Excellant meal, one of the best we have had for quite some time. The menu choice was great with locally sourced produce cooked to perfection, we ate crab, duck and beautiful pork. The service was exceptional despite it being at the end of a very...busy weekend. We enjoyed our wine choice very much also, a Malbec. And all this at a reasonable price. Thank you we will be backMore

The atmosphere was intimate but elegant, and the restaurant modern. The food was excellent, and the staff were professional and courteous. A really great find!

We were a party of eight and the staff dealt with us very efficiently. We'd pre-ordered and everything came at the right time and was really well executed and presented. Friendly, helpful service even to the extent of concocting a special dessert when I wanted...to mix and match some of the choices, so thank you for that! Will definitely visit again when in Pz. Great atmosphere, highly recommended.More

Came here for dinner one night after booking in advance. The food was very nice, but the waitress didn’t know what was going on. There was no menus to tell us what the desserts were, she recited them out to us and messed them up...and in the end I was put off and didn’t have a dessert. It was very strange as the restaurant was empty yet they was turning away passing trade due to bookings, my point is I’m not sure if they are maximising their booking system to accommodate the maximum amount of people. As I say the food was very nice and I would returnMore

What a wonderful find! We’d stumbled across Black’s when looking for somewhere for lunch a couple of weeks ago. Had such a lovely meal we asked friends to join us and try dinner there last night. We pre-booked asking for a wheelchair accessible table and...were touched to find a small ramp outside ready for our arrival to ease the passage up the one step into the restaurant. There was a lovely open fire providing a cosy feel on a January night. The menu is reassuringly limited so you know you are getting freshly cooked food from someone that cares. I tried something I thought I wouldn’t like for starters (figs), and was amazed at how beautifully the different flavours and textures on the plate married together. Thank you for opening my eyes! All 5 of us loved all 3 courses - quite an achievement - we will definitely return.More

We had a lovely evening with freinds at Blacks. The food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. It is well located in the centre of town. Great fresh fish and the the portions were very generous. Well worth a vists.

We were staying in Penzance for an Autumn break and needed somewhere close to our hotel to eat as the weather was dreadful. Our hosts had mentioned that they had eaten at Blacks the night before and the fish was excellent. Its always great to...visit Chapel Street which is full of a most wonderful selection of period houses. We were the only people eating at 18:30, but the owner and her very pleasant young staff were waiting for a party of travellers to come in off The Sicillian. It was very pleasant to talk to the owner and to hear that after such a torrid time last year, things were looking much more positive. The food was excellent and good value.More

Visited the other night with my husband. We just had the main course. My husbands steak was cooked to perfection and I had the hake pasta dish. The hake was not over cooked and delicious. My husband had the cherry and chocolate dessert which was...yummy.. Good choice of wines at excellent prices. Cosy atmosphere with friendly and efficient staff. I would highly recommend this independent restaurantMore

Had a delicious dinner at Blacks on Chapel Street, Penzance last Sunday, and the chicken and the chocolate vanilla cremeaux were just gorgeous. The only downside was that a woman (manager?) started cleaning the tables, blowing out candles etc as we were still eating our...main course. She basically cleaned up most of the restaurant whilst we and others were still dining! Who wants to smell cleaning fluid when you are eating?! That said, I would stress that the two young girls serving and looking after everyone were lovely, and as we say, the food was so delicious and the wines reasonably priced. Such a shame it was badly let down by one person. Oh and the floor in the ladies looked like it hadn't been cleaned all week, it was sticky!More
