Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really enjoyed my stay here. The room was comfy and it had a perfect view of the Tamar bridge. The area is peaceful and the breakfast which was included, was filling. I would definitely stay here again.

This is our favourite place. We didn’t book a table for lunch and it was busy as we expected but we did get in. We both chose baguettes. Mine was the gammon ham and cheese which was served warm, and the cheese had melted which...was very scrumptious and was probably the best baguette I’ve ever had. Cliff had a prawn baguette which was filled with moist prawns in a Marie sauce which he thoroughly enjoyed. We had a portion of chips and we could just about manage a pudding between us. We chose the jam sponge pudding with custard which we have had before. This dessert melts in the mouth and we did see that they are doing a sticky toffee sponge pudding and also a chocolate version which we can’t wait to try when we are visiting at the end of February.More

What a Hidden Treasure . Really nice welcome when we arrived . we were early so asked if we could have lunch while we waited for book in . nothing was too much trouble , the laughter coming from the kitchen was infectious and when...our food arrived it was delicious. The room had such a lovely view of the Tamar Bridge . and so quiet couldn’t hear any road noise at all . the people outside the pub itself in the evening chatting didn’t stay outside late so wasn’t noisy at all . we had a wonderful time . I am a cleaner myself and always strip the bed apon leaving including liners and have to say the pillows and bed were almost spotless . We will defiantly be returning thank-you so much for such a lovely stay . my only criticism is perhaps and extractor fan or some sort might be good in the bathroom , as there is some mould but could just be because your such an old building and right next to the river . I always scrub with bicarbonate of soda and lemon , if that fails neat bleach . i highly recommend this place nothing was too much trouble will defiantly return . Thank you all so much . 10 out of 10 .More

Went to watch Swansea City play in Plymouth today. Pre booked a table and really enjoyed our visit. The food was excellent and the staff friendly and accommodating. This is our favourite place when visiting the South West both for staying and eating. Great quality...food at reasonable prices. To top it off we won the football as well. Thanks to everyone see you next yearMore

Stayed at the Ferry for one night B&B whilst on business. Friendly reception from chef and lady at the bar. Small single room with good clean en suite. Good beer and very reasonably priced “Pub Grub” which is perfect when you are away working. Again...good breakfast and friendly staff in the morning also. Not the faceless non personal stay you get at Travel lodges Etc. An absolute bargain at £75 !! Many thanks, I shall be staying again when I’m in the area.More

Loved our stay but light didn't work. No really did love our stay. Old proper pub right opposite the river where the original ferry took passengers to the other side. We stayed for two nights, DBB. With a very popular river side seating area and...one very traditional large bar together with large restaurant all very nice. Great staff and great Chef producing great food. Huge Full English (pics) The view across the river from the front of the pub and from our room window was spectacular, day time and at sunset. Reached down a small twisty lane to the base of the bridges across the Tamar, and along to the FREE parking in front of the Ferry House Inn and around 6 spaces to the right, marvellous. The rooms have been recently refurbished and are of a good standard all en suite. I know air con is a rarely available in this country but boy was it hot. With the refurbishment maybe a fan should have been added, maybe a free standing one could be positioned on top of the wardrobe (see pic) Pity there was a small amount of mould in two places on the lovely large shower tray (see pics). Oh the light, turns out that if the bed head is pushed back hard to the wall it turns off the centre light and then it cant be turned on at the entrance by the door. Unfortunately the power sockets are also behind the bed head so no access to then at the head of the bed, There was one on the opposite wall, bit of a nuisance for charging over night, We do like out phones near don't we.More

One of my favourite spots particularly when it served tasty crab sandwiches and sitting outside. On this visit we sat outside and the beer was good. Sandwiches were dreadful. Thick cut bread and the thinnest spread of tuna. One side of the bread was a...crust. Could hardly taste the tuna. Paid £8.50 for just about the worst sandwich ever. The waiter hoped we had enjoyed our snack I said we had not and explained. He was polite but seemed not to know how to react to a constructive criticism and just wandered off. Did he report to the cook or landlord. We have no idea. Not good and a sign of complacent.More

Dont STAY ANYWHERE ELSE. Just stayed a week and from the location to the food and the staff across the board its been amazing. The locals like many Yorkshire folk will talk to you, drink with you and include you in the days and evenings...like you have been going there all your life. We met some characters. The food menu and the themed food nights should you wish to eat them are brilliant. THE PIES!!! EAT THE PIES ON PIE NIGHT! Neil, Claire and the staff are spot on and cant do enough for you. To be clear im generally a people hater but these people are nothing but 5 star folk.More

A lovely spot, food fine, but was somewhat surprised that when it clouded over, & at 1st sign of a few spots of rain, the umbrellas on the outside dining area were taken in because the manager/owner didn't want them to get wet. It rained...gently for less than 5 minutes. The dining experience inside doesn't compare to that outside so we ate in the car. Didn't stay on for drinks as seats had got slightly wet. Customers before umbrellas!!More

This is our favourite place to stay. We now go three or four times a year. It’s in such a fantastic spot with so much to see on the water. The room and bed are lovely and the food by Steve is excellent. It has...a real nice buzz to it as well and we also enjoy drinking in the bar. My partner Cliff says the beer is kept particularly well and he also really enjoys the Thatchers there. Anyway, we are going back in July and also November and we have already been there twice this year. Perhaps I shouldn’t be telling you all this because I want to make sure we get in when we want!More
