For Father’s Day. Staff were very attentive , great view, good value breakfast as they are bOGOF currently- so the 6 of us with drinks was less than £60. Waiting staff were lovely, I would absolutely return again soon! Thank you so much for a lovely experience.

3 of us went to Ocean view for a catch up. We only had coffee and toast but they are doing buy one get one free on the breakfast menu. We were served by Michael. He is a credit to Ocean view. So, polite, with the biggest smile.! He was somebody who actually enjoys his job....that's a bit rare these days! Coffee and toast was good. A lovely view. All round, we will go there again.

We visited on a Saturday morning to try the Ocean View breakfast offer.
First the positives (of which there are many). The decor is lovely, the views are stunning as you would expect for a premises in a prime location on the Hoe, it’s very clean and service was quite quick. The Turkish eggs were tasty, the OV breakfast was of a reasonable standard.
Sadly, the service from staff let the experience down a bit. Hence the 4* review.
When we walked in to the bar area there were two members of staff, one making coffees, the other moving around the bar area. I have no problem waiting for people to finish what they are doing but both deliberately ignored/avoided eye contact with us. A simple “good morning, I’ll be right with you” would have been a much better first impression.
After we had finished eating nobody came over to clear the table so my boyfriend went across to where two members of staff were talking to ask for the bill.
I was surprised when both continued to talk, looking over the head of my boyfriend, and again ignored him for a good minute or so. It was awkward to watch. Again, a simple “won’t be a minute” would have sufficed.
These are a couple of very small basic tweaks that I was surprised weren’t part of customer service but would make this is a five star venue.
I’m not one to take to Trip Advisor to slate places, I definitely would recommend Ocean View as on balance it was a good experience but hopefully the poor customer service was a one off.

Table was booked for 3 and we all paid a deposit and pre booked meals so expected the meal to be ready quickly however we waited almost 40 minutes for the food to arrive. Not a problem ordinarily but we had a 2 and 3 yr old with us and their food was last to arrive
Having said that it was delicious (could have been a bit hotter though as it was a Sunday roast)
Servers were polite and attentive although I had to request a high chair twice before it was brought to the table and unfortunately their calculations of our bill was wrong twice!! Such a shame as it did spoil the experience overall having to spend 20 minutes trying to get it rectified
Not sure if we will return as our previous visit was very similar sadly.

This was my first visit here…..and definitely my last.
Having worked in hospitality all I can say is this was probably one of the most disappointing visits to a restaurant I’ve ever had.
Collectively 5 meals were returned.
No one welcomed us into the restaurant, luckily a few of our party had already made there way in and we saw where they were.
We were not made aware that we had to go to the bar to get our drinks. (Not an issue I’m happy to use my legs), however because we had pre ordered our meals as we were a group of 10 the food came out before anyone had even got a drink.
This might not sound like much but it’s pretty frustrating when your waiting at a bar knowing the 3 average size scallops you’ve been looking forward to are going cold and even more disappointing when they actually are.
This could have been completely prevented with a member of the waiting team letting us know, it really is basic.
My meal main was ok, I had the short rib, the mash was warm. My partner had the pork belly, which looked rough, a bowl of casserole looking beige and rice.
If you food is going to be average and expensive for what your get…..at least make your service top tier.
The venue is nice on the surface and very fortunate to have a great view of the sound but in reality the dome that covers the bar area is pebble dashed from the seagulls it and under the surface there are things that make you question the cleanliness. Namely the toilets. There was mould around the sink in the toilets and loosely stuck black gaffa tape I’ve two of the urinals.
Best advice I could give to anyone is to save yourself the money. Salumi is around 5minutes away and when your finished there pop up to the lighthouse and get a ice cream and take in the same view for free.

Went here for a birthday lunch with family in August and it was very good. Returned with family on Friday evening for a pre theatre meal. I wanted to book for 5.30pm but was told they were too busy and it would have to be 5.00 pm or 7.30 pm. We had to pay a deposit and pre-order. There were plenty of tables available the whole time we were there and there was no shortage of staff. My sister had a rare sirloin steak which was very tough and had little flavour, I ordered a medium rare sirloin steak which was much closer to rare and was also extremely tough and lacking in flavour. I have no idea what they had done to the tomatoes which were also tough and didn’t taste good. My daughter ordered a mystery fish of the day which turned out to be pollock for £25. We did not expect a cheap fish like this to be served as fish of the day and her potatoes weren’t properly cooked. A few of our party ordered desserts, my sister’s did not arrive with the others, she reminded them but it didn’t arrive until they were putting their coats on to leave. They offered to put her plum crumble and custard in a doggie box, she refused it because it was supposed to be hot and couldn’t really be eaten at the theatre. They offered to staff just didn’t seem to be bothered. I am highly unlikely to return and wouldn’t recommend it.

Popped here for brekkie as I thought the buy 1 breakfast get the other for free offer sounded good. I rang up the day before asking if we needed to book a table and ‘Mike’ sounded like he was busy doing other things and was away from the phone so I asked if he came closer as I couldn’t hear and he proceeded to shout down the phone. Which I found quiet rude.
Then when I came for breakfast I was greeted by the same ‘Mike’ who was also pretty rude for service, I couldn’t swap ham on to the eggs royal as I wanted it with smoked salmon.. which I didn’t understand why when it’s the same price and you have all of the stuff. Our food was ‘luke’ warm.. but was ok. He then came and collected our plates asked if we wanted anymore drinks THEN brought our bill straight over. We ordered at 09.26am and had eaten and paid by 09:50. I felt very rushed baring in mind there was only 2 other tables. It wasn’t no relaxing breakfast.

So looked forward to lunch with friends at the Dome. Very sad to say that my meal was disappointing. Whilst I managed to eat some of the fish, I was unable to eat the rest of my meal due to the combination of a very rich sauce & large amount of oil on the plate. I pointed these facts out to the waitress, stating that it was very unpleasant. The waitress apologised & returned to me shortly after with the offer of a complimentary desert or hot drink. I thanked her but declined the offer.
If it wasn’t for the fact that I was with a large group of friends, I would have asked for the £25 cost of the meal to be removed from the bill so that I could donate the £25 to charity.
My recommendation is that if you like Mackerel in oil, buy yourself a tin & slap it on a plate, thus saving yourself approximately £24. Bon appetite.

I was looking forward to trying this restaurant but unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. The waiting staff were great just not supported by competent management or kitchen staff.
Undercooked & soggy vegan burger & no vanilla ice cream (a vital ingredient for my dessert choice of Affogato). The rest of the meals served to our table were poor too - meagre beef burgers and steaks at £28 each definitely not worth the price tag - the best choice looked to be the fish & chips.

I’ve lived in Plymouth for ages but it’s the first time I’ve ate here for some reason. It’s a great location and an interesting and well designed restaurant. However, we found the food and service to be very average.
£110 for two courses and a drink for 2 people, at thoose prices the basics should be a given and I’d actually expect something better than an average chain, but there wasn’t much difference.
Forgot to bring my drink, didn’t offer water or bread , had to ask for a steak knife.
Scallop starter was fine, but pretty basic.
The steak was done as asked, but nothing special and with one sorry overcooked tomato, but the chips were lovely. And the fish was a bit dry and slightly overcooked.
Next time I’d either opt to spend a little less for an average chain and receive similar quality, or a little more for something that bit better.

Firstly I would like to say how amazing the customer service and staff was here ! However, the food was not quite what I was expecting.
The apparent ‘award winning’ regency sausage was a frozen Richmond sausage at best and the egg seemed to come from a laboratory. Jesus managed to feed 5000 people with a loaf of bread and a fish and this breakfast struggled to feed my 13 year old child. At £14 for a breakfast I was expecting just a bit more, thankfully it was buy 1 get 1 free which softens the blow. Apart from the food everything else was amazing but I won’t be making a return any time soon.

We visited the Dome with high expectations,, our last visit was May years ago when it was Gary Rhodes restaurant. After we sat down we were left for ages before someone eventually drifted over to take our drinks order, this came eventually but a long wait for it to arrive. When the starters arrived I had to ask for plates for the bread which again took a while to appear. The main meals arrived, I had chicken ceaser salad, there were a few soggy lettuce leaves and a chicken breast that was so dry plus the bacon also very dry, the croutons were so dry I couldn’t eat them ! There were seven of us and each dish was similar. A burger on a bagel, chicken wings that were spicy but so spicy they were inedible , and a steak that was so very tough! Please train your staff and get a chef that can cook, for the prices you charge you need to up your game to reflect the prices you charge.

I writing this review following a visit to Ocean View yesterday (29/10/23) for afternoon tea. There was 12 of us in our group and we all felt extremely disappointed with the service we received. Two members of your staff were really rude and the service was very poor. When we arrived we were shown to our seats and then sat there for 30 minutes before a member of staff came over to take drinks orders. We asked if tea and coffee was provided as part of the afternoon tea to which the member of staff replied “why do you think there are tea cups on the table” which was really unfriendly and not professional at all! The food in no way reflected the £27 cost it was a very small and random selection not what you’d traditionally expect when you go for afternoon tea. At no point did a member of staff explain what each of the food items were it was just a case of try it and see. We were not offered anymore tea or coffee and no one approached us to ask if everything was satisfactory with the food/drinks which you’d expect in a restaurant. Also no one came to clear the table and once again we had to approach a member of staff to get our bill. We did mention the poor service we had received with a member of staff on the concierge desk he did apologise but wasn’t particularly interested. Overall what should have been a pleasant afternoon turned out to be very disappointing and we will certainly not be returning for afternoon tea again.

View is second to none in Plymouth, however the food we were served left something to be desired especially as this place prides itself on ots menu and quality and hence is not cheap.
Drinks and starters were all fine and it wasn't until the main course was served that an issue was uncovered. 3 of us ordered the Ribeye, usually a good cut of meat although can be a little fatty. Had it many times and well used to the taste , texture and flavour.
However, the cut that was served ( medium) was tough and really poor quality.
We had waited a while for our meal so I didn't want to delay the meal by sending it back. But in hindsight, perhaps I should have as I ended up leaving about half of the steak on my plate. One of my guests also left most of his steak as well which really should have beena red flag to the server...but no, no comments was made. We also did not have the server come back and ask if all was ok..
These were £36 steaks so not cheap and should have been of better quality. Our evening bill was £245 so it wasn't a cheap evening and I must say I did not feel it was worth the price I paid. As I was entertaining I did not feel I would make an issue but the server should have been aware of a problem with the steaks seeing as the steaks went back half uneaten!

This restaurant had its work cut out when the 4 of us ,
Vegan, vegetarian, carnivore And pescatarian came to dine.
Excellent service and the best vegan burger ever.
We were lucky enough to have 25% off 2 courses so the bill was very reasonable. ( offer on till the end of June , weekdays)
