We have been frequent diners at Nibana for several years. It used to be brilliant, but oh dear! I don’t know what’s happened recently standards have slipped dramatically. My curry was a few chunks of scraggy meat that were buried in a dish full of sauce. Others in our party had dishes that had hardly any meat but lots of vegetables and sauce- very unappetising. It seems like they are skimping on the more expensive items of the meal and putting profit over customer satisfaction. Come on how much does it cost for a chicken breast? I think they must have also changed the house wine as it tasted very bland and weak. Shame as it used to be lovely. The ladies toilets were very dusty looked like they hadn’t been cleaned properly for some time and the wash basin was loose on the wall and the tap didn’t work . Having said all that, the staff were lovely and very polite hence I couldn’t bring myself to tell them about the awful food and drink. I don’t know if management has changed but something needs to be done to improve standards!

Ordered a takeaway for family with some chips for little ones. The curries were all lovely, nan bread. The chips should be called fries, awful hard bullet like, kids wouldn't eat them and neither the adults so they went straight in the bin. Why cant you do nice thick chips that stay warm on delivery like the Chinese chips. Waste of money and it's not a cheap takeaway and let's it down.

I visited Nibana this evening. I was alone as I am in the area on business. The food I ordered was good overall however the ambience and professionalism of the staff team needs to improve drastically. The team are mostly very young men and throughout my visit I could see and hear them bantering with each other and basically messing about all gathered around the bar area. What I assume were delivery drivers were also joining in. This is not what I expect to see in a restaurant and it's definitely not the way to attract decent clientele. I would suggest the management need to take stock and start managing the staff team to ensure they behave appropriately in front of paying guests.

I rarely write a review but I am so disappointed, We have been using this restaurant for years, we collected a takeaway tonight, to receive an attitude upon ordering. A demand for us to bring cash rather than use our card?? The curries were flavourless, barely any meat literally 5 pieces of chicken, The naan breads were half the size, Would have been better getting a asda curry, wont be using them again. So dissatisfied & disappointing especially after being a favourite for so long. Not what it used to be. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

A rare treat for myself and my wife and we decided to get an Indian takeaway from Nibana. We tried them about four years ago but, when the food arrived, it was stone cold. Ringing them about this produced an off hand response and no discount or even an apology was offered, Lightning can't strike twice can it? Well, since they are the closest Indian to us, we thought we would try them again - what a mistake that was! Initially we were told the order would be with us at around 1845 but the order didn't arrive unti 1915. It smelled delicious and we were both looking forward to it so imagine our disappointment when we started to take it out of the bags and realised straight away that, once more, it was all cold. Touching the lamb passander and chicken korma revealed that they were only just luke warm but the bombay aloo and the naan bread were completely stone cold. We tried a little of it but it wasn't fit to eat and what's the point of putting it i the microwave? That just ruins it. I decided that, having now had this happen to us twice, I really felt that I did not want to pay for it this time so I rang them again. Initially I made my complaint to an employee, told him what was wrong and what I would like done about it and, without explanation, he passed me to someone else who I assume was the owner. Initially he asked me what it was I had and then told me how much it would be with delivery. I realised he though I was trying to place an order. I relieved him of that notion quite quickly and stated that the order that they had delivered was cold and I wasn't happy to pay for it. He immediately began shouting at me down the phone saying that it couldn't possibly be cold since it had been cooked fresh. I invited him to come over and put a finger in to test it himself but he vigorously declined at which point it just turned into a shouting match. Realising I wasn't going to get anywhere and this must be the same person that answered the phone when I tried to complain four years ago, I put the phone down. We reheated the takeaway in the microwave and it tasted just like a cheap microwave meal - ruined!

As restaurant fully booked we opted for a takeaway Special menu for two, swapping one meat option for a vegetarian Korma . Very disappointing ! 80% at least was the sauce with hardly any vegetables , the chicken Tikka masala not much better with predominantly sauce .Popadom crushed to bits and onion bajis burnt ! I had an excellent meal with colleagues in the summer , hence the reason for wishing to return. I feel that due to the full restaurant the takeaway order was an inconvenience ! Definitely won’t be visiting again !

Despite receiving nice service, I have to say that we all found our food to be poor standard. Good curry houses are actually few and far between, and it can be misleading choosing a place to eat based on strong reviews. Nibana clearly has a solid customer base and very busy take out service, so it is probably a good option in this area. However, if you know good Indian food/curry houses then you’ll quickly see that this is well below par. Service was quite slow. Only 2 tables in use, but pretty much finished a round of drinks with poppadoms before ordering our mains, which were average at best. I mean all round average at best. Good curry houses stand out for freshness and brilliantly balanced dishes. This does not apply here. Tough potato’s in the sides, slightly tough chicken tikka like it was not very fresh and generally the dishes were really poor. It’s a shame, as the service was ok. But what also influenced the 1 star review is the fact that they also have 1 star hygiene rating, which is very very poor and can not be excused. This is something we found out after eating, otherwise would have come elsewhere. The rating is from December 19, so hopefully that would have changed now, but still it’s something we’d normally avoid.

I moved out of Plymouth 4 years ago, and when I left this was the best Indian in the city. I’d always drive to pick it up. I’ve come home for a visit and I am so disappointed! Standards have severely dropped since this place was in its prime. Burnt and shop bought Onion Bhaji’s, Nibana Special Curry with no prawns, tiny and I mean tiny naan breads and the chips, they were cooked the day before they were that terrible. I looked so forward to a really great meal and was truly disappointed. You used to be the best Indian in Plymouth everything was properly hand made now? Feels like you just want profit margins because you definitely don’t care about your food anymore.

Ordered a takeaway last evening, having heard this was the best Indian in Plymouth. Very disappointed it was hardly edible, all dishes were cooked in the same red tasteless sauce. Hardly authentic in any way. Complete waste of money !

Having been here before and having had an excellent meal I was truly disappointed with the meal I had this evening. The poppadoms were crispy and the dips and onion salads were fresh .The naan bread was light and tasty and the highlight of the meal. The only word for the sauce on my curry is bland. It didn't really taste of anything in particular but creamy fat. The meat was a bit dry and I definitely regretted my choice. My partner's curry was more flavourful but was not a stand out or memorable dish. The rice tasted artificial and was not pleasant to eat. This was such a shame as our visit just over a year ago was much better.

I have used this restaurant and takeaway for at least 10 years and always considered it the best Indian in Plymouth. I had a takeaway tonight and it was poor. Not enough meat in the meals, bland and tasteless. More like a cheap Indian takeaway down Union Street. Very disappointed and I won’t be back. So sad.

Sorry to say this restaurant has gone downhill, ordered at 6.15pm for 7.00pm collection, food not ready till 7 25pm, then minus the nan bread I had paid for. On complaining the manager told me not to come back, a totally appalling customer service attitude and no mention of a refund for the bread. In reality they can't cope with the busy Saturday trade, so won't be going back to Nibanas, despite frequenting this restaurant since it opened.

My partner and I were staying on a (rare) visit in Plymouth and fancied an Indian takeaway. Unfortunately we decided to try Nibana. Whilst it arrived on time and the food was hot, it was extremely oily, mostly orange in colour and bland in flavour. The only plus was the decent portion size. If you enjoy Indian food please avoid what this restaurant has to offer.

Although we had a large group and we’re making some noise, the table next to us contained customers who were swearing very loudly. The restaurant staff acknowledged this but failed to rectify the situation. The food portions are relatively small and the final bill was extraordinarily high. The whole experience left a sour taste in our mouths and an eye-watering hole in our wallets. Not going back there in a hurry

I visited the restaurant for a takeaway , I was made to feel very welcome on arrival. I had ordered a dish that was different to what I thought it was when I rang to say the had given me the wrong dish they explained that I had ordered the wrong butter chicken , I accepted that I had made the error but they delivered me the right dish that I was after & a rice free of charge. Also amazing food , very tasty! 😁
