As the Tap & Barrel you used to get the best carvery meal in the city every Sunday at a great price and it was busy. The revamp has tidied up the place and made it brighter inside but the carvery is gone and replaced...More

Just dropped in for drinks a couple days after it opened. Revamp is very good, completely changed the atmosphere. I think food starts today so looking forward to trying it out. Staff very friendly and professionally run. Good news for the area.

Not entirely what happened or caused the closure but the St Austell Brewery website proclaims the reopening as 2.5.15

Went to The Tap & Barrel for lunch. This is a typical local serving up decent pub food. Don't expect a Weatherspoons or fancy restaurant. It serves up simple meals at a reasonable price. All in all the food was very good although my dish...More

Have eaten here a few times when on a night out normally, food was nice but not great, portions were good, not the kind of place you would take a family for a meal, quite a few drunks at the weekend, but all the same,...More

My partner and I have eaten here many times. The 2 for £12 deal offers and excellent selection of pub favourites, and the grub always comes out hot, well seasoned, and well cooked. We have never had a problem with the staff or the food....More

The veg with the carvery was lovely, lots of choice. The beef was very tough, which could have been just on that day, but what. Spoiled the meal was that it was luke warm to nearly cold, had to ask if they could micro wave...More

Eaten here twice, food is very good. Quite like the fact that children are not welcome there are plenty of other family pubs around to cater for them. Being able to bring our dog is a bonus...he is well behaved and doesn't have tantrums. The...More

A busy food pub in an inner suburb with a reputation for hearty meals. Confused by at least one of your contributors with a a Harvester pub at Crabtree Plymouth but they are a couple of miles apart and entirely different. The tap and barrel is a St Austell Brewery pub. Favoured by families and local residents in the Mutley/Lipson ares especially on Sundays. Worth an entry.
