Staying at Gissons hotel, last minute booking for a work trip. Checked in and decided to try the restaurant for our evening meal. food here really lovely, The hotel really plush and laid out beautiful. The head guy was from Venice, so real Italian and so chatty and we had good time talking to him. well worth a visit , pizza gorgeous and full of toppings.
Very welcoming and attentive service, lovely environment and a very relaxing evening. Food was good, but the plates are SO BIG. Even the dessert was big enough for at least 2! The pastas especially were way too big. A nice evening nonetheless.
Beautiful food, great service, highly recommended. We were a family of 4 and had a 3 course meal. Every meal was stunning! Recommend the ribs, pizza, pasta arrabiatta and the fried pizza dessert! Such a shame it was so quiet on a Saturday night.
We were staying locally in our caravan and rang an order for two ribs and fries. They were ready at the time booked, well packaged and with a side order of coleslaw. The staff member who served us was friendly and personable and although the...restaurant was quiet at that time it looked comfortable, very stylish and we would love to return to dine in. Everything was delicious, good quality ribs, well sauced and at a very acceptable cost. First class - wish them continued success. (Slight downside - if I read the signs correctly, there's a charge of £4 to use the carpark. Perhaps Grappas could clarify?)More
Been there with friends, and i can honestly confirm it’s the best Italian food in Exeter area. Perfectly cooked steak, delicious pizza, the burgers are great, and the staff is wonderful. Would highly recommend if you’re tired of the “franchise” taste you usually find in...restaurants around town. The food is “precisely engendered” by a team of Italian chefs and that said everything. 😅😁More
It is fantastic news that the restaurant in Gissons is open again especially as it is now an Italian restaurant. Two of us had lunch here today - both the salmon and the ribeye steak were fabulous. The service was first rate too. Covid safe...restrictions in place. Highly recommended.More

After being told by my workers wHo were staying next door in the Exeter cross hotel the food portions weren’t great in their hotel we scooted next door to grappa at Gissons. We booked and on entering we had our temperature take and signed in...to the nhs app. All staff were wearing correct ppe. To the table drinks were quick to come and menu was wholesome Italian food with a few twists and turns. We tried the nduja pizza, calamari, brochetta and minestrone soup and every item was excellent. Good fresh ingredients and plenty of food. Staff are friendly, polite and professional and I would not hesitate to eat here again.More
Had the most amazing meal last night to celebrate our daughter's birthday. Great menu choice for all (including options for the fussy eaters out there!), fabulous tasting food at reasonable prices, decent portions too. The best lasagne I have ever tasted - and I've tried...quite a few over the years! If you like your seafood the dishes looked amazing; you could almost be in the Mediterranean (just don't look out the window at the storm brewing!). Covid friendly with all safety measures in place, plenty of room so spread out, but still has a friendly bubbly atmosphere. Living locally we have seen the Gissons have many ups and downs over the years; I feel its all about to change for the better! It will be really great to see this place succeed; its certainly off to a good start!More

After seeing this restaurant change over many years it has now reopened as a Italian restaurant. Decided to try to celebrate our good friend Daz’s birthday. The menu had good amount of choice and the front of house service was very attentive and professional. Our...starters were presented lovely and everyone agreed they were full of flavour. Service was very swift and the main courses as the starters was beautiful and taste as good as they looked. The interior looks very nice and has been laid out Covid friendly. Well worth a try.More
