10/10 for the all day breakfast. Probably the best English breakfast I have ever tasted. They welcomed us with our two dogs, service was great too.

On holiday, spotted this place and it was just what I needed, a cool, bustling place, friendly staff and great food. We all loved it, couldn't fault it. The club sandwich was huge, kids food great.
Having come here for many years it’s disappointing to see that Alf’s has slipped under new ownership and sad to see that it’s losing it’s ‘je ne sais quoi’. Excessive price rises, losing its rustic feel with shiny ‘new’ tables, and a complete change of...staff (although still friendly) hasn’t helped.More
I have to echo another reviewer in that standards have dropped at Alfs. I too have been frequenting Alfrescos for years and have always enthused as to what a wonderful place it is for breakfast but the last few times has left me unenthusiastic! I...went recently with friends and had to wait about 10 minutes to get a table - not too bad I thought! Then it was another 10 minutes queuing to order then about 45 minutes before the food arrived - hmmm! I went to the gents - loo paper on the floor a wet loo seat -yuk didn’t inspect too closely but made a hasty retreat ! The staff were somewhat glum and not very helpful -and to cap it all it was pretty expensive ! SO come on Alfresco what’s going on , where are the lovely smiley and helpful young staff - you seem to have lost your va va vroom !! You have certainly lost my custom and that of several other friends who echo my sentiments . Shame !More
Had many visits over the years & this lovely place hasn’t changed one but & still delivers on food & service Just delightful with a fabulous breakfast, cooked to perfection & served by wonderful staff Love cafe Alfresco SO MUCH ❤️
Fantastic little spot! Tried a tumeric latte here and loved it. Dan really looked after us :) can't wait to go back!
It is a shame to experience the noticeable decline of standards at the beloved breakfast/lunch cafe colloquially known as ‘Alfs.' Over the course of many years, I have been a loyal patron, consistently relishing both the service and the quality of the food. However, this...year, my visit left me taken aback due to a significant drop in service levels and the attitude of the staff. Despite being second in line, I found myself waiting for an excessive 15 minutes just to place my order. The delay was primarily attributed to the fact that the staff member responsible for taking orders was also tasked with crafting smoothies. The customer ahead of me ordered four smoothies, a task that consumed an undue amount of time. When I finally had the chance to voice my concern about this to the same staff member, I was met with a rather impolite and indifferent response. She asserted that it was standard procedure for the order-taker to prepare smoothies, dismissing my observation to the contrary. I couldn't help but find this response somewhat amusing, considering that I had been frequenting 'Alfs' since long before she likely even entered school. This entire encounter left me feeling deeply unsatisfied. To compound the issue, as I attempted to voice my concern, the queue behind me had grown to approximately seven patrons, all growing increasingly impatient. This incident has left me pondering whether it's time to explore alternative dining options next year, as my experience at 'Alfs' no longer aligns with the high standards I have come to expect. I hope my feedback serves as constructive criticism, as it is my sincere hope that 'Alfs' can regain its reputation for excellence in both service and cuisine that has drawn customers like me for many years.More
We waited until after the regatta week when it was more quiet to give this place a go. It was a lot quieter the following week, but it was not worth the wait. Staff as mentioned on many other reviews don’t seem to have a...clue what’s going on. The food we ordered was burnt, not just one item but every item. Turning the food over it was just as burnt on the other side if not worse. We have camped in fields with hardly any equipment and had scouts cook better meals than this on their first attempt. How do you burn tomatoes! How do you burn eggs? We realised from the menu that the breakfast had no beans, or mushrooms or any other items. But to pay the price they asked, for four burnt items is not a breakfast. The cutlery was dirty so we went to get more, which was also dirty. We gave up trying to find anything clean. We understand that the cafe used to have a cool image, but it is certainly not a great experience.More
Beautifully curated space with a touch of magic. Smoked Salmon and scrambled eggs with chilled Prosecco on this rainy day in Dartmouth was an absolute joy. With professional and friendly staff in this busy cafe that attended to all our needs throughout the breakfast. Spot...on! All we could wish for is Mr Alf comes to London one day!!!!!More
I recently came for regatta with some friends and we popped in to have a coffee(which was really nice) We were served by Abbi who was extremely helpful and polite and made great coffee. All in all it was a pleasant experience. I will be...backMore
Popped in early morning for a takeaway. Lovely company from Jack, Tyler and Emilie. The food was amazing I would definitely recommend café alfresco’s to anyone down on hoilday or come over for the day ps Ryan
Oliver was fantastic. Coffee really helped us get started today. Great place for a morning breakfast with locals. A most for an early morning in Dartmouth.
Fully appreciate that Regatta weekend is busy and we had to queue outside for a long time. Fully appreciate that it’s not a ‘fast food’ place. However, after waiting a considerable amount of time for 3 meals, to have them come out in instalments is...not acceptable! First one came, then about 10 minutes later a second appeared. After those two meals were finished, finally 20 minutes later the third arrived! Unacceptably poor disjointed service which spoilt the lunch. It’s not difficult to produce a table of food for 3 people and serve it at the same time! So NO, wouldn’t return againMore
Awful service we stood where it said please queue it was only us a girl serving takeaway drinks said nothing to us on and on two occasions staff members came out to her still no one acknowledged us we could see seats available in side...we waited 10 minutes and thought let’s go they obviously don’t want our custom so went to sloping decks lovely lady greeted us and we had a lovely breakfast will never return to alfrescoMore
We walked into Dartmouth via the coast path from Stoke Fleming looking for somewhere to eat and happened upon Alf Rescos. What an amazing place! The atmosphere was great, the menu extensive, the service was quick and the food was really tasty. We had smoked...salmon and avocado on toast which was the best I’ve ever had plus a granola bowl. The smoothies were also very good. Would definitely return next time we’re in Dartmouth.More
