not enough linguine, not enough prawns and no crab that I could discern, either in terms of meat or flavour. I found breadcrumbs unnecessary, with carbohydrate already present in the pasta (I believe Italians in the south of Italy do add breadcrumbs to pasta but where I lived in Tuscany I never saw any such thing and could’ve done without it here). We couldn’t manage a pudding after all the oil; my daughter did get everything boxed up to take home, nonetheless. I never wanted to see my dish again. NOT WORTH IT at these prices.More

Thank you for your review. We were so pleased you enjoyed the Frito Misto. We are a little confused as to your comments about the amount of oil used in the curry and linguine. There is no oil in the curry dish, it is a...More

I have a second home in Vietnam these days, so I'm spoilt when it comes to fresh seafood, but this restaurant is still outstanding. It is definately my favourite eating spot in Newquay. Service is wonderful, prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is great. Highly...recommend.More

Me and the wife went for lunch on our 12th wedding anniversery and from start to finish the experience was amazing. Keiran, the headchef, was fantastic and honestly the food was out of this world, honestly the best food I have ever eaten. Obvioulsy his...team, Alice, Jordan and a lad whos name i dont know (sorry) played a huge part in this. Also the front of house were incredible, Izzy and Alex, nothing was to much trouble and even when faced with an entitled, rude, arrogant customer, shout out to Izzy they held them selves to gether acting with nothing but proffesionalism.More

It was my husband and I’s 12th wedding anniversary and thought we would go for some lunch at the fish house………WOW the food was absolutely incredible thanks to Keiran (head chef) and Alice (sous chef). The staff on FOH Izzy, Alex & a young gentleman...(sorry not sure on name) were fantastic from when we arrived to when we left, even after a disgruntled customer had a go at them for no reason, Izzy & Alex both handled themselves in a very professional and polite manner…….. don’t let entitled people get you down! Will definitely be back! Thanks again to all the staff for an amazing lunch 🙂More

My partner and I came for the locals lunch deal back in November and shared the fish tacos, greens, crab sandwich and the hand cut chips. Every last mouthful was absolutely delicious. Really fantastic quality and lovely staff.

This is my second visit, the first was a few years ago. I booked a table for two for Saturday 23rd December back at the beginning of September as o knew it would get booked up as the restaurant is small and cosy. If you’re...in the vicinity, then a meal here is a must. I had the Korean Monkfish (hot & spicy) salad to start and the crab 🦀 and prawn 🦐 linguine for my main….both meals were outstanding with service to match.More

This is exactly what I wanted, a super casual spot with a nice view and amazing seafood. We ordered four starters to share between two of us for a tapas style lunch which was a great way to try lots of different foods. I think...the mussels were my favourite, and the side of focaccia bread was honestly unreal. Really recommend this little spot for lunch. Friendly staff and great food.More

We’d seen this place in the past but never visited before so it was booked for a milestone birthday dinner. Cannot rate this restaurant highly enough: from their communication over email once booked to the meal itself, everything was faultless. The venue itself is fantastic,...small, but beautifully laid out and the vibe was great. We had a table booked for 18:30 and when we got there, all bar one table was already taken. They even turned tables later on to cater for a couple of groups in for their Christmas meal. The service was 10/10. They had 2 ladies managing the tables and a third running the bar - not intrusive, but absolutely on it, from drinks to food and any requests we had. The food was simply amazing, from the starters through to the desserts, could not pick fault with anything - honestly one of the best meals I can remember. We ate from the regular menu as opposed to the Christmas one. Everyone’s food was fantastic, but the panna cotta was unreal!! We thought it was real value from money - will 100% be back,More

My son booked the table for early 60th birthday treat. We were welcomed by a lovely lady from behind the bar. We went to the table and ordered drinks/food. When the starters arrived omg. Had scallops and seafood chowder with freshly made bread. Seafood platter...arrives too die for. Excellent food service no complaints at all. And I even managed a cheeky photo with the chefs. Thankyou so much JanMore

Wow wow wow. What else can I say! Me and three friends were completely blown away. What an experience. From a very warm welcome, to ordering drinks, to being sat right near the kitchen peering in and seeing the masters of their craft at work....Incredible seafood, definitely met my expectations and much more. The staff were wonderful and so professional yet the whole experience was very relaxed. The food was stunning and delicious. I can’t say enough favourable things about this restaurant and already booked up to come back againMore
