We booked for several evening's Dinner in advance of our stay in Lynton, just as well as they were working at Covid reduced capacity and were fully booked each evening when we arrived. The Inn is conveniently positioned a short downhill walk from Lynton's main shopping street. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the Restaurant was comfortable, bright & lively. The Service was attentive and we were given some good advice on menu choices, with a few jokes thrown in. The Menu offers straightforward Pub Food with the addition of a few Daily Specials. The portion size is generous and the meals arrive nice and hot. Create your own Pizzas are available in 9 and 12 inch sizes and are very tasty, with a good range of toppings on offer. The 12 inch defeats all but the most hungry customers and a take-home box is available if you ask. The Tribute Ale was well kept, also available was an Exmoor Bitter and a Guest Ale. Masks must be worn unless you are sat at your table and there is a one way system for entering and leaving.

I used this hotel/pub on 3 consecutive evenings for a main meal whilst I was staying at a nearby B&B. I found the staff to be most obliging on all occasions, their table service was most customer-friendly and, very importantly, the food was delicious and plentiful. Good compliance with Covid 19 regulations.

We always come to Lynton for our anniversary and this year we booked a table for lunch at the Crown Hotel. The waiting staff were superb and the food simply superb. A simple menu but when our food arrived we were simply stunned. Presentation, quantity, quality, all simply superb. An amazing three course lunch for the two of us for £45 left us very full and very happy. Highly recommended.

prior to arriving for our meal at the crown, the tone of the evening was immediately set by some racist patrons blatantly staring at us as we walked past. the service was average with nothing particularly wrong with the service provided, but it would have been helpful to know that all of the dishes we ordered came with a side salad before ordering one separately especially having asked the waiter about it. the food was quite possibly the worst food we have ever encountered in an establishment that claims to offer “honest home-cooked” food. the pizza tasted like a supermarket “value range” frozen pizza; bland and tasteless. the salad dressing to salad ratio was appalling, it completely drowned out the salad. the crab cakes tasted far too fishy to be considered crab and the sweet chilli sauce tasted as if it was ketchup and red chilli powder mixed together, not what a typical sweet chilli sauce should be like. would never recommend this place to anyone we know or anyone with a good palette.

Visited The Crown recently whilst staying in Lynton. We were lucky to get a table inside and to have drinks served to us. We asked if we could order some food and were told they would have to check, said we were happy to just have a pizza 🍕 but god answer came back they could not do this. We fully understand the Covid situation but as we had a table and thought the hospitality business needed all the money they could get we found this a little hard to understand. Drinks and service were good. Ended up getting take away fish and chips from just up the road which were top notch.

We found the menu to be very basic and possibly not the best quality, but to be fair it was very inexpensive so I believe we did get what we paid for. If the bookings stay high then there is a clear need for this type of eating place in Lynton, but in my opinion just upping the quality and the price a little, The Crown could be a really nice place to eat out. This is a review of how we found it, we do understand that different people are looking for different things so I wouldn’t want to say I wouldn’t recommend The Crown, personally, I think it’s a place to try and decide for yourself.

We visited the Crown pub for evening meals as we were staying in a hotel near by. We would like to say that the meals were excellent, and the waiter's extremely friendly and helpful. The meals were good value for money and even remembered that my husband is lactose intolerant and gave us the soya milk with out us even asking for it. And our compliments to the chef.

Just ordered a main course to leave room for dessert as sticky toffee pudding was on the menu (my favourite). The service was so slow, our food took almost an hour to arrive, and all the sticky toffee pidding had gone. I settled for a vanilla iceream cheese cake which was good.

Decided on a bank holiday day out to Lynton at short notice and came across this charming pub. Being a sunny day, we chose to sit outside and ordered from the bar. We had ham, egg & chips and a vegetarian pizza, which were both plentiful and represented excellent value for money. The waitress who served us was lovely, chatty and friendly. The place seemed to be full of tourists and their dogs, so a good spot to stop for a well-kept and ice cold beer on a hot day. Would certainly go back.

We stayed at this hotel last week (7th of August) and cannot praise it highly enough, Rachel, Lee, Mark, Mike and Andy all go out of their way to help and make your visit a really relaxing and enjoyable stay The food is excellent and is served with a smile (under slightly difficult circumstances due to Covid restrictions). Sat in the lounge having a drink while waiting to be seated for our meal, we saw many people being turned away because the restaurant was fully booked every night' hence the Don't be disappointed headline. Try it, but book first.

Booked to eat here on our first night in Lynton. We received a warm and friendly welcome. Helpful, attentive staff where nothing was too much trouble. It was not fast food, it was delicious, freshly prepared, worth waiting for food. A simple, uncomplicated menu with daily specials - you won’t be disappointed. Food and service were so good we went back on our second night in Lynton too. Different specials from the previous day and the service was excellent again.

Popped in for a pint whilst staying in local campsite and walking the Lynton/Lynmouth coastal area. Really pleased to see the extent of their Covid precautions and maybe Ingot lucky with timings but I was shown to a table, brilliantly poured pint of Tribune and was so impressed by what I saw of the service and the food coming out that I immediately decided to try and book a table for dinner. No problem there, finished my walk and returned three hours later for a great meal, lovely pints of well-managed beer and stayed for the whole evening, which made the walk back up the hill back to the campsite quite interesting! Lovely staff, trying really hard in difficult times, will DEFFO go back for more.

We ate here every evening of our stay, did not stay here though as were unaware of it until we arrived. Food was great, ample portions, very good menus and excellent personal service. My wife is gluten free and a full separate menu was available for her each night. All the people there were very friendly and helpful, particularly Mark who looked after us so well. We have no hesitation in visiting this hotel again and next time we will stay there as well.

Booked in to eat after stopping for a drink, Lynton is a funny old place to try and eat with young children, the restaurants don’t open until after 6pm and never seem to mention children on menus or websites so we decided on the crown even though I have to say, the bar menu didn’t exactly appeal to us. However I was assured that the chef has a number of specials on each night from 5.30pm! I think it’s fair to say the restaurant area is great for what it is, spacious, clean and well decorated and the staff waiting on where brilliant, attentive and chatty. The food…. Well if you like deep fried then it’s right up your street. Unfortunately none of it is fresh… we went for crab cakes and mozerella parcels to start and a seafood basket and salt and pepper chicken bites as a main. All sounded good but It was ALL frozen food deep fat fried, including the chips. Our daughters ham egg and chips also included a slice of processed ham and the pizza our son had was clearly ready made from the freezer. I wouldn’t mind but the meals weren’t cheap, especially the seafood basket and chicken bites. Your paying ~£13 per meal for frozen food that costs probably no more than £1 a meal to buy in, I appreciate everyone has to make a living especially in these times but there’s restaurants in lynton doing fresh mains starting at £17…. The food was ok but left both me and my wife feeling a little worse for wear later in the evening…! I think the menu needs a revamp or dare I say it a new chef! Then this place could be great for food, do less frozen and more fresh. Also there where no staple pub basics on the main menu such as a classic burger, rump steak, pie, Gammon, Mixed grill etc. Not sure if they’re generally catering for the en mass oap coach holidays that I’m sure Lyndon and Lynmouth brings and most likely fill the hotel but still I feel there’s much to be improved upon food wise. Bill came to £60 which I can’t complain at for feeding a family of 4 but we would of liked to see more fresh food on the menu and would have happily paid more for it.

Very genuinely friendly staff. Food excellent we both had seafood baskets which seemed to be a popular choice and wow it did not fail to please. Food arrived within a reasonable time and the price including a bottle of wine and beers was Under £60. Bargain. Overall highly recommended just be aware opening hours are limited.
