Wow! We visited last night for a celebratory dinner and it was by far the best experience we’ve had here. We’ve been to the old bank a couple of times before now after a recommendation and it’s always been outstanding. After our last visit we...didn’t think it could get any better but it just keeps delivering. Tonight’s meal however was beyond words, two new young chefs in the kitchen from our last visit but obviously this restaurant draws highly trained chefs as our sharing steak was cooked to the perfect MR and the marriage of flavours in the sides was sensational. All of this culinary delight is happening whilst being looked after by a waitress that made everything look effortless, this is how hospitality should be. This is hospitality at its best. We cannot wait to come back!More

We enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Old Bank. Excellent food and wonderful service. The team could not have been more accommodating to our party of eight. The food was first class. The Old Bank is a must do whenever we visit Lynmouth.

Service was great all through our meal, the staff explained the various cuts of meat and were extremely attentive. Food was brilliant, we had the chateaubriand to share and it was cooked to perfection and the sides were super tasty (Mac & Cheese was incredible),...all in all a fantastic experience in a little gem of a restaurant in Lynton.More

After my second visit to the wonderful Old Bank, I felt I needed to write a review. The first trip was incredible and had me hankering for a reason to return and luckily for me that reason arrived! My second visit was even better than...the first, and the bar was already set quite high! Firstly, the restaurant itself is welcoming, comfortable and modern, very tastefully done. The staff are attentive, helpful and friendly, we had two very professional ladies who looked after us through our meal. The menu is superb, it has been thought about by someone who surely knows about food and how to marry flavours. Anything I’ve eaten in there has been wonderfully received as my taste buds have been taken on a journey from one delicious thing to the next. The chefs do an incredible job of getting these pleasures ready for you, all cooked to perfection! Then we need to talk about the steak…. My friend and I shared a chateaubriand of 700g, I’ve eaten steak all over the world and I can honestly say that this was up there with the best of them. We had ours done medium rare/rare and it was incredible (tbf incredible doesn’t do it justice!) When it came out it looked like it couldn't have been more perfectly cooked to me. I introduced the knife to it and the steak fell into a mouth sized forkful before me…. The first bite I just happened to take at exactly the same time as my friend and we exchanged a look of wide eyed knowing elation at the sheer quality and flavour of this exquisite example of beef. Just wow! Keep doing what you’re doing guys, you do it very well and in my opinion, you are one of the best restaurants in Devon and up there amongst the best steak restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of dining at. Thank-you for tonight it was wonderful.More

My husband and I were visiting Lynmouth for the weekend and were looking for somewhere special to eat, to celebrate my birthday. I contacted the The Old Bank prior to booking and they very kindly provided some local taxi numbers which was extremely helpful to...us. Both our steaks (fillet and ribeye) were delicious - tender and freshly cooked to perfection, coupled with a tasty sauce and a selection of gorgeous sides! My birthday was recognised and this was very much appreciated, thank you! All in all, a great meal and I would 100% recommend and would return again.More

What an amazing place. The atmosphere in this small restaurant was chilled and friendly due to the welcome and excellent service from the staff, under the lead of the owner, Liam. The food was exceptional. We had the garlic king prawns and hummus to start,...followed by a 500g Chateaubriand with two sides and peppercorn sauce. It was perfectly cooked and just melted in the mouth. We shall definitely visit again next time we're down this part of the country.More

This is our go to restaurant when staying in Lynton and it retains its excellence and the friendly, helpful team headed by Liam. The monkfish is superb, cooked to perfection and fresh, light whilst taking on well the lightly spiced curried sauce. Carrots with anise...and cumin are so tasty and such an inspiring offering. Salad was crisp and a good size. There are additions to the starters with the gambas deserving of special mention, succulent, fresh and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.More

We were visiting family and had driven 6hrs to arrive in lynton. I enjoy a good restaurant and good steak so my expectations were high. They did not disappoint in the slightest! To start we had sausage, prawns, ham and calamari. The sausage had no...flavour to me mainly tasting of the onions it was covered in but apart from that the starters were top tier. For mains we had two steaks, the market fish and a burger. Sides we had truffle fries, fries, cabbage, and two rounds of the Mac n cheese. All of the mains were perfect! The steaks were perfect cuts, cooked and seasoned to perfection. The Mac n cheese is by far the best I’ve ever had. I joked I would have to make the weekly trip just to eat here, but in all honesty I now won’t visit without booking a table here. Couldn’t recommend more.More
