About
Set on two floors and in an idyllic palm tree and twinkly light filled courtyard, the Bakehouse has been a part of the local community for the past 15 years. New owners Kim Letchford and Gary Francis took over on the 14th February 2017. Kim started working here over 8 years ago, when she did her work experience for school. She went on to study catering at the local college for 3 years and worked at the Bakehouse for most of that time as a chef, taking time out to work abroad. Gary for the past 6 years has been the sous chef at The very well known gastro pub The Victoria Inn, in Perranuthnoe. They are both very enthusiastic and innovative creating new and exciting dishes for their guests. They

Husband and I went for dinner and we loved it. The food was delicious, and the portion sizes just right; the menu options were interesting and creative (especially the dessert menu!) Staff were friendly and attentive and service was speedy. The atmosphere was just right...- comfortable, relaxed, not too quiet or too noisy. They also have a few outside tables in a lovely little courtyard area; it was a bit too cold when we went, but would be lovely to sit out there on a warm summer evening. I'm sure we'll be back next time we're in the area! :)More

Inventive menu and incredible value for money. We had a lovely meal here and it’s unusual a place where you genuinely feel the food is booked to order.by knowledgeable professionals. I don’t know how they do it at these prices.

We really enjoyed our meals here. The food, service and wine were all first class. The guys in the kitchen can cook a bit! Have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

These days it is hard to find special places where you feel as if it is money well spent but we all enjoyed our choices and all admired the hard work of mainly one guy looking after so many tables.

The Bakehouse not only serves yummy food, but has the best customer care. It’s one of the few accessible restaurants in Penzance and they go above and beyond to meet access and dietary requirements. Love this place❤️

Fabulous meal, great staff, what more could I ask for. I had the squid starter followed by hake and mussel risotto. Delicious though my meal was , I had serious food envy of husband’s monkfish curry. So much so that even though we are only...in Cornwall for a few nights we will have to go back! Went mad with a Cornish pina colada, which was excellent and great fun, although the kiwi Sauvignon blanc was fab. This place is a must-go on any visit to Penzance.More

Monkfish curry was simply outstanding! Service from Connor was impeccable. Considering how quiet it was, his attentiveness was spot on. We also had amazing Espresso Martini’s! Only note would be to lower the lights in the evening for correct ambience with maybe a candle on...the tables?More

Second visit this eve- solo diner looking for excellent food ( found again, the truffle butter) and a welcoming place to eat without more than a waiters polite interruption (found again, best table!) Food: truffle butter served with mushroom bread, I ate the butter from...the spoon when the waitress wasn’t looking (I hope!). Fillet steak rare and rested to perfection, with peppercorn sauce basically made of cream (in the best way possible). Cherry on top, m mmmm a Caesar salad side as std… the chips also great but too much for me.. my one tip to bakehouse would be make them a side and charge as they are worth it. My tip for bakehouse customers is have a cheeky affogato! Ambience: not busy but it’s Thursday in February. Some couples/friend groups to people watch! It was empty by the time I had my desert but the waitress didn’t rush me at all. Top marks for front of house team - any single diners are on looking for a place to eat well in Pz take note of the table by the window/radiator… and the truffle butter. Key messages: truffle butter, single diners win!More

Not sure - we didn't saw dogs at all when we visited the restaurant. But be advised: the meal is fantastic! Booking table in advance is highly recommended in high season!
