Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Been before and will come again, it’s our favourite people watching spot! Come through the day for coffee and cake or in the evening for cocktails or the gin flight, got to sample different gins with mixers and aromatics, the espresso martini was delicious! They are now starting to do food again but hubby missed the oysters as they aren’t on menu at present. Staff are lovely and get you a table quickly, there are outdoor heaters if it’s a bit chilly. You can’t book tables you queue until one is available. Fab place with stunning view to watch the world go by.

On our recent fantastic trip to St.Ives we were drawn to take a seat for a few drinks at the "Beach Cafe Bar" as it was busy (always a good sign) and people were smiling!!! We waited at the designated area to be seated which was fine and the front of service area lady (who was a marvel at her job) sat us down after firstly spraying the table making it a germ free place to enjoy either drinks or cakes or both. (Before 1pm they serve breakfast etc, after 1pm just drinks & cakes) We felt incredibly comfortable and the girls were all great at their respective roles enjoying a quick chat when they were able to. In the week we were in St.Ives we made four visits each time enjoying what was on offer and taking in our favourite past time- people watching!! On our last day we had to vacate our accommodation by 9am, so we drove to St.Erth & caught the train back to St.Ives and went straight to Beach Cafe Bar for a great Breakfast which I felt was the best we had all week. I had the "Big One" which was a bagel cut in half and filled with sausages bacon and eggs. My wife had a delicious waffle with yoghurt honey & fruit which she confirmed was amazing. we plan to re-visit on 20th December to see the Crimbo lights and will definitely go back to this great venue. Thanks to all staff, Cerys & Paul from Cardiff xx

We visited here in May and again this week in September. The service, food, view and staff are great. In the town itself you only have to look around at eateries to see that an awful lot are short of staff. Baring this in mind, I'm sure patience from us the paying public would be appreciated. By the time our holiday comes to an end we'll probably have popped in four times. This speaks for itself. The Beach Cafe Bar are doing a cracking job in these not so normal times.

Lovely place to put your feet up and enjoy an afternoon glass of wine or beer but don’t take the kids! Spent £20+ on a few of drinks and nibbles but nothing much on offer for the little ones. Our toddler had some Olives (luckily he loves them) but as there was little else we bought small tub of ice cream from along the road to keep him happy. We’d expected some common sense from the establishment particularly as we’d had established the limited options with them for a 3 year old. Yes we should have asked about giving him a small ice cream but perhaps they could stick a couple of tubs in the freezer or just put a sign up kids not welcome. As for the waitress, I’m sure she’ll say she was doing her job but a more rude waitress I have yet to meet!

They ran out of bagels so had toast instead which would of been fine. They took over 20 minutes to bring out three toasties. They must of been running low on other things as well as I had the salmon and cream cheese toastie and it came out with hardly any cream cheese, toast was very dry. To top it all off, it came to almost £30.00 for three toasties and some drinks! The couple next to us weren't even told they had ran out of food until they were sat down waiting for 15 minutes. Poor food and service that day, price was shocking. There are plenty of other wonderful places along the sea front to enjoy instead and they won't charge you costly amounts for toast. I was really looking forward to it as it is a prime location but it is a waste.

We have visited this restaurant many times before but we were very disappointed with the change in menu and staff ! they had run out of bagels and brown bread so my scrambled eggs were 'presented' in a cheap toasted white bread sandwich. it was over cooked and very dry and i could not eat it. We waited for around 30 minutes for our sandwiches which were also overpriced. when i complained the head waitresses response was to become very aggressive. she did not attempt an apology but became very loud and overbearing. this has been our favourite place to eat in St Ives for several years but unfortunately we will not be returning. there are many better places to visit for food and drinks . Unfortunately the photographs shown here are from their previous menu !

Brilliant position on the seafront. Tables inside and out. Decor inside is qiite quirky but it actually works. Food is actually very good, when it eventually arrives. The main waitress is certainly one on her own. She keeps telling you how busy she is and she will take your order 'shortly' or you are 'next in line'. Be so much easier just to take the order and move on. You get a running commentary of events, whci certainly isnt needed. Took us an hour to get toast and coffee and despite her claims they were very busy, they weren't.

This place is in a perfect spot for looking out to sea, people watching and admiring the views. The coffee isn’t nothing special.we asked 4 times the same waitress for white sugar ,she said she couldnt hear us (she was to busy looking around at other things !) Tables were outside and people were going to them, including us but was stopped as they weren’t in use...so these should of not been put out if people were not allowed to use some of the outside seating. . It was not relaxing at all...SOME staff were busy cleaning ,serving others not really bothered ... In fact we didn’t finish our drinks we paid and got up and left! There Seemed a faulse feeling about the place.

The waitress was the happiest person in St Ives and really made us feel welcome. The build a bagel concept is great and really make for a great breakfast on our way into the main town. Definitely worth a visit!

Initially we really liked this place and the girl serving. However, we had a crepe that was like leather and was inedible. When we told the waitress, she said because some had been eaten they would only take the Diet Coke we had off the bill and not the crepe. Not good customer service, the crepe had to be tasted in order to realise it was no good! Sadly won’t be returning. Come on guys we’re locals, not good enough.

Came here just for a drink to pass the time in the daytime for a coffee and a bit of cake, ended up coming back in the evening. Didn’t have food (besides some millionaire’s shortbread, which was yummy) but the cocktails good and the drinks reasonably priced. The big seller was the service - everyone was great but Chloe was particularly fantastic, got you seated as quickly as possible and even in a really busy environment always took the time to check in on you or make a joke as she was whizzing past. Glad we found this place before we left!

We visited St Ives this week while on holiday with our little dog. We were looking for somewhere to sit down for a something to eat and drink. As we went to sit down at a table outside of the restraurant we were approached by a member of staff, a young woman. She asked us if we wanted a drink or eat, we replied that we would like something to eat, she then told us to check the menu before sitting down to make sure there was something we liked!!! We were put off by this 'welcome' and walked away! Customer service definately lacking here!

Been here many many times over the years and had nothing but good things to say about it also recommended it to friends and family. We went tonight on the first night of our holiday for a few drinks, we sat at a vacant table outside which clearly had something spilt on it, had to ask for it to be cleaned as it clearly hadn't been disinfected between us and previous occupants....really not my main gripe.I ordered a pint and a traditional mohito through the tall male blond waiter. The pint was fine but after initial drink of the mohito my wife said it was sour and not right. She stirred it tried again just in case it hadn't mixed properly and it was still sour, I had a taste and it was indeed sour and not like any mohito I've ever had. I politely told the same waiter who served us and he took it back to the bar.I was expecting it to be remade/replaced.No apparently not he brought it back said the girl behind the bar had tasted it and added something (so it clearly wasn't right)and she told him it should be alright now. No it wasn't it was just as bad...what then irked me further was the fact he never even came back to check if it was now OK despite walking past our table a couple of times, which had he been bothered to ask he woukd have found out it wasn't. I am not impressed with someone tasting other people's drinks in this climate and the customer service on this occasion was lousy to say the least. I have worked in customer front facing roles all my life and I'm afraid this whole experience was rubbish. Simply the drink should have been remade, as by the barmaids own actions it clearly wasn't right in the first place. Needless to say we left the mohito on the table and went elsewhere. Won't be returning which is a shame we both really liked this bar.

We were after a cream tea with a sea view so chose here. We asked about gf but they had sold the last cake apparently. A customer recommended the cream tea so we decided to stay. Unfortunately the scone was not a homemade scone, more likely a scone mix, not a typical cornish cream scone. The coffee we had was both small and lukewarm at best sadly. We would not recommend and would go to the Pedn Olva Hotel next time. We even got charged a service fee, without the option to decline that.

Popped in on our first night for a few drinks and returned every night. A comprehensive drinks menu and knowledgeable staff clearly have this place marked out as something special. With covid restrictions there is a wait at times but often short as the staff are able to accommodate quickly. Social distancing is maintained and it provides an excellent ambience to the backdrop of St Ives Harbour. The wine and gin flights are exceptional and well done and provide excellent value for money.
