Hakka food is consistently good, most especially the Dim Sum. The only slight reservation we have about coming here is that the service on some nights or times of night can be sluggish, either because of understaffing or because preference seems sometimes to be given to big groups or favoured regulars. We came back because we were reminded of the... More

We visited Hakka for our Xmas party, only a small group of 6. We were seated but left for 10 minutes with no menu and then had to ask for menu's and also no drinks order was taken, once we got over this we chose our starters which then took 50mins-hour to arrive, and again we had to ask for... My family have been coming to Hakka for birthday celebrations for a number of years now, ever since we found it almost by accident in it's upstairs location at the top of Southside Street. Each time we come, we marvel yet again at the quality of the food, the sweetness of the service and the hospitality of Johnny, the master... More

The satay sauce of this restaurant is surprisingly the best satay sauce I have tasted so far. Every time I came, I always order the chilli garlic king prawn. It is crispy and very delicious. The waitresses always treat me very good with smiles and laughters creating a wonderful atmosphere. Definitely the best chinese restaurant in town.

Despite the early hour - 6:30pm - this fairly intimate little restaurant was nearly full with a large party of mature Chinese enjoying a celebration. Attentive service from two very polite young waitresses. Not the fastest, but I've been places where it has been a lot slower. Worth the short wait. Dim Sum were perfect. Duck with Ginger and Spring... More

I took my wife and friends here last night to celebrate my wife's birthday. After taking our order we waited 90 minutes for our entree to be served and then I think we would have waited longer had I not complained. The mains were delivered over a period of 15minutes which was not good. The warm plates had gone cold,... More

We had planned to visit the noodle lounge as it's our favourite place to eat authentic Chinese food in Plymouth but it was closed. A member of staff suggested we try it and we did, albeit in a rather reluctant way. What a treat! Our reluctance was unfounded and the service, food and drinks were great. We had an 8... More

Have been before but latest visit a disaster. Woefully understaffed on a Saturday night. 20 mins to be offered a drink. The same again to order. Then 45 minute wait for starters. Unordered dishes arrive. Then an hour for mains - which only start to arrive after a complaint and three never arrive despite three prompts. Staff surprised that they... More

I stopped one night in Lockyers Key. Walked into the harbour, had a couple of pints in some pretty terrible pubs and looking for somewhere to eat stumbled across Hakka. service was first class, not at all intrusive and the food was first rate. Looked in many a window deciding where to eat only to see them mostly empty. Walked... More
