Stopped here on Sunday 15 June (as the motorcade passed by). Quite a long queue but no problem with that. The main problem was that the menu was only visible inside the cafe, behind the guy who managed the till. So my friend and I queued for 15 minutes or so whilst my wife and one other waited at a table outside. We asked what the other two wanted but as they had no idea what was available this was not a question they could answer. I entered the cafe as it came close to my turn to purchase. My wife took a couple of steps inside to try and peer in to see a menu only for the guy behind the till to shout "only two at a time in the cafe!". His tone was over the top and rather offensive. We are in difficult times but one can still say please or add a smile. Who are the brains behind this cafe? Have you not considered having a menu on a board outside so people can decide what to order before entering, whilst standing in a queue in the heat of the day? When my friend and I got to the till we had to look over the head of the person taking the money to read the fairly comprehensive menu. At the same time, the guy was saying "yes, what do you want?". He never once smiled. We felt he just wanted to move us along swiftly and just get our money. Very hard to order for four people in this way, under pressure to read the menu very quickly. The bill for two pasties, two rolls and four soft drinks was £33. Unless he was just having a bad day that guy taking the money should not be in a customer-facing role - especially in a place charging a premium price.

I am at a loss to understand the few poor reviews as we have always had great food and terrific service since Sacha and Spencer took over a few years ago. We haven’t been for a couple of years but Spencer recommend gnoses is and even remembered what we do for a living - the sign of a genuine people-person. My crab baguette was brimming with fresh crab meat and my wife said the cream tea was still the best she has ever had (and she’s a bit of an expert!). The service was friendly, fast and attentive, and the whole visit was extremely good value for money, as always. We’ll be back in a few days. Seamus and Clare

We went for a magnificent and very energetic walk from Porthcurno towards Lands End and back across country. We started our day with coffees and cakes here and returned for a late lunch. What a fantastic spot this is. The hosts are so friendly and the service was lovely. We are in COVID restricted times, but life just felt so normal, sitting in the sunshine. They offered dog ice cream for our very tired boxer dog. Much appreciated. We had super fresh crab salads with local crab, amazing Cornish ice creams and great coffee. The pasties are unbelievable. The host recommended a Sicilian Pinot Grigio which was tremendous. Would return here in a heartbeat.

After decades of staying at Porthcurno, we were super excited to visit one of our go to cafes. Unfortunately, under new management, it was a real let down. Overpriced, poor quality and rude customer service. We had got engaged on Porthcurno beach so luckily it wasn’t enough to ruin our mood but you need to think how far a little smile goes especially with everything going on at the moment. The 18.50£ for a sandwich, 2 teas and a can of Pepsi Appreciate you’ve had a tough busy summer but most of Britain have had their challenges too. Hope to see improvements next time we visit. All the best Sam

Visited here with my partner, their website states they have sit-in and takeaway available- they need to update this as they're only offering a VERY limited takeaway service, literally a handful of baguettes, panini's or ice cream (4 flavours). They're website states they have gluten free options, there are absolutely none and when asked if they had GF bread I was given a blunt no. My partner's ham baguette was fine, but they had thrown in some cucumber which not advertised. The café is only accepting card. All in all, a real let down and for £6.70 for a baguette & crisps really not worth it, we'd have bought a drink but none were cold! To the café staff, we know you're busy and it's probably been a real tough summer. But seriously, being polite to your customers is the least we'd expect.

Visited today, beautiful beach you HAVE to visit. Please take all your own food and drink and not give this rude man your money. Rude to all women more so but rude in general and as is the only place for food and drink can treat customers however he feels knowing he will still take your money. No customer service skills at all. Prices extortionate, also owns the ice cream kiosk in the carpark. Unable to smile, literally feel like he is taking the money and sitting in the evening laughing at us all. Will only take an order from a male, he can not hear a womens voice…or chooses not to!

A lovely little cafe close to the Minack Theatre, well worth a stop. We had the most amazing crab sandwiches, absolutely bursting with crab fresh of the boat that morning. The owner and waitresses were delightful, the owner especially full of interesting stories. An absolute must if in the area.

Stopped here after a visit to The Minack Theatre and what a disappointment, ordered what was described as a vegetable flatbread and a steak pastry, both extremely overpriced but the flatbread could only be described as a cheap pizza you would buy from a leading supermarket and heat up, after taking two bites I decided to speak to staff who were extremely rude and condescending saying I could buy something else and surely I didn’t expect a refund! When we tried to have another word the waitress agreed it wasn’t as described but insisted it was a flatbread and that I had eaten half of it, which was not the case. The manager said she was busy and refused to speak to us. Its hardly a beach cafe either, you can’t even see the beach it’s right on the road with no view at all, take a picnic or just walk by if you don’t want to be ripped off !

We have visited Porthcurno several times and always enjoy lunch or cream tea at the cafe. The coffee is the best and the food is always fresh and the people are friendly. We had the pleasure of staying in Porthcurno for a whole wonderful week and enjoyed several visits to the lovely cafe. Absolutely love visiting Porthcurno but it is so very hard to leave.

We stayed just a few minutes walk away from the cafe, so it was an ideal spot to visit for coffee and snacks. It’s positioned at the bottom of the hill opposite the turn off to walk down to the beach. Staff are friendly and while the menu was limited the food was very nice. We have tried the cream tea, Cornish pasty, baguette and also ice creams from the ice cream bar. The outdoor seating area is lovely and a great spot to sit and unwind. There also beach supplies inside. A really nice little cafe that I’d fully recommend stopping for brunch or refreshments. Beers, wine, cider are also served and I’d recommend the Muscle pot white wine for those who enjoy a nice cold Sauvignon.

We visited here today after a very wet walk. In hope of a warm drink and tasty Cornish pasty. Cost just over £17 for 2x teas and 2x homemade steak Cornish pasties. Lovely cup of Yorkshire tea, unfortunately the pasties contained hardly any meat, mostly onions and rubbery pastry. After a couple of bites I didn't eat mine, my husband ate both, only out of hunger. Certainly wouldn't return.

We visited here on the off chance as the sea was too rough to go in. I’m so glad we did. It seems to be the norm here in Cornwall as the hospitality at all the places I have visited has been exceptional, and the beach cafe was no exception. The menu provided ample options. We went for the pulled pork and pineapple flatbread. It was very nice, with a hint of spice and a side salad. The price, £8.50, is very reasonable. The cafe is very clean with outdoor seating with a parasol to keep you out of the sun or dry. It does rain in Cornwall too! All in all a very good find. Congratulations to all the staff who made our short stay very welcoming

Even better than before! (If that’s possible!) The coffee is always superb; in fact it’s my favourite coffee in Cornwall. So far this week I’ve had a tuna baguette, a sausage roll, and a crab baguette. The tuna baguette and sausage roll were both delicious but my favourite was the crab baguette: it was superb. Very very generous amount of extremely fresh crab meat and a generous wedge of lemon to finish it off. (It was so delicious I couldn’t wait until lunchtime so I scoffed it for elevenses!) The service is always very friendly and even more efficient than before. Still my favourite cafe (it’s more than a cafe) in Cornwall.
