Billed as fine dining but wasn't really. Service was fairly inattentive and food average - eg my plaice was very overcooked in a bland sauce. There are better places in St Ives to be frank

Billed as fine dining and one of top ten restaurants in Cornwall - fell well short on both. Service was fairly disinterested, food was bland, lacking in any sort of creativity, and not very well cooked (my Plaice was overcooked). A number of much better...More

Very disappointed with this restaurant! We booked a table to celebrate my 50th birthday and end up being a big mistake! Upon arrival we were greeted by a moody waitress that barely engaged in conversation we asked for a table near the window and were...More

Staff didn’t seem to care much about serving customers and food was overpriced for the size and quality of what arrives on your plate. And they try and sell you extra ‘sides’!!! Why not just produce a complete presentation rather than trying to extract even...More

Well presented food, ok service and a decent wine list. Really nice to see a Childrens' menu in a high-end restaurant. Service was slightly hesitant, and didn't really look very confident about describing any of the menu (new staff member maybe), but the cooking was...More

Was recommended to eat here by my family. You need to book in advance but it’s well worth it. The food, wine and service were all first class in a wonderful setting overlooking the harbour. All added up to the best meal out we’ve ever...More

We have been going to Alba for many years and really looked forward to going again. Our starters were superb but I don't know whether the chef went home early but our main courses were very disappointing. My husband had pork - the crackling was...More

We enjoy dining a deux at Alba, the food is delicious & lovingly presented, my hake with green veg was awesome & I also enjoyed the strawberry dessert. We didn't have a table-window, we suspect you need to book far in advance for those, but...More

Having spent 50 years travelling the world in great comfort, if I could choose the restaurant where I would be served my last meal on earth, I would choose the Alba, in St Ives, Cornwall. It is spectacular.
