Called in here one Sunday evening in December. The restaurant had closed 15 minutes earlier however the staff were very helpful and offered everything other than the carvery. The food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The ambiance was traditional for a country inn though a spruce up wouldn't be amiss. We liked the little coves/booths etc. gave... More

We called at the Swan's Nest having taken the ferry from Topsham and walked there in the pouring rain via Powderham. Don't ask! 😛 We ended up walking on an horrendous main road due to lack of signage and found ourselves stranded with no ferry or trains back to Topsham. Then came Declan to the rescue!!! We had asked at... More

We booked for lunch last week, thought better make a booking as they are always busy. I think we must have gone on a bad day compared to the other reviews, it seemed we had the leftovers from Sunday. The place was lovely and festive, and that is the best I can say. The place was virtually empty, ordered some... More

Stopped in here on our way to Exeter for a Carvery, were shown to our table, but I asked if we could change as my disabled Mum would have had trouble getting in bench, not a problem, moved us right away. Had a lovely carvery with lot's of choice. But then came the Sweet, oh my days, have never seen... More

Went for a Sunday lunchtime meal and all three of us had carvery. The staff and pub itself are good, the selection of meats and vegetables are great, the only downside is that the food was on the cold side. Maybe the plates could be hotter or the overhead heater more intense. I know Brussels are traditional at Christmas but... More

Surprised to find a practically empty pub on a Saturday night. Expected it to be heaving. However, despite there being only about six tables occupied our main course took 1 hour and 15 mins to come, and only then after I went to the bar to chase them up. In saying that, the manager gave us free puddings as an... More

Have not been to the Swans Nest for 10 years, so read the reviews first and thought "oh dear, maybe not"? However am glad I decided to go anyway, for a trip down memory lane. We visited mid day on a Saturday for lunch, we all decided to have the carvery, just under a tenner each, you get a choice... More

Staff were rude, food had clearly been under the hot lights for sometime, Infact the staff made no secret of it. Won't be going back.
