Drinks were fine, staff were friendly, live music was good. What else could you want on a wet Friday night in Dartmouth?

Settled into a cosy corner in the Dolphin on Friday night and had a great meal. The only downside was the drafts coming from the doors which made it a bit chilly.

Not cheap but well worth finding, we had a shock at the prices of both the food and drink compared to prices in Torquay but then you are in Dartmouth one of the most beautiful river estuaries. A good snack menu and good service

Really lovely food, fabulously cooked. Pub packed full of character. Dogs allowed, but sadly nowhere with any real view mostly. Still, after wandering round town all day this wasn't much of a hardship, so definitely one not to miss.

The Dolphin is like most of the other pubs in Dartmouth, unkept, unloved and pretty grotty. Just walk into the loos if you need convincing - the standards here are always indicative of the quality of the establishment - and like most other pubs in Dartmouth the standards are lacking. Our family of 3 stopped for lunch on a sunny... More

Wednesday lunchtime visit. Looks interesting from the outside and even better inside with a big sailing theme going on. Friendly, efficient staff. We had a crab sandwich meal (shared) for £9 and it was lovely (photo attached). The beer was good - I had Otter Ale. Stayed longer than anticipated as it's so nice in the pub. Some locals and... Still serving lunch at 2.15 pm which we were happy about. There's a reasonable selection of beers and a nice scrumpy (Rosie Pig??). The food service was quick. Between three of us we had 2 burgers and one fish and chips. The portions are large and the quality is ok but nothing great. The pub has a lot of character... More

THE DOLPHIN Inn is quickly emerging as the place to be !. Situated on Market Street, Dartmouth, the new Dolphin has an increased light, airy and welcoming interior, following a detailed and carefully planned renovation.
Open from 11am to 11pm, Monday to Sunday, the business remains family-run with The warmest of welcomes for locals and tourists alike.
Brother-in-laws John Jones and Glenn Powell have taken great lengths to ensure that the Inn has retained the classic features of a seaside pub, but one that is laid back and chilled in the services it offer to fit a wide-range of tastes. Sections of plush leather seating add a new sophisticated look to parts of this treasured and lovingly restored pub. With Manager John Pope – aka Geoffrey Boycott – using his great persuasive skills local boatbuilders and salvage masters have donated time and pieces in an attempt to bring some real local history to the pub – big thanks to all .
As part of their ongoing push for higher standards, the pub owners have brought in a range of drinks, coinciding with the launch of a their very own brewed beer called Whaler Ale, brewed at their brewery – Bridgetown Brewery – situated on the river in the sister pub the Albert inn in Totnes.
